New Year's Eve, Sunday, December 31, 2023
It's the last day to write 2023. Time passes fast these days!
The sun is out and our friends are here. We will walk with Justice shortly.
We are going to be eating New Year's Eve dinner at the Beach Club with our friends this evening. It will be cool (high 50's) so we will have to be prepared and hoping that the outside heaters work. Our reservation is at 7, so we will likely be back home by 9:39 and probably asleep before midnight.
Happy New Year and see you next year!!!
Well snow less December has come to an end. The drizzle last night turned into snow while we were sleeping, and everything is coated in about an inch of fluffy white snow.
I started a new book yesterday, so today's plan is to finish reading it. And that's about it. There will be a little laundry, maybe some cooking, but not much else. Oh, and maybe some rearranging in my closets. I went through the other day and purged quite a few things. A little more organizing would pay off later when I'm looking for that one thing that I can't remember where I put it.
2023 held a lot of adventure for us. There's always difficulties, and even tribulations but my primary thought is that there were a lot good times. I rode a ferry boat on Loch Ness in Scotland!!! I saw places and things I never dreamed I would see, and revisited favorites. Looking forward to what 2024 holds.
New Year's Eve is here!
Like DD, this year has brought a lot for me. Lots of good, good things. Lots of tough things, too. Gotta say that all things considered, I appreciate my experiences and how they mold me. Yes, I have anxiety, body dysmorphia, an eating disorder, chronic depression (albeit mostly controlled by Prozac), etc.... but those issues also help make me strong and resilient.
I went to a comedy show on Friday night (which was a lot of fun, but WAY expensive! I don't think I have ever paid $16 for a drink in my life and mind you, I drink soda, not liquor or wine. Our bar tab for 5 people with tip was $250!) Well, one of the things that the comedian (who is a dwarf) talked about was living with disabilities and the different levels of disabilities - both real and imagined. Helped me put my own "disabilities" in a perspective. He did tell one story about getting in to it with an able bodied guy boarding a plane with the disabled people at the beginning of boarding. The able bodied man had lost a finger tip. Comedian read him the riot act in the airport.
Tonight we are going to see Poor Things. Will let you know what I think, DD. Sorry (?) about the snow.... Wasn't quite sure how you (and my other MN friends) felt about the snowless December. Seemed to be a mixed bag of feelings.
One more puppy evaluation to be done tomorrow and then I will make final decisions about which puppy goes where.
Hope everyone gets to bring in the New Year in the best way possible.
I'm the type of Minnesotan who is never concerned about snow less periods. Because like taxes and death, there will eventually be snow in Minnesota. For people who like ice fishing or outdoor skating rinks, The higher than normal temperatures are more of a concern. There's open water on the lakes here, and very unsafe ice up north. Perhaps you saw the news story about the ice fishers who were on a sheet of ice that broke loose and had to be rescued? Now my outdoor winter activity is confined to walking to and from my car, so no ice is a delight. But I understand why winter sports enthusiasts are unhappy.

I thought I did my post today, but must have imagined it...
All's well on the Kirby front. He met the neighbors and their 2 doodles today on the driveway. They gushed over his pictures when I got him, but hadn't met him, so I thought we better get a move on since he's growing like a weed. I saw them walking past and we dashed out. He was such a good boy!
I'm cooking tonight and will probably be in bed by 10... not my favorite holiday!
Next week is busy with the floor heating boiler getting repaired, roof-coating estimate, puppy training class, and a doctor's check up. I think I may ask about the shots. Honestly I've put on so much weight! She may not think it's a good idea with my thyroid, but maybe that doesn't apply to me?
Anyway, time to go feed Kirby. He has a new food puzzle to give a test drive...
