Good day traveling yesterday though getting up so early yesterday was tough. We slept well last night. I was very happy to see some fall color though I wish there was some sun to brighten it up especially for the wedding couple. It is predicted to rain all weekend. The wedding venue is an old hotel with a lot of charm but it is a bit dated in the rooms. I almost messed up because I had told DS he could stay in our room but forgot I had booked a king vs 2 queens. Problem solved with a portable bed brought in. We did have one hiccup on the way here - a young woman banged into the back of our rental car while we were stopped at a red light. Luckily it is minor so we don't have to do anything mid-trip though DH did call to report it to the rental company.

Today will be a slow day until the wedding at 3:30. I am missing our usual walk especially since we didn't get one yesterday. My ankles were swollen last night with no walk and sitting on the plane. They are down this morning thank goodness. I have always felt that consistently walking through ones's life is critical to healthy longevity. I found this in The NY Times supporting my hypothesis: Walking Benefits. I am missing Justice around to walk with too.

Time to figure out when and where to have brunch. have a satisfying Saturday!

Fall colors here are beautiful, a little less red than usual because of a summer drought, but the yellows and holds are like fire in the trees. Fun to stay in the same hotel with other guests! Easy to get to bed after the reception.

I think you are so right about the walking Liz. I bet its a big contributor to how you've maintained your weight these last few years. My Dad walked 5 miles faithfully, everyday, even in the winter. All the men in his family, uncles, Dad, older cousins, even his brother, died of big cardiovascular events by their early 50s. My Dad did have a heart attack at 65, but the difference is, he postponed it for 10 years, and he survived. His cardiologist says the walking played a huge part. At 85, he's not walking 5miles anymore, but he still does 2 or 3 most days.

Easy day today, I'm going to do some laundry, make some soup, and some time for reading. The house is pretty clean, as DH did housekeeping before his brother arrived on Wednesday. I say pretty clean, because everything is picked up, and the floors are vacuumed, but it is not dusted and there are stacks of junk mail on the dining room table. DH feels he's cleaned if he stacks the piles neatly. When I bring in the mail, I stop at the recycling bin in the garage and dump most of it before it ever gets in the house. His brain sees it differently. I think it's just hard for him to toss anything.

Enjoying my new favorite treat, Earl Grey tea, with steamed fair life milk and a shot of sf vanilla Torani. Little pleasures ...

Though I hate to stereotype, that type of cleaning seems to be a feature of many men.

Greetings all

It's a sunny day here and feels like fall. We watched out team and they won. It was ugly and sloppy but we will take it. I am finally going to finish the chicken spinach for tonight. Anything is good with a blob of sour cream.

We contine to watch George Gently which is proving to be a good cop murder series. I suggested to DH we turn on the closed captions. He always turns them off if I have them but this time he decided it's a good idea. We also watched a couple of episodes of the Bosch Legacy cop show. Big on police stuff these days.

Yep you all are right about the walking benefits. My grandfather lived to be 93 and for all but the last year of his life he walked. He lived in a small town were people would look out for him. He was the one who was driving into his 80s until my dad stopped him by taking parts out of his car. My grandmother lived to be 94 and she was a person who just never sat still. Always on some chore or project. I am the opposite but i do recognize the need. Hence I am still walking on the treadmill because I can hold on to handles. Ditto DH.

Liz that wedding sounds fun. Vintage venues really warm up with lots of people and happy events. Enjoy. You too CC wherever you are.

DD thanks for sharing the walking anecdote on your dad and his brothers. We all need reminders of this. My azs is not going to get worn out by walking. More likely to wear it out by sitting. Why does shoe leather get thinner with use but my butt does not get smaller from being sat on?

Today's *****: junk mail. I just finished throwing a grocery sack full into the recycle. Catalogs, credit card offers, insurance offers, real estate and endless junk. And for some reason DH likes to save up grocery receipts but those go into recycle as well. I have been reluctant to go paperless on some things but may have to. However, one less credit card statement is hardly a drop in the bucket.

STudio buddy declined to come watch football today but will come Monday night. I don't care about the pros that much but it will be ok. Will catch up on her house building project.

Cheers. Diane S

I guess it's the Vikings on Monday night, but I'm not sure who they're playing. I inquired when they were playing so I could plan my Costco trip, but alas, Vikings are not playing on Sunday.

Yep they are playing our team the 49'ers. I will bet you one Twinkie that 49'ers win.
