Yesterday turned out to be a decent day in Montreal after all. The weather forecasts are so deceiving sometimes. Right now it is supposed to be cloudy but the sun is out.

We had charcuterie for lunch at a rooftop cafe and we went to a little bistro with a jazz group for dinner. The food wasn't terrific but the atmosphere and music were just right.

The shoulder was better yesterday because I used a sling all day. It helped the arm but is so awkward since that is my dominant side. I didn't wear it to bed last night so it is very painful this morning. The conversation with the orthopedist on Monday should be interesting. I have started to think about what events I wouldn't mind attending while wearing a sling following surgery. So weird that less than a year ago I was playing bocce, going to yoga, and doing water aerobics. The thought of doing any of those makes my shoulder hurt.

Today we are going to drive 2 hours to Burlington VT, poke around and probably have lunch there. Then we will drive the remaining 5 hours back to Cape Cod. We are ready to go home at this point.

Have a safe Saturday!

Lazy days of summer here. It's supposed to warm up this weekend (into the mid-70s - ha). I have backed out of a party tonight. I don't mind get togethers when I know and like the people or if it's at my house and I have something to do like cook, but when they aren't my favorite people, I'd rather have teeth removed. The couple hosting are nice enough, but the girlfriend drinks too much then gets very loud and the guy talks over people and loves to hear himself. Blech. Tomorrow we are having dinner with the neighbors, and that's enough weekend socializing for me.

Food and exercise have been dreadful. Not sure how to break my mental block...

Anyway, hope you all are having a good end of August!

That definitely sounds like a party best missed!

I would be happy not to attend also. DH might though, he is the definition of a middle child who watches drama and interactions and then discreetly stirs the pot. When I realize what he's up to, it is often entertaining, but I could never be detached enough myself. I promise he only uses his Machiavellian powers on people who richly deserve it.

Good Morning All

Im up early and enjoying the peace. Sipping a cup of tea and enjoying being still.

I got through my final day at work. The director shouted us lunch & went to a very exclusive bakery to get my a box of cakes. I have shared them over the weekend with family. I feel relieved that Ive stepped off the rollercoaster and have been exhausted. I dont think you truely realise how much stress you are internalising.

Spent yesterday getting organised to go away. Eldest DS isnt great with being organised. Started helping him pack & none of his shorts or swim gear fitted! So I had to go get more for him. Did mums groceries, dogs have been washed. I showered mum and washed her hair. Then DH and I came home to wash & pack. Needless to say I fell asleep on the couch a little after 9pm.

Today we are going to mums to change her dressing then taking her to brunch, from there we will drive into the city. Have tickets to Moulin Rouge which I know she will love. Youngest DH & his partner are coming to stay once we are home. It will be takeaway dinner & an early night as we have to get up at 2am for our flight to Cairns. Thus time tommorrow we will be on the way. Im so looking forward to spending quality time with my kids.

Liz- sorry your shoulder is so painful. I hope Mondays appointment goes well.

CC - Good for you for not going to that dinner. Couldnt think of anything worse!

Peps- Thinking of you lots

Hello to all that follow. I had best get my butt into gear.

Yeah, glad you are now free to move on. Have you seen Moulin Rouge before? It's a romp for sure, non stop in every way!

Yes we have. John booked front row seats when it first was in Melbourne several years ago. I loved it- hoping mum does too

Greetings all

Some sun and fog today. I have been worried about the hurricane bringing record rains to Palm Springs because my brother was headed there yesterday to his house. We talked and he left to go back to LA at noon or so. Whew. The reports say it's going to be terrible there and I am glad he is out of there. He had just been up to Mayo clinic to see about his rare disease. They are still testing and analyzing.

Liz glad you got to do some Montreal after all. I think you should get some dressy looking slings so you won't be tempted to skip it on social stuff. Hope the doctor has some help for you.

Yep CC I'm with you. I would rather stay home alone than socialize with boorish people. No need to endure an unpleasant event.

I want to go see the movie "Strays". The star is a border terrier like my dogs so I am eager to see it. One puppy owner says it's adult but good.

DD is your neighbor the same one who cut your grape vines? I am betting it is. Years ago I might have said plant stickers stuff but why bother. Life is short.

Peps hope you win today.

Not sure whats for dinner tonight. I had a bit of gut upset so I don't think it will be tacos.

Cheers all. Diane S
