We slept from 9:30 last night until almost 8 this morning! It feels good to be fully rested.
We are still in NY after visiting with DH's daughter and grandchildren yesterday afternoon. We did freeze at a softball game in the afternoon then had a nice dinner out. My stepdaughter introduced me to someone as her stepmother which kind of surprised me (I would have expected her to call me her Dad's wife). Subtle difference but I thought it was a positive. My own DS was commenting this weekend about how DH was now family to him. Nice transitions. I think us being happy makes them happy?
Today we may go to Saratoga Springs for lunch (our only decent meal of the day). We need to be at the airport at 3, and should be home by about 9 tonight. Good thing we slept well last night. I am looking forward to picking up Justice at 8 tomorrow morning so we can all have our usual morning walk.
One last thing: you know how usually things that are supposed to be delivered on a certain day either come that day or are late? I had ordered a bed frame which was supposed to be delivered tomorrow. It arrived on Saturday! And instead of leaving it by our front door which is under cover as every other delivery we have gotten has been left, they left it leaning on the garage where there is no cover! A kind neighbor put it into the garage for us. We need to have a mattress delivered too so now I am trying to make sure it isn't coming anytime around when we are going to be away again.
Enough with that. Time to get motivated this morning after our late start. Have a marvelous Monday!

Well that was a long way to go for a wedding! Not sure I'll go to the other two kid's weddings when they come around. The bride (my cousin's daughter) looked like a stunning model. The location was beautiful and the weather perfect (that oart of Virginia is unbelievably beautiful). I talked to each of my 3 cousins for a few minutes (understandably busy with the festivities), never talked to the happy couple, and was seating alone at a table with my cousin's husband's cousins and their spouse and dates. The people who would have been on my left departed before the reception, so I just had the date of one of the not-my-cousins to my right. She was nice, but the band (who was great) was so loud we couldn't hear each other and eventually gave up trying. So it was mostly 2 hours of sitting alone.
When the dancing had just started and the whole family was on the dance floor, my dad came over and said he was tired and wanted to go. So we didn't have a chance to say goodbye to anyone. This did nothing to change my mind that weddings are only fun if you're part of it!
I had the nicest guy sitting next to me on the flight home. He was in a car accident on the way to airport in Chicago, had to walk up the highway to the next offramp to get a second Uber and realized once the shock wore off that his hand was broken in the accident. The flight attendants gave him a bag of ice, I gave him Advil and his hand proceeded to bruise and swell the whole flight. We had a lot of fun talking and turns out he grew up in the city I lived in in CA and were born in the same hospital. He went to high five me for being "Hoag babies", but realized it was his broken hand. We had similar laments about what has happened to CA and he moved to AZ for the same reasons I did, so it was nice to meet a fellow escapee.
Today I am meeting with the landscaper because they started the grass pad underlayment when I was gone and it's not the shape we discussed. Had they come Wednesday and Thursday like they promised I would have been here to tell them it was the wrong shape, He knew I was gone Friday, so I don't feel bad for making them redo it. It's way too expensive to not be what I asked for! After that, I have a finance meeting for the non-profit I am quitting in 12 months .
I think that's it. Cooler weather settling in thank goodness...
Nice that you met someone to talk to on the plane after being drowned out at the wedding. I don't know why bands/DJs still do that. Too bad about the guy's hand though!
Hello ! I can't tell you how many posts I have started but never finished. I try to keep up with your posts, but I have been neglecting making my contribution. Our tribe is so important to me, though it may not show. Although things are calm and peaceful in my life, I still am hesitant to put too much out there on OH. I'll post in TT this week ! I am looking forward to all of us getting together !!!

Greetings all
Quick check in while my hair dries. The sun is out and I should go sit in it to dry but it's maybe 60 degrees.
Liz congrats on a good nights sleep. You must have needed it. Don't you wish that was every night? And what were those people thinking to leave a furniture item outside uncovered? Duh and dumber. And I am so glad for you that your DS has come around to valuing your DH. I recall he was a bit reluctant. What a great job you have done blending families.
CC sounds like the wedding was a good one but travel not so much.. I am with you on loud music. Might as well be alone. Thats why I don't like live music in bars. No way to talk. Glad you had a nice person next to you on the plane. And good for you for making the yard guys redo stuff. How dumb is that to get it wrong.
Ocean Diane good to hear from you! Don't wait until you have profound comments to post. All is good here. We want to hear paddle tales! There was a witch paddle in the bay here on Saturday. Looked fun. I think witch paddles are a "thing".
I am going down to the studio shortly to pick up new stuff out of the kiln. I don't remember exactly what I have - I think a couple of owls. Good thing because I sold 4 things from the gallery this morning.
Studio buddy is coming over to watch the 49er's tonight, hence my bet of a twinkie with DD. Pizza will be involved. No actual twinkies will be harmed.
DH has a sore foot. Not sure whats up. He is such a big baby it's hard to tell when it's serious. I am assuming not.
We watched a strange movie last night. The Pigeon Tunnel. It was all one long interview with the author John Le Carre whose real name is David Cornwell or something. Interesting but a tad tedious.
Well time to get dressed in my usual uniform of sweats. No wonder I get so many LLBean catalogs.

DH is making sure he is free to watch the Vikings vs 49ers game, although there is a certain masochism in being a Vikings fan. Wait until he hears Twinkies are on the line.
CC, too bad congenial plane guy couldn't have been a table mate at the wedding. Would have passed the time more pleasantly, even if you would have had to shout over the music.
Liz, you're in route now to Florida, hope traveling is uneventful. It's lovely that your families are melding. Sounds like DS is in a good place these days.
Beautiful day here, bonus days really. One can't count on such stellar fall days this far into October, so this string of sunny days in the 60s is a real gift.
DD is flying to Boston as we speak, a quick visit. She'll be home again soon for Thanksgiving.
So they did give us some more info about my direct, and now former supervisor. He asked to step down, and will most likely take one of the unfilled special education positions at a middle school in our district. Very good news that he is not sick. The talk on the street is he wasn't okay with the new direction the Sped Admin was taking. Neither are we teachers. Today, they added another task to our plates, but assured us there would still be time to hold our IEP meetings. Oh well. I'll do what I can do. There's not really anything else that can be done. Que sera, sera.
Still have lots of broccoli cheese soup and chili to eat, so no need to worry about what's for dinner.
Sounds like at some point higher admin will have to recognize that the Sped Admin is causing people to leave (or want to). I hope it doesn't take too long.
