DH, DS, and I are just back from Sunday breakfast. It is DH's tradition to go every Sunday morning when possible as his Dad used to make a big breakfast every week on Sunday. Luckily I am plenty satisfied with a couple of eggs and a few home fries (though I know I don't need the latter).

So all tests from my PCP for my pre-surgical clearance are in. He ordered the usual annual blood tests at the same time. All is well though my B12 is a bit low and I am in the low end of pre-diabetes for the second year in a row. I sent a note asking if he could prescribe semaglutide for it which would help with the A1C but also help me get a bit of weight off which I think my knees would like. Medicare rules do not allow coverage for weight loss drugs but will for diabetes related treatment. I actually think my PCP will do it if he is allowed to by his practice. Last year because of the shortage of such drugs they were told they couldn't prescribe it except for full diabetes.

Yesterday I never stepped outside - just got things done around the house. Today I have to get the house ready for company tomorrow and overnight and make cookies for tonight. We have been going to DS's birthmother's home for Christmas Eve for the last 10 years.

I hope you have an enjoyable and relaxing Christmas Eve. DD, enjoy being a guest and not a host! Have a celebratory Christmas Eve!

Good morning! Off to brunch at my BILs house in a bit. I will come bearing the rum cake, which looks like it turned out pretty nice. Cutting into it will tell the final tale.

DD slept 8 hours, got up, ate something, and went back to bed. Not sure she will be well enough to join us this morning. :(

Liz, does anyone in your family have diabetes? If yes, your doctor might want to include that info. When DHs doctor sent the pre approval request, she included info that all DHs brothers and maternal uncles had type 2 diabetes. DH did not, but part of the rationale to use semi glutide was to prevent it. Good luck!

Ill probably be off line now until Tuesday. Wishing everyone some joy and peace wherever they find themselves these next few days.

DD probably needs the rest regardless but it is hard for you and her Dad to see her sick.

Good point - my father had it (don't know about brother - should ask)

Greetings all

It's cloudy and gloomy but at least it's not raining. Not yet. I still have gift wrapping to do but it consists of 1: open gift bag 2: insert gift 3: make some kind of tag. Then I will pack stuff into tote bags instead of our usual highly fashionable laundry basket for transport purposes.

DH didn't feel well last night and went to bed early. That meant that I got control of the big TV so I binged on my favorite true crime shows. He seems fine today. I think he was tired from his tech challenged friend. Yeah that guy needs labels and written instructions which I have told DH. He also needs to learn how to listen - DH can't do a complete sentence without being interrupted. Thats part of why it's so comedic - ineffective communication. Does not help that Jerry can't hear.

Sunday breakfast out - what a great concept Liz! I just had poached eggs which could have been better had someone else made them. Glad the blood tests are done. Maybe you could indeed get one of the drugs that help that plus appetite. DD has good ideas. Enjoy Christmas eve.

And DD, sounds like your DD just needs a lot of sleep and good on you for allowing it. It's sometimes hard to have a sick person in the house because one has to be quiet but also listen for needs of sick person. But I bet she is much better by this evening. Hope the rum cake was a success. How could it not be? Makes me think of the rum balls I used to make out of vanilla wafers pulverized in the food processor.

I expect to talk to brother tonight as I have not heard the direct dope on the medical tourism.

Gotta get hair washed and laundry done. Just think how easy life would be if nothing ever had to be washed or cleaned?

Gallery sales are going to give us a record year. I took a load of cash to the bank yesterday. I can check on line to see how the day goes.

Cheers all. Diane S

Gift bags - aren't they the best!

DH binges True Crime shows too. I can watch for a bit but my binging is usually on medical dramas LOL.

I hope you caught up with your brother to find out how the trip went. Hopefully it will accomplish what he pursued it for.

p.s. don't forget to go to Youtube and listen to Aretha sing Joy to the World. Also O Holy Night by Patti Labelle and John Legend.

I would put in a vote for Mahalia Jackson singing Go Tell it on the Mountain. All great songs!

Merry Christmas Eve! I had to run to the store for a few last minute items. Whoowhee there are a LOT of hikers parking along the roads to my house. One I had to honk at as they were parked really close to the 2 lane road with the back door open into traffic as someone was bent over digging around in the backseat. So butt and door in traffic and I couldn't swerve around that because of oncoming traffic. Then a person just stopped smack dab in the middle of the road to let an older woman take pictures. She left the door open and it was not a fast exit (nor I imagine a fast reentry). I swerved around, but the car behind me was not so lucky due oncoming traffic. The picture taker car was still stopped in the middle of the road in my rearview as I rounded the next curve. Tourists!

We do Christmas Day dinner, so tonight is white chicken chili and football. This morning was blueberry pancakes and bacon. I had some cottage cheese this afternoon...

I hope everyone is having a wonderful day with more to come tomorrow!

PS - I bought a grunty pig toy for Kirby at the grocery store. Hilarious! He loves it!

Sounds like Sedona is crazy during the holidays! I expect it will be quieter when we are there in a month? It was when we visited in February of 2022.

So fun to watch puppies enjoy their toys! Sort of like small children in a way.

I think the week from Christmas to New Year is the most crowded! Summer is really the only quiet time, winter is fine though. 3.5 million visitors a year means it's always kind of crowded!
