Today my daughter Elise should have been turning 51. I always feel like she should be here and am so grateful that she was for her 32 years.
I did make that deconstructed pizza yesterday (in a casserole dish with no crust and very little cheese). As always it tasted great, was fairly easy to prepare, and made us feel like we were eating healthy. And we will get another meal out of it - win, win. Because I hate cooking so much I rarely make anything that won't yield at least one more night of leftovers. DH's specialty is grilling which sometimes generates an extra night. When he cooks chicken we make enough to put on a salad for a second meal. Speaking of which, DH plans to grill for the first time at our new place this week. He has to go down the stairs from our 3rd floor condo to do so and as he has told the story to friends, the distance he has to walk to it gets longer and longer...
The painting of the wood valance and mantle is done so I just need to wax and buff. It makes a big difference in the brightness of the room. Yesterday afternoon we looked for decorative pieces for the mantle and lanai. Didn't buy anything but got some ideas.
We may go to the beach this afternoon for a bit. It is supposed to be hot yet windy. But there is a major haze which possibly is from the Canadian wildfires. Really weird to have it travel this far.
Have a thoughtful Tuesday!
ETA: Per DD's suggestion here is the living room so far with swapped furniture and painted mantle and balance (top is current).

Looks great! I like the lightness you've brought to the room.
I've been having weirdly anxious sleep. Waking up and worrying about scorpions and whatever else runs through my mind. Last night I felt compelled to wander the house making sure there was nothing to worry about. Ugh. I wish I slept better here!
It's a beautiful day here. I might go to the movies late this afternoon to see A Haunting in Venice.
Hope you all are well!

I really enjoyed it! A good Halloween month movie. I love Agatha Christie stories too. Great cast, amazing atmospheric setting, good story! I wish more movies were like that these days. I feel left behind with a lot of the weird stuff and umpteenth Marvel flicks...
There was a trailer that looked good for The Holdovers with Paul Giamatti. Quirky in an almost Wes Anderson way.
Greetings all
The day started as a super foggy one while I drove to my friends for scrabble. I mean pea soup fog. But it disappeared and the sun is out and fine. I played "wonders" for 80 points at scrabble. Turns out it's not an acceptable word! I would have gotten a challenge at a tournament.
Great decorating Liz. Love the lighter look. We are thinking of you as you miss Elise.
CC scorpion nightmares! You are gonna have to find a way to make peace with the thought of them as they are not going away. Easy for me to say. Hoping your home projects continue to go well.
Pot pie tonight. And I did my walk as I have been doing regularly.
Brought home some home grown apples to give DH some non salt options. His legs are getting a little better but not fast enough for him. I think he thought he would take one water pill and he would quickly deflate. Not so. But at least it is something not to awful.
Liz thanks for the reminder of the un-pizza. I gotta remember to make it.
Stopped at the studio today and picked up quite a few newly fired pieces. I will take them to the gallery tomorrow and do other chores.
Cheers all. Time to feed the dogs. Diane S
