Puppy worlds and changes in Christmas traditions seem to be the theme in our group. I'm sure the puppy will find a home soon - some lucky family will be thrilled to find that a pup is available.
We seem like energizer bunnies because we feel that we have to. Also I think it is because we can: We still have the energy to do the running around. We don't want to miss out on excursions or spending time with loved ones. I sometimes find myself feeling a bit jealous of some of the Florida folks staying home and having the children visit after Christmas Day. But that means they don't have family/friends elsewhere I guess. Both DH and I do have a fair amount of close family and friends we like to spend time with over the holiday. We are very lucky that they are in the same area. Assuming I sell my Cape Cod house this year (as is the plan), it will be a bit more difficult as DH's Cape home is further away from people, but I'm sure we will manage. But some day, I'd like to have people come to me vs what we do now.
Time to get cleaned up and packed for the overnight near DH's DD. The presents are already in the car but we have to remember the champagne to toast the youngest DS and his new wife.
Have a safe and satisfying Saturday!
What you say is so true Liz. You and your DH are deeply connected to many people, and that is a blessing.
Our dear friends are on their way to Taiwan this morning! Their son married a woman who is Taiwanese. They married and live here, but are also having a wedding in Taiwan. What an adventure!
We had a very nice, quiet evening at home. We spent some time looking at options for a quick getaway to Florida in February. The hotels in St. Pete Beach are over $400 a night, so I think we'll just go to a resort in Orlando again, where we can find something workable for $200 or under. For this trip, I just want to rest in a lounger by a pool, and go out to eat someplace nice in the evening, listen to some music. Just low key. I only have 3 personal days, so its a quick trip. Spring break is the first week of April. We can do something more energetic then.
Vikings game at noon today, then if it's not drizzling, we will go to the European type Christmas Market in St. Paul.

I was drying my hair this morning and Kirby was scratching at the bottom of the sauna (yes, the bathroom came with a huge infrared sauna). I didn't think anything of it until he ran to me, chasing something and I think he yelped, but not entirely sure if it was in pain or excitement as the hairdryer was wailing. I looked, and there was a f*$king scorpion! Not sure if it stung him, I called the vet. The vet said to watch him for any signs of swelling and if I see any, give him 25mg of Benadryl. He'a so squidgy already, I couldn't tell what was puppy pudge and what could be swelling, so I gave him the Benedryl. He seems fine, just very sleepy.
Anyway, I got online and started researching scorpion house sealing because the monthly spraying isn't working. There are several companies in Phoenix that advertise it and I've emailed them since they aren't open, to find out if they work up here. I've absolutely had enough! I don't care what it costs if it works.
So that and watching Kirby sleep are all that's on my mind today... hope you all have good days!
If they can seal your house so no scorpions can get in, very worth it. Arizona is teeming with all kinds of creatures! That's one upside to the tough winters in Minnesota, it cuts back on the dangerous creepy crawling things, no scorpions, no termites, no venomous snakes and spiders... I guess you have to "pay the price" one way or the other to be free of these things...
Greetings all
Still in my jammies and drinking coffee. It's another blue bird day with no wind. Not like Florida which appears to have bad storms. We watch on CNN wondering how the person standing out in the storm yelling managed to get that job. Short straw DH says.
Liz I bet you are out of Florida. Sounds like you have some fun plans. Toast the newlyweds and visit family. You are indeed lucky to have nice family and a DH who embraces them.
I have the holiday urge to do something nice for others. There is a new group of about six people called the Humboldt Soup Ladies. They make hot food and take it to a homeless camp. Started as a movement to help the pets of the homeless and feral cats but expanded to help people. Some of these people won't leave their personal nests for fear someone else will steal what little they have. Anyway seems like a good cause where donations won't get burned up in bureaucracy. I think I mentioned the Toys Grinch was busted. Had a house full of guns.
DD hoping you get your Florida trip in. Pool + sun + book = good time. Enjoy every minute.
CC scorpion! Yikes again! By all means do whatever it takes to seal them out. They don't need to be in your house. What a visual you conveyed with the hair dryer, fussing and sauna! I looked up scorpios and they eat little bugs. So what. Plenty of bugs outside.
Not much to do today other than stop at the winery and go see friends new house under construction. It's a few miles inland so it will be a bit warmer than the 65 here today. Laundry and general picking up needed but thats everyday around here.
Brother is back in USA but I have not talked to him yet.
Food front is rather sad. I don't feel like I eat all that much but it's clearly the wrong stuff. DH brought home fish and chips yesterday and there was plenty for both of us. It was not very good. Even Tesla would not eat it. Poppy did though. It was funny to watch what she did to steal Tesla's bites.
We are watching new episodes of The Crown. Entertaining.

Happy Saturday. Hope everyone had a good day when all was said and done! It's close to 7 pm on the east coast and the sun has started its earnest descent here. Hopefully, Kirby had no scorpion reaction. Thinking good thoughts for our little man!
Another stellar session with the eating disorder shrink.... NOT! Perhaps this is all part of the process, but I'm not enjoying this part of it. Being triggered by one's own therapy sessions is unpleasant.
Pups are doing great with weaning. Had some puppy visits today and will have more tomorrow.
The GOAT v3.0 has finally landed back home. It's been in the shop since August 10th!!!! It could have been home weeks and weeks ago, but the service advisor was not on the ball AT ALL!
Not much else.
Boy, RVs and the repair people seem to be very finicky. Homes are tough enough for me to keep up with.
