Beautiful morning here. I love the weather in south Florida in the fall.
The boat ride yesterday was really fun. We liked the size of the boat (3 feet shorter than the one we trained on). We are renting that boat again and a pontoon next week. DH docked with the help of the club staff easily at the end but they also offered extra training anytime to practice it. I may have to do that (I tried it once during training and did okay but it makes me nervous).
The neighborhood get-together was good for meeting people though I lowered the average age by 10 years and there was a confrontation between 2 neighbors
Book Club was also good with a lively discussion of the book and lots of socializing. Nice to make friends.
Today involves an appointment for DH with a wound care nurse to check his healing and waiting for Habitat for Humanity to pick up unused furniture at the old house. They are always good to work with as they take almost everything and have a nice ReStore nearby where we go to look for things on a regular basis. Great organization.
Time to change for our Justice walk. Have a thorough Thursday!
A confrontation!! I think we will need more details!!
We finished All the Light We Cannot See. I really loved it, until the end. The book's ending was more powerful (says DH) and for me, more poignant. Books rarely make me cry, but the ending for this one did.
A friend recommended the Fall of the House of Usher. We might start that next. Other recommendations?
Today was fairly uneventful. I'll take it! Glad the week is wrapping up. Next week, 5 days of school, then only 2 days the following week, and we're to Thanksgiving break.
We watched the second and third episode of All the Light We Cannot See. No other ideas of what to watch next unfortunately.
Greetings all
Well the sun popped out just as it is on its way out of town. Sky looks clear toward the ocean. A good thing.
I spent time glazing at the studio today but didn't get things done in time to load into the big kiln. Oh well, it will keep. Stopped at the credit union to get forms to start my IRA distributions but they gave me some ridiculous story to the effect that they could not give me that until next year when I will turn 73. How dumb is that? Legally I can take that any time. Plus it took three people and calls to other branches to figure this out plus a long time. Annoying.
Liz lucky you to have a thrift store that will get stuff and make good use of it. Glad the boating was fun and that there is such a thing as a wound care nurse. And yes, we want to hear about the confrontation at the party! Dirt and details!
DD you are making me want to get that book. The tv ending was not very satisfying. So the book must have had a different ending.
Just had a snack and now I really want a nap. But the dogs are lurking. They can wait.
Yoo Hoo Peps, puppy chronicles wanted!

8.5 mile hike today. I am positively wrecked! The last several miles I was ailing and my ankles are still throbbing with their own heartbeat. It was so beautiful though - a trail called the West Fork Trail that meanders along Oak Creek with 26 stream crossings total, in and out. I managed not to fall in! But all the balancing and the mileage meant a lot of stress on all our little stabilizing muscles. We've done it 6 years ago, but I was a lot lighter then (and 6 years younger). I really need a day off tomorrow from any hikes.
We also hiked a different part of Oak Creek yesterday that was also really pretty. The whole area is really pretty!
Yesterday (Cathedral Rock):
Today:
Liz, we really need more details about the confrontation! And Peps, about the puppies!
