Rain showers again today. It just poured a few minutes ago and now the sun is out. Thank goodness for the glass sliders to shut down our lanai. Everything would have been soaked without them.
Yesterday we spent some time at the beach club for the first time since our return. Our tans are fading LOL.
Not much on the schedule for today other than some cleaning. The patio door tracks need a thorough scrubbing and silicone spray. Other light cleaning is needed in preparation for the visit of DD and her boyfriend on Friday and Saturday.
Time to take Justice out between showers. I think carrying an umbrella might ward them off! Have a wonder of WONDERS Wednesday!

Anyone buying a Powerball ticket today? I'm not a gambler, but it's fun to think about what you could do with that much money and who's lives you could change.
The house watcher is coming by to drop off my keys and the blinds lady is coming back today with a sample. I may not get those as they have discontinued my shade fabric and my whole house is the same one. Granted, they roll up and you can't see it unless they are in use, but it might be weird if they don't have something incredibly close and these are right next to existing ones.
I did learn they got the shades in the fall of 2019. So weird how it's not clear if my house was built in 2017 (as official records say) or 2019 (as the heat units are labeled and now the blinds). I think it's 2019, because I don't think you can occupy a house without working hvac.
Okay, my cousin's daughter's wedding is in 16 days. I never did use that as a reason to drop some weight, but maybe I can at least use these last two weeks to de-puff my carby face for pictures and to fit into something. Anything. Story of my life. When in 51 years have I EVER attended an event in something I liked wearing and I felt good about how I looked? Always dreading events because of my weight and appearance. Booooooo. Just once I would like my weight/clothes not to be my number one worry before an event. And why can I not channel that worry into better behaviors every day?
Anyway, that's all from me. I really enjoyed the movie, worth a watch!
I had the same feelings about what I was going to wear to my class reunion. And the same thoughts about the next 2 weeks before we attend our closest friend's daughters wedding on the same weekend (in 17 days). Sigh...
Greetings all
This day has not been fun. DH woke my up telling me that his Apple watch said he was having Afib. He has a medicine to take for that but he had not used it before. He took the pill but his heart rate was really high. We called his primary care and spoke to a nurse. She said he needed to be seen and since the doctor was out today it was off to the ER. Fortunately they were not busy at that time. While we were waiting to go back, he was sitting by me talking and then briefly passed out. Scary. The nurse saw it. He woke back up quickly. Odd. So they did a couple of EKG's and did bp standing up and lying down for comparison. His BP is kind of low but stable. Not sure whats going on here but he had just started the diuretics a couple of days ago and maybe they worked too well. Anyway after waiting around for several hours we were sent home with follow up instructions. I hope he gets sent to a cardiologist and not just the primary care. Primary guy is good but sometimes I think he tries to do too much. They must get on some kind of cosmic **** list if they refer to specialists too much.
So that was today's excitement. It was super foggy this morning but is sunny now. I was impressed with the ER and staff (had not been to this one before) and they seemed to have a lot of people. Just before we left a whole bunch of people gathered to care for an elderly man who had fallen on his face and had other bleeding.
Other than that, we are fine. House got cleaned while we were out.
Liz hope you get out and about. CC hope you find some good blinds. Exact matching is overrated. And yeah our house had a water heater that was a different age than the rest of the house. Who knows what the builder did.
And CC I hear you on the worry about what to wear to the wedding. And if you are like me you go to a store and hate everything you try on and those horrid mirrors they have that make you look wide and yellow. I suggest you just get something comfortable and try not to worry. We are our own worst critics. Stores would sell more clothes if they had mirrors that make you look thinner.
So I had a leftover half cheeseburger for lunch. Now I need a nap.
Not sure what to feed DH. Chicken in the freezer maybe. He is supposed to reduce salt for swollen legs but low BP?
Hey Peps, wanna come up here and strip my dogs? They sure need it. Tesla's coat is just screaming to be pulled. Maybe I will get after it.
Cheers all.
Diane S
So when my Mother was about 75 she got very swollen with fluid in her legs and even her intestines. She went to her primary complaining of digestive issues and he treated her for that but she didn't improve. When we went back and I told him she usually wasn't puffy and that she was short of breath he paid more attention to her heart. She was in afib causing a high heart rate and was in congestive heart failure. Finally he realized they had to slow her heart down and treat with diuretics. Her cardiologist discovered that she had a bad heart valve causing the afib. Could this be the start of something similar to what my mother took too long to see someone for? Definitely make sure DH sees a cardiologist.
Took a red eye to Pennsylvania last night. I LOVE that I can just fall asleep the minute the plane takes off. I remember NOTHING after just after takeoff until the announcement that we were starting a descent into Philadelphia. That is the way to take a transcontinental flight! I met up with my traveling companion at the airport, picked up the car, drove to Allentown, had breakfast, checked in to the hotel, had a nap and just finished a 3 hour national Airedale club board meeting. Best news that comes from the board meeting is that we are being charged $50 too much per night for our room, so we are going to get a nice price break! YAY!
Weather here seems unseasonably warm. It's over 80 degrees here today. But, it's fine by me. It's not humid like in the summer time.
Weight, eating, metabolism..... it is certainly a kerfuffle that deserves ongoing ponder! I figure that's why obesity/weight loss is a billion dollar industry. Everyone is always looking for the answer, so the "industry" has made sure that we have many "answer' options from which to choose.
Looking forward to a weekend of dog show fun.
Diane S., what a not great day! Your DH has a confusing set of symptoms, retaining water yet low blood pressure, AFib once in awhile, EKGs that look good and he can go home, momentary fainting... You are right, he needs to see a cardiologist at this point. Just to be sure.
Liz, good for you for getting some sun, vitamin D the natural way has to be better than pills. At least that's my story and I'm sticking to it.
Peps thanks for your input, I agree what I'm eating is not healthy. I could eat more, the Wegovy cuts my appetite a lot, but I could eat a few more little snacks. And I do have more on the weekends, because we're out to dinner etc. But then perhaps, no weight loss. I need to get back to my old lady workouts, then I could add a bit more food, tweak the metabolism, and maybe still loose ever so slowly...
CC, I'm glad you liked A Haunting in Venice. I thought it was a real treat. There were previews for several movies I hope to see. I think of this as grown up movie season, summer blockbusters are done, and more substantial, thought provoking movies are released.
Trying to find special occasion clothes when you're not feeling it. Ugh. Again though, we are so hard on ourselves. I work with people of all ages. The brand spanking new teachers of 15, 20 years ago are in their 40s now and they look different. Very few people age and keep their perfect body. Look around you at all the people you enjoy being with, and their lumps, and bumps ... We probably haven't even noticed the imperfections they are torturing themselves over. I think what I'm trying to say, is perfect, slim, toned bodies are not the norm.
The emergency broadcast testing had the kids all in a tizzy today. It hardly seemed like a big deal to me, but at 1pm they had so many questions. Would it be loud, if they turned off their phone would they still hear it, would they need to press something to make it stop, how long would it last, was it just national or international, wouldn't it be cool if we could all be in the lunchroom when it starts? ... They crack me up.
