I slept! Amazing how one good night's sleep can make such a difference. We did end up going out for dinner with friends but it was an early one.
This week we need to get ready to host for Christmas but also free up sleeping room for 2 DDs. DS uses 2 bedrooms these days (for sleeping and working) so he needs to move some stuff.
I hope we don't end up with too many cookies - I don't bake a lot like our DD, but DS is doing a cookie swap at work. Could be dangerous if they are really good.
Next year might be Christmas in London probably after or before the actual day. DH's newly married son, who will be based in Poland for 3 years, suggested it and gave us a gift certificate toward airline tickets. That would be an experience!
For the immediate future, I am driving with SIL an hour away for her first radiation appointment and my cortisone injection- the offices are 5 minutes apart. Not a difficult drive except that it is really windy and rainy here today. At least it isn't cold!
Have a mild Monday!
Winter/Holiday sing a long at one school is now in the books. Yay! I only have two more classes today after lunch. Prep and lunch until then.
Shrink this afternoon. I felt like canceling, but what the hell? Might as well bore the shrink with all my f'd upness, too. It's boring the hell out of me!
We, too, have school until Friday. Friday is a short day, so I'll be off at 11:30. Then we get a full two weeks off. We won't go bac****il January 8th. Makes me very happy.
Puppy visits from families this weekend sucked a lot of time. One woman stayed for two hours yesterday. Luckily, we are dog friends, but still, a two hour visit is a lot out of my day. The family on Saturday only stayed an hour, which was appreciated.
Feeling a little bah humbuggy these days. Need to tap my inner elf and get going on Xmas.
Greetings all
The day started with pouring rain but the sun is out now. I know it's a sign of old age to fixate on the weather. Oh well.
Cookies Liz! The best part of Christmas in my opinion. I used to be a complete conoseur of Christmas cookies with stacks of recipes and marked favorites. I don't do them anymore but love those that others make. Used to do those cookie exchanges with the garden club. London Christmas sounds wonderful!
Stopped in the studio today and made a few things. Picked up some completed work. One of our staff members wants us to buy a car or truck because he does not like to use his truck to pick up supplies and such. But it's silly since I bet it's at most a few hundred miles per year. Another thing to argue about. I told him to submit mileage which he has never done.
Yeah some of us have a case of the holiday blahs. Everything is boring or annoying. Me too. Like the above idea that we need a studio car. Peps, hope your mood picks up when you get to holiday break.
Scrabble tomorrow unless it's pouring rain. My internet scrabble site is down. Horrors!
We watched the rest of "The Crown" last night. Good series. I did my walk even though i was really tired and stiff. Sitting around just makes it worse so I gotta do it.
Not much else. Diane S
Submitting mileage on use of the truck is the way to go.
i had Christmas blahs for probably 14-15 years after we lost eldest DD, but then I was able to enjoy the lights, music, and festivities more. I think I was finally able to appreciate the people who were still here and the memories.
Liz, glad to hear you got some sleep at last.
Peps, filled with envy for your 2 week break! We have so many PD days in the calendar, seems like our actual breaks get shorter and shorter.
Diane, I'm with you on the cookies. Homemade cookies are worth the splurge. People who share what they've baked are the best! We got behind on the crown, and had a few season 5 episodes to finish before we can start the new season.
Not much here, work was less eventful than last week! Wednesday we meet with a representative from my pension administrator. Knowledge is power. I think my overall understanding is solid, but I want to make sure.
This time of year I try to make sure that any foods that I don't normally eat that cross my lips are worth the calories. Of course many cookies are in that category!
Good for you looking at the financial aspects of retirement. I didn't do that until the last few years prior but it was really helpful.
