Off to walk shortly - this is the first day DH thinks he can do the full 3.5 miles. The last couple of days he has only done part of it then I continued on with Justice. He wants to try the gym today (on the elliptical without using his left arm), but I think I convinced him to wait another day. DH's heart rate was 71 yesterday at a quick check vs the 39 before the procedure. Much better!

Last night was leftovers as is tonight. Both are the lower calorie recipes I tried out recently. But we also have the cranberry bread and muffins we made yesterday - some of it needs to go into the freezer.

We are boating tomorrow (have our reservation in). Assuming that goes well we may go Friday too. We have to work around follow-up appointments for DH on Thursday and Friday.

Have a terrific Tuesday!

One of my neighbors said she was here without her husband and to let her know if I wanted to go for a hike or walk. So I invited her this morning to walk with us. It was supposed to be an easy hike, but she asked if we wanted her to show us an old trail not in use anymore to the top of the mountain to our neighborhood's south that has fantastic views and ruins at the top. I said sure, knowing my other neighbors have done it, but unsure about the steepness.

Lord almighty, it was SO STEEP! And loose rocks. I thought I was going to die and was so freaking scared at some points. But we made it to the top and back down (mostly on my butt!). Glad to have completed it, but can't imagine doing it again. Literally shaking like a leaf at some points. 3/4 of a mile straight up and back down. Here are pics:

Where we ended up (starting from the bottom, up to crack in the red circle)

View from the top out the back side of the crevice:

View back down to my neighborhood:

Despite all the steps, hiking any climbing for 3 days, I'm up 4 pounds! Inflammation hopefully.

I think we are going to the movies this afternoon to see the Meg Ryan/David Duchovny one, What Happens Later.

That's it for me!

Beautiful, beautiful vista, but sounds so terrifying. Glad you survived. Savor the incredible beauty you saw, and guard it deep in your heart so you are never tempted to do it again

I said at one point (nervous laughing near tears) that I had to keep going as it was the only time I was ever going up there!

Beautiful but does look difficult and a bit nerve-wracking!

Good to hear that your DH makes progress every day. So what type of boat are you taking out tomorrow.

I forgot to vote today, local election stuff, so I guess I'm going back out, most likely in the dark, as the sun is starting to set. Luckily, our polling place is not far at all.

In keeping with my self agreement, I shared with DH what went down today at work. I will share these tidbits here and move on. We had a SPED meeting with a lower level admin today, that included people crying and saying they weren't going to make it through the year. I asked what their plans were for the longer game, because they can't fill the openings they currently have, how will they fill new openings this spring? The answer, to believe in the process. And that concludes my report from the trenches today.

DH bought a street taco kit from Costco. We've had them before, pretty tasty. I should go vote, so I can get home and enjoy them.

The boat is a Sea Ray SPX 190. Says it is for cruising only. We figure we will try out different ones to see what we like. The 22 foot we trained on seemed too big (this is 19).

Believe in the process? Yeah, right! That never bodes well.

Greetings all

Sun is out big today. Played scrabble and won two of three. I was defeated by the shark but our scores were 548 to 460! Almost a thousand total. He had a triple triple for 227 points! Impressive.

Liz glad Mike is improving but I think you are right to discourage excess. It will come. Enjoy boating.

CC holy cow, that hill is huge! Scary indeed. No way would I try that. Reminds me of my expert ski buddy who would always goad me into going onto runs that were way too hard. One time it was getting dark before I got back. But those views are beautiful. Now you know where not to go. Was it easy for your friends? Did you have a hiking stick?

DD sorry the work woes continue. Sounds like almost a crisis. No job should be that distressing. Something has to give.

Not much else. I have more take out deli food so dinner is set.

I am considering a gas log fireplace for our home. We have nothing. I have not told DH yet. I don't think he cares. Just a matter of figuring out where to put it. There is no obvious spot and major rearranging needed. Might never happen.

Oooh, I think a gas fireplace sounds just right for your climate! Cozy. Convenient. We have a wood burning fireplace, and we have a fire several times a week in late fall/winter. We use Duraflame logs which are very convenient and low mess, but a gas fireplace would be even more so.

I have a gas log in the fireplace in my living room up north and my sunroom up there is heated by a gas fireplace. They are very warming but also cheery.
