Today is the Falmouth Road Race in our town, a historic 7 mile race along the ocean from Woods Hole (the southern tip of Falmouth) to Falmouth Heights (the area where we usually go to the beach). The course covers a lot of my favorite scenic roads. A friend of mine used to have a home on the course just before the finish line and we would go there every year to watch. Any family/friends of the people at the house would come back there after the race for a pot-luck lunch. I miss that but after her husband died, my friend only kept the house for a few years then decided it had too many memories she didn't want to live with and was too expensive. I haven'****ched the road race since.
We arrived home at 6 last night. Long drive, especially for DH, since I couldn't do any of the driving with a sling on. Like the other day I wore it, my arm felt fine at the end of the day but after sleeping (or not as I was awake a lot of the night) it is rather sore again. I am wearing a shoulder heating pad this morning but will probably skip the sling today unless it gets worse later.
We did stop for lunch in Burlington VT but didn't stick around as it was drizzly and cool out.
Today is mostly just doing laundry and giving Justice a good walk as it is nice out. We will just have to avoid the road race area. Possibly we will sit on a beach at some point too.
Have a sunny Sunday!

So far my friends in southern CA say it's just been some rain and no wind. Hopefully it stays that way. Sedona is expecting 2-3" today.
I skipped out on peer pressure pancakes and bacon today. Small victory. I went to the grocery store to get stuff for a salad I need to make for tonight's neighbor get together. Alas the ToM monster strikes again, like it has some radar to know when it's the worst time. Ugh. Menopause, whenever you're ready....
Warm and humid today here. I think I need a nap!
Hope you all are well. Take care!
Menopause was a relief for me other than the hot flashes but mine were much worse than most have to deal with.
Greetings all
It overcast today but we are not getting any of the southern ca stuff. Looks horrible there. Glad my brother is out of palm springs. But he is in Hollywood so that might not be much better though he is on a hill. And they just had an earthquake. Jeez.
Not much going on here. Still putting stuff away and the good news is that the shelves are not full. Must be because of the books I got rid of. Still finding old papers and pictures. It's all good except for the 20 years worth of dust I am kicking up.
CC day I realized I was in menopause was the happiest day of my life. There were a few rough spots in the process but I never took hormones as I did not have hot flashes to speak of. I am very glad that time of my life is past. So bring it on.
Liz that race sounds fun - to watch - not to participate. Sorry you won't see it. Heated shoulder sounds good.
I seem to have an issue of getting hungry at 3 or 4 in the pm. I grab stuff that takes no preparation like crackers and humus. Not the best choice. I am going to have to come up with a better game plan. Cottage cheese, greek yogurt or single serving tuna packets are on the list. Guess a small apple with peanut butter might be good. Any ideas?
We have been binge watching "Suits", a ridiculous lawyer show but fun. But the writers strike is going to impact our entertainment I fear.
Still singing praises to my remodeled shower. Grab bars rule.

One of my go tos for pm snack is cottage cheese with a snack cup of diced peaches (I buy them at Costco). The peaches are in syrup, which I normally don't do, but the whole snack cup is only 50 calories. Lots of flavor, sometimes I add cinnamon. The cottage cheese is a nice hit of protein. I would imagine in California, where you can get fresh peaches, that would be heavenly. But the deal with the cup is calorie controlled, no prep besides ripping the little cover off, and good protein.
I haven'****ched the news yet today, so I don't know much about this storm. Sounded grim for some locations. It looked like the rain could hit Reno, hope all is well with Peps while he travels. Crazy to think Palm Springs could be affected by a tropical storm. Glad to hear your brother is someplace a bit safer Diane.
Today was a lazy day. I read the paper, then started a new book, The Four Winds, about the great depression and dust bowls. We had BLTs with farmers market tomatoes, so very good!
I texted with one of my work friends today. Seeing them again will be the bright spot of returning to work. Besides that, it feels like going to the dentist, something I don't want to, but know I must. I also know that it all is so much more bearable when I am actually with students.
