So TIRED! Day 3 of insomnia. It is so weird that I sleep well for long periods, then go through these sleepless nights. Maybe too much sugar close to bed (a tiny slice of carrot cake at around 8 pm)? Or maybe it is a side-effect of being in energizer bunny mode.

The Christmas and new couple celebration yesterday was fun. DH's granddaughter had devised some really fun games to play. I may steal one of them for our Christmas next week. We return there in about an hour for breakfast and then leave at 11:30 to take stepson and his wife to the airport and drive home. My DS wanted me to shop with him this afternoon at the local warehouse store for our Christmas dinner but I may try to beg off and just give him funds. Nothing else to do the rest of the day thank goodness.

Hoping for safe brothers, no scorpions, and puppy lovers! Have a sweet Sunday!

My dad and his wife are coming a day early. So time to stop procrastinating cleaning up the mess! Wish us luck the puppy doesn't drive my dad crazy.

We are at 18 degrees above average today! 68. My folks will be thrilled. Cloudy though. 40s end of next week.

In addition to the scorpion sealing, I found a company that paints this very slick clear material along the bottom of your house that scorpions can't climb. I've left messages for both.

I got Kirby a new snuffle mat so I can put one in the washer, plus they are fun and it's a new challenge. This one took him 20 minutes to find all of his 1/2 cup of kibble.

So just tidying as much as I can is the order of the day...

Take care all! Liz, hope you get some good sleep tonight!

Good luck getting ready for your company. I'm sure Kirby will be irresistible.

Greetings all

The rain is back with a vengeance! Steady rain all day - the kind that really adds up. I was scheduled to work at the studio for a couple of hours. We have an annual christmas sale of all the tons of pottery we make so I took my turn as cashier. Did about $400 in two hours so it's worth it. But I am officially a curmudgeon. Sat there listening to young women chat while they work at the potters wheels. Yikes they all sound like valley girls to me. But kinda fun.

Liz I hope you can get some rest. Skip shopping if you can. Travel takes it out of you.

So we went to my studio buddy's place where she is building a new house. It looks great. Walls, roof and windows and solar are all in. Siding to go up very soon. Then it's time for interior. One thing not there yet is steps and there will be about 5 so we all had to climb a ladder. A very fun small group with wine and pizza. I stopped at the nearby winery for a case for gifts. Anyway I am thrilled that this house is almost there. She lives in a very yucky little cabin next to the new place and deserves a nice home. Great layout with a nice sunset view.

CC those scorpion solutions sound good. I am sure you will make sure the slick stuff is pet safe. I bet your family loves the pup and has fun.

Stopped at the hippy grocery and picked up a pot pie. I them proceeded to impulse shop at their deli. Not a good thing but fortunately I just had a small hand basket. Limited in what I could carry plus I had to get ground turkey for the dogs.

Not much else. The dreary day plus early sunset makes me sort of lethargic. But it's only a week or so until the shortest day of the year. Yay. Diane S

The day got away from me! Last night we went to The European Christmas Market along with everyone else in the Twin Cities Metro area. That's what happens when it's warmer than normal. It stayed in the 40s, even after the sun went down. The crowds stopped us from buying treats, so that was helpful. It was nice to be outside for awhile. Not something I typically do much of in December.

Today I started making Christmas cookies. Got 3 kinds done, 2 more to go. I packed them up tight, except for a little mixed plate for dessert tomorrow. I was torn about making cookies, but then I decided it's okay to loosen the reins a bit this one week. And since neither of my kids have their own families yet, I am still the keeper of the Christmas flame and it's traditions. I know which cookies they will be hoping to see. :) And I like to bring some for my parents.

Last week before break, can you believe we have to go through the whole week? I'm guessing a lot of kids will be absent as the week rolls on. We have 1 week, and New Year's Day off. Any days off are welcome! But two weeks would be better.

Since we already did Christmas with DH's family including the grandchildren it does seem strange that they have a full week of school coming up. I remember those days from when I was a child and from my own children: not much learning was going on and spirits were high, LOL.
