Another new week. It promises to have fewer storms and today is quite windy. Our walk may be less hot than on Saturday. We didn't even have one yesterday as it poured most of the day. I did get the mantle on the fireplace painted and a first coat done on a valance type structure also in the living room. Both were dark brown and will look better as a creamy white. Thank goodness the steroid injection is still working as the clicks and snaps my shoulder was making were quite noisy. I may make DH do the second coat on the valance.
Today there is a sprinkler inspection in the am after our walk. Then maybe painting. No specific other plans for the afternoon. I might make my deconstructed pizza tonight. Always a favorite and pretty healthy.
Have a magnificent Monday!

I looked up those weeds I was cutting the heads off of; they are called Camphorweed. (The gardener told me mustard, but it didn't smell like mustard plants, which I knew well from California) When I walked down the hall this morning to the garage to take the trash to the street, I could smell it through the firedoor and down the hall! That stuff stinks! Not surprisingly, like camphor...
A giant moth is laying eggs inside of one of my open windows on the screen. Argh. Impressively symmetrical egg placement, but I want her to fly away so I can scrape them off.
The blinds people are coming today to see about putting roller shades on a bank of slider/windows and another window that the previous owners didn't out shades on (pretty much every other window has them). The sun is so strong through them this time of year, it would be nice to be able to protect the furniture in that hallway.
Other than that, no plans. It's gorgeously cool out and sunny.
Take care!
My "reset" is in the final week of shots, calories under 700 and carbs under 20. I am realizing that my "all or nothing" style is not especially conducive to a healthy, retired life style. My days of "if you can't do it 110%, don't do it at all" are numbered. I think that's part of what was stressing me as a Guardian Ad Litem too. I have a drive to FIX and MAKE THINGS WHOLE. Additionally, I want it NOW. I intend to shift to a place where "do the best you can on any given day" & "leave it better than you found it" steer my life.
As a result of this reset, I am solidly back in my 139-144 target range. I also get dry heaves twice a day and don't have enough energy to walk a mile on the beach. I WAS consuming way too much sugar and too many simple carbs and that vicious cycle is gone. I will end the shots and SLOWLY build back my calories and complex carbs to a healthy level and maintain my target range where it is. I would never put myself through this again. My efforts will focus on building upon what I've got.

Liz, you'll have to post some pictures as you do more updates!
It is the third day in a row of 92 degrees. I'm not complaining, but it seems crazy. The average temp in October is 66. Even crazier, temps in the low 50s are predicted by the end of the week. A 40 degree swing. Its challenging to decide what to wear everyday with these seesaw temps.
My weight budged a little. Thank heavens. Because yesterday I had some tummy trouble. If that doesn't budge the scale, what will? I feel fine today.
I ordered the book Lessons in Chemistry. If it gets here soon, I will spend some time sitting with the last of the precious hot weather, reading on the porch.
Greetings all
It's sunny and lovely again but it's already October so we know whats next.
Took DH to the doctor today. Doctor thinks his swollen legs are due to inactivity and too much salt. Not likely cardiac and its the same both legs. So he has a diuretic prescription as well as potassium which I will pick up. It's going to be a real challenge to get rid of salt since he eats popcorn and other junk food all the time. Plus I know the prepared deli food we get is loaded with salt even though it's from the health food store. I have told DH he is going to have to pop his own popcorn and not salt it. He is also supposed to elevate his legs. Another thing for me to nag about. Our humorous doctor ended his lecture about avoiding salt by saying "give food a chance"... LOL
DD yikes 90 in Minnesota in October!! Well enjoy it while you can. Will be interested to hear your reports on the book.
CC Sedona sounds like Mutual of Omaha wild Kingdom! Never heard of such a moth. Did the bats go away?
Liz anything painted brown should be painted over. Don't overdo on your shoulder. Make DH help.
Ocean Diane congrats on your reset. Not an easy thing to do. And yeah, we all need to live by "do what I can" as opposed to "do an absolutely over the top astounding job on everything". It's ok to get a C sometimes. I thought of you today when I heard from one of the puppy owners who takes the pup (now 2) kayaking and paddle boarding. Sweet.
Picked up studio payroll today in addition to the other festivities.
So what sort of oil should I get for popcorn? All I keep is olive oil and popcorn needs something else. I know the seed oils are not so good but what else is there?
Cheers. Diane S
