As mentioned yesterday we discovered that 2 of our traveling group has COVID. We were hoping that since we had our boosters 3 weeks ago we wouldn't get it but DH got very stuffed up last night. So a COVID test is happening in a bit. I'm sure he has it but I feel fine so far. I may have to buy more at home tests since we only have 2 left from the government supplied ones. We used 2 before the wedding in Vermont. It annoys me to have to pay for them since neither Medicare nor our prescription plan covers them. When we were traveling in the late spring one country (either New Zealand or Australia) had bins full of free tests at the airport. What a great idea!
Assuming DH has it we have to call the sisters and see what they want to do. I don't think either of them has had it previously. If they decide to come (DH would confine himself until clear and I would keep testing), I need to do some errands today. At least the Christmas decorating got done yesterday!
Have a more or less good Monday!
I have so many tests, wish I could hand you a few. Minnesota is also giving them out, so I ordered from them and the federal program. Maybe Florida has one? Or can you order more than once from the federal program? I thought so, but maybe I'm wrong. Anyhow, that wouldn't help right now anyhow, but might be good to stock up.
Back at it today. I have one class that is extra deregulated on Mondays. They had a hard time watching 20 minutes of a high interest movie. To add insult to injury, the wind chill was-1 this morning!!! But now I am back home, drinking tea and reading the paper. The nest is quiet, and even though I love having them home, I don't mind the quiet either. I wish they lived closer so we could do lunch, or meet for dinner etc. I tell myself they are right where they need to be for now, learning and following their own paths. There path was not to stay too close to Mama apparently :)
Florida suggests that we order tests through the US site which only allows 4 per address. Not enough obviously since I know of people who have gotten sick but didn't test because they didn't have at-home tests so went about their business given that they didn't know if they had COVID. Sigh. I will buy a couple, since DH is positive (though I still feel fine @ dinner time on Monday).
Greetings all
It's a brilliant fall day and while it's calm at our house, I hear the waves at the ocean are huge. People actually surf here though it's cold and a heavy wet suit is essential. No thanks.
Stopped in the studio for a bit today and picked up some finished stuff. Will take it to the gallery tomorrow. Contemplating dinner and trying to determine the easiest thing.
Liz so sorry Mike is sick. Not fun. And sorry tests are lacking. At CVS here they have drive through tests or at least they used to. DH and I have managed not to get sick. Yay for vaccinations. Hope you stay well Liz and that DH gets through it quickly.
Yep DD sounds like a Monday for you. I am sure you agree that short attention span is in part due to electronics. Glad your day is on the relaxing side.
We have started watching "The Buccaneers" which is apparently based upon an Edith Wharton story. It's kind of fun. Ditto George Gently. Watching too much tv is probably why we have not gotten covid.
Hey the sourhwest florida eagle camera eagle nest now has two eggs! Second one laid a couple of hours ago. And the Big Bear eagles are actively nesting though no eggs until january.
My college email list just had a post that you could get tickets through the AARP to the new Rolling Stones tour. Not sure if it's a joke but either way it's funny. I saw them 30 years ago. How can that be?
I had cold steak for lunch today. Not a bad thing.
CC hug that puppy for us. Diane S
I agree, electronics have really impacted reading and attention stamina. We're used to getting info in bite sized chunks. How many conversations have you had with life long readers who now struggle to get through a book? When I'm starting a new book, I often put my phone and tablet in a different room, otherwise I'll start reading, and then find myself picking up my phone and start surfing. DH struggles with this too.
I think the vaccinations mostly just make Covid less dangerous when you get it. All 3 times DH has had it and the 2 times I have were via exposure to family/friends over an extended period of time (so maybe the vaccines also make it so that less extended contact is less likely to spread it). At all points we were fully up to date on vaccinations/boosters.

Oh puppyhood. This is HARD. So. Many. Potty. Accidents. I take him out and he just wants to roll on the grass and play with the leash instead of going potty. Or curls up on my feet for a nap. So we go back inside where he pees or poops. I'm nearing my wits end! I can't take him out without the leash because he lunges for the small rocks that are the mulch everywhere in my backyard and tries to eat them. Today he discovered the fountain that is filled with glass pieces. God help us. I'm covering that tomorrow with a tarp or something. And insult to injury, my back went out while I was bent over digging glass out of his mouth. So bending is very limited now. Deeeeeep breaths....
It's all consuming. How do Peps and Diane do this all the time?!
Hope you all are well!
