Long day yesterday! We left at 11 and didn't get home until just before 7. I did stop back home at around 1 to get something to eat and take Justice for a walk. This is the second time I have dealt with Florida hospitals: the first was when my eldest had surgery in Miami. Both times it felt like stepping back in time in terms of the way they had patients deferring to the convenience of the surgeons which is not the case in the hospitals in Massachusetts. DH's surgeon did his procedures in batches - 4 in a row, then all the patients had to wait for him to be ready to talk to them and dismiss them. So a 1 hour procedure with a 2 hour recovery period took 6 hours total. But all is good except he is very sore. He can return to all normal activities right away except golfing and similar motions which have to wait for a month. This morning we set up the fancy transmitter which will send information on his heart rate automatically to his cardiologist. Cool technology!
Today we have to get the car serviced and hopefully take a walk. DH hasn't been for a walk for several days and was missing it. I suspect we will stay close to home tonight vs our usual Friday nights.
Have a Fine Friday and welcome to the puppies!!!
One month without golf? Hope it passes quickly.
Your comments about health care resonate with me. At one time we thought we would sell our house and move to Florida, or somewhere south. (It seems unlikely we will be able to afford 2 homes). But as we get older, and have more health issues, I don't know if I could leave Minnesota behind. Massachusetts has many similarities to Minnesota, and we've considered moving to the East Coast, but cost of living is higher than Minnesota... We do pay higher taxes here than many other places, but I feel like we get a good return on our money generally, so I don't mind.
Had a really fun time at the Pub Night. The group playing this month were a blues band, something I love. Music, wine, congenial conversation between sets. I read a quote that was something like, Art washes away the dust of the day. Yes.
Time to get ready to head out to my parents house. Not sure if I can post tomorrow, Internet i**** and miss.
DH is melting on his combination of Wegovy and Weigh****chers. I'm still losing at a rate of about 3 pounds a month which is easier to deal with now that I've lost enough to notice it.

The cleaning continues! My bed changed, living room vacuumed, dusting done. I'm plodding along with ipad breaks.
I think tidying would be easier if everything had a home in, but it doesn't. And being in flux furniture-wise, doesn't help!
Anyway, off to straighten and clean some more.

There's just so much. It's construction clean up and getting ready for guest clean up. Moving things that were in the wrong place after the construction guys left, finding thick tile dust on all the closet shelves requiring ladder to get to the top to wipe them all off, wiping dirty tile muck handprints and white tile water splashes off all the dark wood doors. Every time I think I'm close, I find another big task to add to the list!
But I'll get there...
I am feeling a bit wiped out today. For some reason even having the c section took a lot out of me. Not sure why. I think it's because I haven't been sleeping well overall. I broke down and bought a boat load of sleep gummies. They work well, but I hate having to rely on TCH, CBN, and CBD to get good sleep. I suppose it beats the hell out of using sleeping pills! I bought strong ones, so I will have to cut them in half to start, I think.
Pups and mama seem to be doing well. I did not like having a full litter of c section pups. The pups are not as vigorous. They are meant to travel through the birth canal and be pushed and massage through birth. Cutting them out doesn't get them going in the same way. Then mama is drugged and not licking and stimulating the way she normally would. However, I'm glad we did the c section because of the adhesions that were found. (I think I mentioned that in last night's late post.)
Liz, glad Mike is doing okay after his procedure/surgery. Health care is not consistent nationwide, that is certain. I hear about how people have to deal with things in other areas of the country and I am amazed. Though, it could be because I know how to work my HMO and have a very "on top of things" primary care doctor. DD, I htink you are wise to consider your medical needs. My mom's criteria for retirement was easy access to good medical care. Minnesota is known nationwide for its excellent medical care systems. I would be hard pressed to leave, too. Plus Minnesota is just plain nice - people and geography! Plus your infrastructure is incredible. Your tax money is well managed and spent, unlike here in CA.
I drank little to no water yesterday. Boy was I thirsty by last night! I had breakfast and then nothing until dinner - too busy monitoring, I guess. Weight was stable. Still need to drop another pound or two to feel back in my comfort zone.
So happy it's Friday and there are NO DOG SHOWS this weekend. LOL!
I never realized that the actual birth process helped invigorate the offspring. I would guess that is the case for for dogs it likely is for other mammals (like humans?). Food for thought.
Get some rest - I'm sure yesterday was stressful and that is very exhausting.
greetings all
It's sunny and fall here. I am doing cleaning starting with myself and then on to laundry and general debris pick up. DH went out to lunch so I had the house to myself for awhile. Not that I do anything different but its just that I could....
Liz we are grateful that Mike's procedure went well. Who knew that you could "log in" to your cardiologist. But it makes sense. These days they advertise these phone apps that take a medical grade ekg. But if you don't have someone to read it, what good is it. Yes medical stuff varies so much from state to state. I think most midwestern states have good medical. The medical school back in Omaha had a nationally reputed transplant center. I have often thought that if we ever leave CA it will be because of spotty medical care. Part of that is because we are rural.
And ditto Peps about midwestern infrastructure. Its solid. We never had power outages back there with public power. CA could learn a few things. Everything is pretty junky up here.
And Peps, congrats on the pups. Tiring now matter how they arrive. I did not know about the stimulation of the birth process but it makes sense. Only one of the pups from our litter had to be turned upside down and rubbed to get her going. The rest were born wiggling. Guess that means you have to hug and snuggle them all the more. Enjoy. And yay for 4 little *****es!
DD sounds like a fun night. And kudos to your DH for weight loss success. Don't ya hate how men can lose weight so fast?
Well I got back to my walking after two days of goof off. I keep reminding myself that if I do this I will have less pain. It's a better motivation than most anything else.
Gallery duty tomorrow which will conflict with our football game. What to do? Oh yeah, we still have TIVO.
More cold cuts for lunch today. But I find myself drinking a lot of water. Must be all the salt.
So I just wrote a letter to a politician in washington. Pertained to guns. 'nuff said.
