It truly is December 30 today (I originally had that date on my post yesterday but corrected it when I noticed it later). Very cool here this morning (50), but the sun is bright and it promises to be as beautiful as yesterday. No higher than mid-60's so I need long pants and a warmer top but it is quite pleasant with the bright sun. Justice got 2 long walks yesterday.
The bag showed up at our door in the early afternoon. Kudos to the airline though we still wonder what happened to it. Did it get left behind in Providence or travel to Raleigh?
Anxiety is sneaky. I always thought of myself as fairly easygoing but I think I just wasn't recognizing what was going on underneath the covers. I think I'm not worried but then realize I have this generally nudgy feeling before appointments, meeting someone, driving to a new place, traveling, etc. Which is why I often have insomnia. That "nudgy" feeling is anxiety. not enough to overwhelm, but enough to overeat and to not sleep.
We have guests arriving for 2 days this afternoon. Time to get our walk in, then do some quick dusting/bathroom cleaning. Low level of anxiety here, LOL.
Have a sunny Saturday!

I think our society lends itself to anxiety! I know I have loads...
Kirby seems to be growing by the minute. He does a big stretch and you'd swear he's longer than before it started.
Potential here for 6-14" of snow next weekend! Glad that's not the weekend you're here, Liz! I'd love to make plans to meet up or have you over (to the house of puppy gates, mismatched temporary furniture, and puppy fur on everything), or whatever might fit in your schedule!
Note to self, I need a snow shovel. Can't wait to see Kirby enjoy his first snow!
I think that's all I have at the moment, take care all!
That's a lot of snow. I also hope it won't be on the ground when we are there. I would love to see you, your home and meet Kirby while we are there. I love puppies!
Greetings all
The sun is out. We celebrated the day by calling Roto Rooter. Kitchen drain plugged up. I woke to the sounds of the garbage disposal running and intermittent tool clanking. DH was trying to fix it but... He loves it when repair people come and loves to watch what they do and chat them up. Lets me stay out of it.
Yeah anxiety is epidemic. I agree CC that it is our society. We should do like other nations and have afternoon siestas and a month off in August. American life is far too rushed. A great joy of retirement is being able to fritter time away if I choose. I still have nightmares about law firm time sheets. Ugh.
And CC we can't wait to hear about Kirby and the snow. So fun. We have only had it here once in the lives of my dog or maybe just Tesla.
So the plumbing episode took a big chunk out of my day so I am not getting much done. Tomorrow is another gallery afternoon. It all depends on the weather. No clue if we are going to have more storms.
I got some GY the other day and had forgotten how good it is. For about 8 years I ate it every day for breakfast and then suddenly couldn't do it anymore. Thats the thing about eating control; sometimes a boiled egg just does not cut it.
I plan to make chili on new years day for football watching. Not very original.
So the artist drama has escalated. The departing artist said our gallery was just crafts and gifts and not art. So another member posts " glad to have had a "real artist", good luck with your greeting cards". A serious dig as most of what the departing guy sold was cards though most of our artists do sell cards. Meow.
We watched "Leave the World Behind" last night. Kind of interesting but a totally unsatisfying ending. After about a half hour I figured out it was Julia Roberts.
Ham tonight. Cheers. Diane S
Snow coming to Arizona? CC, are you really going to shovel all that snow? It's good exercise for sure, but it can take a long time to move a foot or more, and you have a big, big driveway. We will be making it out of December with no snow accumulation here. Enjoying it!!! Although milder temperatures in the winter are usually accompanied by clouds/overcast. I could use some of that Florida sunshine.
We've had a cozy, quiet day here. Luckily we don't have plans, because a freezing drizzle (but not snow!) is making the roads slick. So home it is.
We are almost done with the Crown. The episode when Princess Margaret dies was very poignant. The episodes focused on William are not as interesting to me. He hasn't lived enough life yet to be a deep subject. Maybe in time.
We had a very nice time at the wine bar last night. Really a fun place, they always have music and no cover charge. If you're into wine, they have the gamut, from $40 bottles, to $300+ . Last night bottles were 1/2 off. Maybe we should have tried a $300 bottle. Not likely. :)
Next weekend we have tickets at a jazz club in downtown, A band well known around here that plays Van Morrison covers. Charmingly named, The Belfast Cowboys. The following weekend, dinner out with DHs siblings, the 20th we will go visit DS in Madison, and the last weekend of January, DH is going to visit DD in Boston, and I have plans to have brunch with the college roomies. So something planned for each January weekend, which is a very good thing indeed, because January can be bleak if you're not proactive.
Diane, I am happy to know your DH will call in the pros when needed. Some people who like to tinker have a hard time stepping aside, and it becomes a whole thing. My brother is a handyman at an independent and assisted living building. He says he usually has an audience when he's working on something in an apartment. He occasionally needs to watch a you tube video when confronted with a new repair. He tries to keep that on the down low from the residents, might not inspire a lot of confidence.
