Rainy Friday. Is it wrong to be somewhat pleased that DH's golf game this afternoon will likely be canceled so we can travel together to dinner at SIL's?
New AC required at the Florida condo. I knew it since it was struggling when we were there a few weeks ago, but I hoped we'd have some more time. I feel like money is just draining out. I replaced the AC at the Cape in May just after we closed on the Florida condo. I have a signed contract to replace siding also at the Cape in the next few weeks. Now the AC in Florida.
But the arm is slightly better though I am really uncomfortable about taking anti-inflammatories long-term after reading about the potential interactions with my BP medications. Which is why I called the surgeon at Mass General on Wednesday for a consultation. Wouldn't you think I would get a call-back since I was forced to leave a detailed message (which I did)?
Rain means a somewhat lazy day which I don't mind. Yesterday was a bonus beach day as it was much nicer than expected. Hopefully the several books I have at the library on hold which are due to be available to me this week will pop so I can download them to my kindle. Time to fill-er-up (I can get 10 books at a time from the library).
Have a fulfilling Friday!
Home ownership! Its fun to spend money on aesthetic upgrades, but things like furnaces or A.C. not so much. But you gotta have them.
Hope you hear from the doctor soon Liz.
Yesterday was a full and very fun day. At the cemetery, we saw DHs great grandfather's grave. His Dad was named after him, and our son is named after him. I don't know if naming the son after the grandfather is a tradition that goes back further, but we really found it meaningful to name him after his DHs father. I did get a chance to go swimming in the afternoon, it felt heavenly on a 100 degree day.
Today we're going boating, but without the cousins. That turns out to be okay, we spent the whole day with them yesterday, and we'll spend the evening with them. One SIL and BIL are determined to go boating, so DH and his other brother have agreed to go.
My P.A. from my weight loss clinic agreed with me that I should continue on the .5 Wegovy since I am losing weight and having minimal side effects. She called my insurance company to advocate for this dosage. My insurance will not allow it, I have to go up to the next scheduled dose, which is 1.0. I hope it goes okay. I'll have to start it the same time I'm back with students. The higher the dose, naturally, the greater chance of side effects. I suspiciously think the insurance company insists on it so that people will drop out because they can't tolerate the gastro intestinal side effects. In my favor is the knowledge of how to treat a baby sleeve, it helps with this med too. And I am a fan of soft foods like yogurt, cottage cheese, soups ...
That seems odd that the insurance company requires that you go up in dosage when you don't need it. I guess as weird as Medicare having a law that weight loss drugs cannot be covered.
I did hear from the surgeons office - I have to get a referral from my orthopedist not for insurance purposes but so they have my diagnosis/prognosis from the orthopedist. Which I guess makes sense though everything seems to take such a long time. Not that this is an emergency, but I have a fear that after going through all these hoops I will have to wait quite a while for an appointment and I have already planned my Florida return for 9/25. I just want a consultation to see if it makes sense to plan for a shoulder replacement and if so figure out the best time to do it.
Greetings all
Another foggy day and I haven't gotten much done. I did get my hair washed and started in on this stupid US census survey about the studio business. Previous ones were not too bad but this one wants to know all this stuff about the 4 largest shareholders like ethnicity, education, previous businesses and about 15 other things. All pretty innocuous but a pain for me to gather. They also want to know the extent to which we have created new products or services that are innovative or carbon neutral. Answer: none. Waste of government money. And of course I have already had to call their help line. At least there was a real person to talk to after the massive phone tree.
C hoping you get on the puppy list for whenever you are ready. Two of our pups went directly to the airport and on to planes inside the cabin and did fine. Something fun to look forward to.
Liz too bad about the AC. Not fun to spend $$ on stuff like that. Better on trips and restaurants and art. And I am with you on getting on a surgeons list. There is no express service. You might well know you need a specialist but they want a referral. Dumb.
And speaking of medical dumb, whats with your insurance DD on the wegovy? Makes no sense but much of the world makes no sense. Glad you got some swimming time. And cemeteries can be very interesting in addition to meaningful. Years ago I was poking around a cemetery and noticed a stone with a name and dates. In the lower right corner of the stone there was an entry chiseled in at an obviously later time. It said "forgiven". Always wondered what that was about. Enjoy Missouri. Biscuits and gravy with every meal!!
Congrats Peps on the big win. May there be more.
For some reason I am very hungry today. Just ate cottage cheese and already want more food. I think when I get stressed/pissed off i get hungry or think I am. Very aggravated about this survey which forced me to dig through boxes of quickly packed papers which makes me even more grumpy. Oh well, at least DH brought home Chinese food so dinner is done.
