I guess we were lucky that most of Cape Cod escaped the very high winds though some houses/roads right on the water got flooded. One good reason to not be that close! But the area we were in for the funeral yesterday had a lot of downed trees and power lines. Lots of electricity out and we saw some cars and homes with very large trees on them.

Luckily the family who hosted people back at their home after the funeral didn't have any issues from the storm. I met many extended family members. it was DH's aunt/godmother who passed away at 88. Good, kind people.

We ended up visiting 5 cemeteries yesterday (DH's aunt, his parents, his grandparents, my parents, my DD and late DH). I guess that's what one does at our age.

In between we saw a great old fashioned display for Christmas called the Enchanted Village. It was a well known destination in a store that no longer exists but a furniture store took it over and has a free display of it every year.

The day culminated with a nice dinner with DD and her BF. Still no proposal but I wasn't surprised. She said the two of them are going out alone to celebrate on Saturday and if it is going to happen I expect that will be when.

Today we get to stay on Cape Cod with no specific appointments until we meet my BIL and 2 SILs for dinner. I need to think about wrapping gifts (and I have to mail one to Seattle). The mailed gifts may be a bit late but I think my almost 3 year old Nephew won't mind.

Have a winning Wednesday!

Ugh, still a fever, but nothing else. Cough shut off for the night. I wish the puppy understood I felt crappy! Nope! Up at 5. I eked out a little more sleep, but not much.

Not much on the docket for today. Mostly just puppy care and I am having the solar people come out to give me a quote on adding to my system.

I think that's it! Take care!

The weather here is such a contrast to the East Coast this year! Sunny and 40s. It makes it so much more pleasant to run errands. I got a few things done after my doctors appointment like a trip to Costco. And I just finished making a batch of fudge.

Good check up with my oncologist. She was happy to see my weight loss. I am down 26 pounds from my weight in April 2023. My bloodwork results already showed up in MyChart. I find these things fascinating. I had a few low readings that potentially indicate malnutrition. Go figure. Nothing severe but things like my blood calcium, measures of protein etc were just across the line into low. My iron was good though. I need to do a better job with my supplements, and with eating protein. My Wegovy is approved through April. Even if I re qualify to have my prescription renewed, I'm planning on stopping in April. At least stopping doses intended for weight loss. I would consider medication at lower doses to maintain. But I can't continue this low calorie deficit indefinitely.

After we do our virtual meeting with the retirement people, I'm meeting some co workers for happy hour.

CC so sorry you're sick right at the beginning of the holidays. Get better soon!

DD congrats on the good health news. I too love getting that data in mychart. Sounds like Wegovy has worked well and you can just tweak the calcium and such. I got sloppy about it and have had to redouble. Yay you. GL with retirement people. DS

Greetings all

Oops missed yesterday. I did a lot of stuff (by my standards). Started with Scrabble where I was destroyed by the Shark. Won the second. Third game I was ahead the whole time and then my opponent bingoed out and won by a hair. I have to give him a hard time because he wines the whole game that I am getting all the good letters and then wins! Tee hee. Then a grocery trip, studio stop and various errands. Today the house is being cleaned. The dogs get so excited when the cleaner comes that they rampage the house and today they knocked over DH's leaning jinga tower of junk plus the trash can, all while the phone is ringing with DH's can hear friend. Oy vey.

Speaking of this friend, DH went over yesterday to help him with his cable tv and internet system. Turns out that it wasn't plugged in and that he had somehow returned the modem to the cable store instead of another box. It was totally FUBAR. DH wants this friend to get a new TIVO system but I reminded DH that whatever it is, it must be simple or he is doomed to forever maintaining. Hilarious.

DD enjoy the holidays with no snow in dress shoes and all the rest of it. Dress shoes - what a concept. Love that you do that! Around here dress shoes are anything other than crocs.

Liz glad you escaped the worst storm horrors. It looked awful on the news. Horrible to have a tree on your car for holidays. 5 cemeteries! Thats a lot.

CC who knew a scorpion was worth $1000? Seems like there should be a better way to keep them away. Good to shop around. I wonder if they are averse to something like baking soda. Sorry you don't feel well. Recover soon. Glad folks like the puppy. Who wouldn't? Sounds like a recipe for great holidays if you could lose the illness.

Trying to finalize christmas plans. Mainly determining who will be at dinner so I can have gifts for all. The case of wine plus a few books covers most of it. I will pick up gift cards from the health food store for a few people.

So when did inflatable dinosaurs with Santa hats become a thing? They are everywhere around here. Some yards have multiples. The neighbors have reindeer on a teeter totter which plays music. Kind of surreal.

Today I need to glue a few wine stoppers and do banking. Plus laundry pile has reached epic heights. I think I may make that ricotta cheese bake that is one of the old EggFace recipes. Got the stuff for it.

Poppy barfed all over the old comforter that has been used as a dog bed for years. It's out in the garage now. May just be trash.

Over and out. Diane S

I really dislike those blow-up Christmas decorations and I agree that they seem to have proliferated dramatically. I especially hate how they lie like dead bodies on the lawn during the daytime.

A little less cranky perhaps today. LOL!

I believe I am navigating my dad's demise with open eyes and logic, but I don't think I'm dealing so well with the "I'm watching the person who is my dad dissolve in front of me, little by little, day by day. I called him on Monday and was so shocked to hear "him" answer the phone. I haven't heard that voice in months and months. It took me aback because I realized instantly how much I miss everything that that voice represents. I don't expect any of you, except maybe Liz, to understand what I mean by referencing "his voice". Let's just say that his tone of voice and the way he talks changes as his dementia progresses.

So, my feelings about my dad coupled with the all the commotion that comes with Christmas have me pretty tapped out. I have to focus on what I can control right now.

Puppies are doing beautifully.

Dinosaurs in Santa hats..... How about all the Nightmare Before Christmas stuff, too? Blech....

Peps so sweet that you got to talk to actual Dad. All that no doubt impacts your current mood.

Yay puppies. Boo to Santa T-rex.

I agree that the changes are hard. I had forgotten how late DH stopped being able to talk on the phone - his voice also became high-pitched when he used it (which with his form of dementia was less and less over time). Ultimately we mostly remember who they were before the changes.
