This is the second day I am wearing long pants. The AC never had to be on yesterday or last night. What a change from a week ago!

I was reading The NY Times this morning and they had an article on birds dying after crashing into buildings with a lot of glass: NYTimesBirds. Thought CC might be interested.

DD, at least your conferences are done. Rest up the remainder of the week.

Today we need to have the car serviced and I need to send documents to gain ownership of an additional timeshare week in Aruba. It has been a long process: Verifying the previous owner, sending a check to her, having her sign the transfer papers, she sending them to her daughter (her co-owner) for a signature, the papers went to my daughter (my co-owner) for her signature, to me for my signature, finally today to Aruba with a check for the transfer fee and 2024 maintenance. Whew!

Not much else going on except starting to get ready for our Vermont trip this weekend (for the wedding). First and most important step for me is always the Packing/To-do list.

Have a tippy Tuesday!

A loaded friends morning! First my UK friend texted to ask if I would get reservations for her favorite restaurant when she and her husband are here on Nov 4. They are booked until Nov 28! So I tried a few other restaurants, also booked. I have notifications set up for cancellations and a request in to the local resort, but argh. I forget how much of a circus dinner reservations are around here.

Next, a new friend I haven't met up with yet, but met at the women's group texted to set up a hike. Funnily enough, she also goes to MI for the summer and just got back. We're going next week.

Then my neighbor asked me to have dinner with her and another neighbor on Thursday. I declined as I need to head to the airport early the next day and likely will be in a state of procrastination packing anxiety. But we did then go for a walk this morning.

Two of the dresses fit reasonably well, but I think when the tailor opens tomorrow, I will see if they can shorten one of the dresses. It hits below my knee which always makes my legs look big and my torso extra long. I think shortening it 1-2 inches (whatever they can get away with without needing to take the dress apart to preserve the kick-pleat) would help. The other is the right length, but a little wide through the middle. Makes it comfortable, but a bit sacklike. Anyway, at least I have something.

It's smoky this morning with two more prescription burns around me. This is what CA should do more of, but rarely does on this scale to prevent massive wildfires. Still stinky, though.

I think that's all I know. Take care all!

It is funny how a skirt being just a bit off in length can make so much difference. I hope your tailor can get it done for you quickly.

Chest with purchased cushion - it seems to fit in okay with everything else I think:

Liz, the chest looks so right there!

CC, I'm glad to hear some of the dresses will work. One thing you can take off the need to do list.

A nice surprise today. My Aunt and Uncle, who we traveled with, are in St. Paul for a last minute issue with my Aunt's brother. (He's really struggling with health issues). They called this morning to see if we were available for dinner tonight. Yes!

Tomorrow we have professional development, so no students. Almost feels like a day off. Then a 4 day weekend. Whew!

Peps, conferences are so short because gen ed teachers at high school have 150-200 students across their 5 periods. We have some classes with 42-45 students, it's crazy! It works out well for me, because I have much smaller classes, so I get decent breaks.

We have one more day of fall conferences next week. Then no more until spring, and spring conferences are usually just one night. Moving forward!

Greetings all

The word of the day is FOG. Loads of it about - especially when I was driving to Eureka for Scrabble. And it's still around - not burning off. I like the fog but it makes me sleepy. That plus the cheeseburger I just ate makes it time for a snooze.

So I won all my games today including the Shark! Makes me feel less senile. Of course there is a significant luck element in the game but it's mainly skill. After that a stop at the grocery. Why is it that my mind goes blank when I walk in a store and my memory only kicks in down the road.

Tesla seems listless and is not eating. I will make her some hamburger and rice. She barfed on the carpet the other night (dogs never barf on vinyl) so we shall see. And I am planning on getting Poppy spayed soon. No reason not to since we are done with puppies.

DD glad your conferences are done. That must be a total marathon. 45 kids in a class! Madness. Well good on you for pledging to work out. DH and I both feel better with using the treadmill even a little bit.

CC good that you have two dresses that work. Yowza, you really cant get a restaurant reservation in 3 weeks!? Must be big demand there. How far away is Scottsdale? I seem to remember the fancy Phoenician place there. In another lifetime I used to go to fancy places. Now it's a cheeseburger wrapped in paper.

Liz as usual your activities wear me out! Always lots going on. Oh well, I am as busy as I want to be which is not very.

Hmm I didn't think about bird****ting windows in big cities but I guess it happens. Speaking of birds, the big bear lake eagles appear to be working on their nest. So maybe eaglets next year.

Chicken and spinach planned for tonight.

Cheers. Diane S

Yes, the perils of a vacation town in one of the high seasons... Scottsdale is about 2 hours away, so not close!

So October is high season in Sedona? Florida doesn't hit high season until January/February.

Spring is the busiest, Fall is second, Winter is third with the exception of around Christmas, and Summer is the slowest.
