We are in Fort Lauderdale looking out at the ocean while finishing coffee. It was nice to arrive a day ahead of the family. We were able to finish packing, drop off the dog, and drive here at a leisurely pace.

We met my stepson (what is the abbreviation for that???) and his fiancé for dinner at a nice Greek place. I sat next to the fiancé and we chatted about many things including their plans to have at least one child. Yeah!!! I will be a grandmother after all! They are getting married on their own in December so the diplomatic visa etc. can be obtained - they will be living in Poland for 3 years beginning in June. Their wedding celebration is already booked for the first weekend in May down here.

Oh and I talked to my DD before we left for dinner. Her BF told her he is going to officially proposal over the holiday. He is shopping for the ring. DD says she wants a wedding between Labor Day and Columbus Day on Cape Cod. Lots happening next year!

In the meantime we are getting ready for the family's arrival. They flew out of Boston on a 6 am flight so will be here at the hotel by 10. Time to get our morning walk in (I miss Justice already). Have a super Saturday!

Liz, what happy family news! One day a grandbaby, your daughter married to someone you trust to be her partner... And in the meantime, will you travel to Poland at some point?

The weather here has not been bad at all for November. The weekend will be quite tolerable with potential highs of 50.

Today we are going to go have coffee, and drop off the bags of clothes and books I sorted last week at the St. Vincent DePaul thrift store. They have something called Marge's Book Nook in their store, where they sort out the more current books or best sellers. I buy a lot of books from them (Like a Gentleman in Moscow). It's lovely to not have to sort through all the mishmash of books that typically get donated to thrift stores. I will be happy to let them resell the books I've purchased and give them new ones. They do great work, and offer low income kids in the neighborhood a chance to come in and shop for school clothes for free.

After that, we're getting a new dishwasher. We've narrowed it down to 2 models, now just need to look at them in person and decide which one to buy. The item of debate: the handle. I think I prefer a flush door, but I need to see it.

Tomorrow we are attending a memorial for a dear friend. He was Jewish, and the tradition is family gathers at the grave sight each year on the anniversary of his death, and has a prayer service. Our friend passed away 3 years ago. We are honored to be invited to this family remembrance each year.

The Christmas Tree is lit up and "fluffed". We will finish decorating this evening. Each year we have to decide whether we are going all out. It's not today that's the problem, it's having to take it all down later. Is the " joy" of a fully decorated home worth the "pain" of having to pack it up all later? I'll let you know what we decide.

The scale finally moved a bit. Why does that feel so good? The fight goes on ...

I feel your Christmas decorating conundrum! Personally, I think Christmas should be biannual (the every two years definition...).

I love seeing the decorations at Christmas but also dread putting them away.

We do plan to go to Poland at some point most likely during 2025.

It a rainy morning here in Sedona. What a nice change! Everything really needed a wash down, so this is nice. Not much else going on here. Finalizing the puppy preparations, doing laundry. Grocery store at some point this weekend and a hair appointment tomorrow.

That's it!

You have a hairdresser open on Sunday? That's convenient!

Normally not! But she was under the weather yesterday and today, and is doing make-up appointments tomorrow... I'm grateful as I want to stick close to home for the next few weeks.

Liz, not sure if I should be asking you this here, but where else???? Once Paul became incontinent was the downhill slide well on its way? My dad has been urinating in his sleep (though he argues this...) and is quite sure there is something amiss with his urinary anatomy as this only happens first thing in the morning. His Depends are full of liquid and he believes he is gushing liquid from his pubic region and not urinating through his penis.) He called the dr. this morning to schedule an appt. for a phone consultation. Luckily, we get notified of all medical appts. Going to be a hard one for him to hear from and MD that he is incontinent.

Had a decent session with the eating disorder shrink.... I am understanding more and more why ostriching is a preferred method of dealing with our behavioral foibles around eating and food. UGH.... this **** is work.

I feel physically a little better this morning. I took half a CBD/CBN/THC gummy last night and slept rather well. I got 7 hours a decent sleep. I did wake up several times, per usual, but 7 hours beats the 5 or so I have been getting.

Gotta try to get more fruits and veggies in this week. That's my goal anyhow.

Hives are somewhat better. IT usually takes a full week for them to resolve when I got a good bout like this. Horrible to have the hives right in the waistband area of my body. Pants rub it all day long. I have prednisone for one of the dogs and am tempted to take it...

Do give the Zyrtec a try. It's non-drowsy and makes mine go away immediately!

PS - I meant to ask you, do you have pet insurance? I didn't for Ferg and it would have paid for itself with all his medications, specialists, tests, etc. But there are so many to choose from...
