Well we weren't home early last night after all. We really enjoyed the dinner dance last night chatting with people we know and meeting new people. Because it was moved to the clubhouse due to rain they had to reconfigure seating and we ended up at a table with people we didn't know. DH was put out at first but it worked out great. Everyone was super friendly and we really got along so well with one couple that we exchanged phone numbers so we can get together at some point. I have started a cheat sheet of names because I have always been so bad remembering them. LOL!
More rain today but that's okay as our plans are just laundry, food shopping, then afternoon football. It looks like the super humid, thunderstorm inducing weather will break after today. Which is good because DD and her boyfriend are flying here Friday for a 2 day visit. There is a new airline (Breeze) that flies right to Vero Beach which is terrific. We used to always have to use Orlando or West Palm which are both 90 minutes away. We are hoping to use Breeze when we fly home at Christmas.
Time to check the laundry. Have a super Sunday!
Not much going on here. I had a weird week dealing with some triggers which led to a carb fest on Thursday. Woke up cranky on Friday. Carb fest caused an inflammation reaction so my weight jumped up 3-4 pounds basically overnight. UGh.....
Have a client this morning and then need to really start thinking about packing and finishing up taxes, which are due on the 16th.
Not much else.....
Yesterday was super relaxing.
It was summer weather, so I did a little bit of gardening. I haven't done anything with my compost bin since we were traveling so much over the summer. I emptied yesterday, and it was such beautiful soil. I spread it on one flower bed, and I am still admiring it's rich, dark beauty.
I spent some time on the porch knitting. Now when I knit, its not like when Liz or CC knit. I knit lumpy wash clothes with wavy edges. But for me, it's the process, which I find so relaxing, rather than the product, (lumpy washcloth that's good for wiping down the counter).
Final relaxation, we had a bonfire. It had rained and rained, so it was safe again to have a little backyard fire in the fire ring. I was so relaxed, I started dozing a bit.
Today is even warmer than yesterday. The Twin Cities Marathon was cancelled this morning at 5am. Lots of hub bub online, local news etc. Very disappointing for a lot of people, but I have to admire someone making the tough decision to protect the rank and file runners. Elite runners would have completed the course before the temp grew too high (along with humidity), but the rest of the pack would still have hours to go.
While I was so relaxed, now I am feeling jittery and uneasy... I'm reading the paper on the porch, one of my favorite things, but stress keeps pushing it's way into my brain. DH is in the family room, watching the Vikings lose another game. Some days are just going to be like this I guess. I took my Wegovy shot yesterday, I don't know if that has anything to do with it...
Liz, trekking all the way to the Orlando Airport is time consuming, hope this new airline works out for you! My parents Florida house was an hour in the other direction, and figuring out how to get back and forth was a challenge sometimes. We live about 15-20 minutes from the Minneapolis airport and I love it!
Peps, sorry to hear you're feeling unsettled too. Maybe the full moon got us?
We usually rent a car one-way to get back and forth from airports. If we can use the airport here we could use an Uber on this end.
Greetings all
It's sunny and breezy and overall lovely. Even so, I see leaves starting to turn and the neighbors already have Halloween decorations up. There is a giant orange ball next door that I guess is a pumpkin. Seems rather pointless and unartistic.
So I stopped at the studio today and made some figures. Lots of people there and a class was going on. I think they are doing animal sculptures and some looked great.
DD only a true gardener could get excited about compost!! It is great stuff. I have not looked in our compost bin in about 5 years. Not sure I want to. But glad yours is cooking well.
Yeah funny how anxiety leads to a carb fest. Why is that? Did our ancient ancestors get frightened by mastodons and then go gorge on wheat? Regardless we all know it's true.
Liz the dinner sounds like fun. Nice new people are always a plus. And ditto the new airlines. We got Avelo here a year or two ago and they fly directly to Burbank. They are adding a flight to Las Vegas. Not that I would ever go there anytime soon but that new dome theater place looks pretty cool.
Pot pie for tonight.
DH wants me to go to the doctor apt tomorrow with him which I will. I think he is worried. I am glad to go because I want to hear what is said. I suspect he is going to get a diuretic and be told to watch salt which will be interesting as he eats popcorn all the time. We shall see.
We had a little earthquake Saturday which I felt and some little ones which we did not notice.
Cheers . Diane S
I saw that new Dome thing in Las Vegas on the news. Looks like a mind altering experience without the need for drugs! I'm also intrigued, but wonder t if it would be too much sensory input. Not that I'd be going anytime soon, I've reached the sweet age of 62 with only 2 Vegas trips. I know folks who go multiple times per year.
I will have to look up the dome. I enjoyed the 2 days we spend in Vegas in early 2022 for seeing the amazing structures, people watching, and enjoying a show. But I am not a gambler and it was all so fake. Nevertheless I would go back but only if it was easy to get to from some other destination.
