Peps

And that is exactly why I pick pups for my puppy people. As breeders we have a lot more knowledge about the pups. My favorite (eyes roll) is when someone says to me, "Oh look the "red" puppy (or whatever color collar the pup has) picked me! I must have the red one because he has chosen ME!" I then have to explain that the red puppy chooses every person that comes to visit because he is the most out going and is going to be the most difficult to train because he has NO FEAR and NO FILTER. Hopefully, your breeder will listen to the qualities all her buyers need in a pup and will help them "choose" accordingly. On one occasion I actually resorted to putting on a different color collar on a puppy for a family's child who just couldn't live without the red boy. (I did have the parent's permission to do that!)

I think that's how it should be done! All puppies are calm at some point and rambunctious at others. But a breeder who has lived with their puppies knows personalities and temperaments well.
