We are in rainy Albany. Tomorrow looks like it will be rainy again for our third year in a row at the Saratoga horse track. Originally it was supposed to be sunny :(
We had a nice dinner out with DH's eldest DD last night. Her children were away with their Dad (her ex), so she could talk freely of the trials of having a 15 year old son testing boundaries (and a 12 year old daughter who will get there soon). Cool that they have phones which disclose their location to their parents these days so at least she knows where they are when they aren't where they said they'd be and are late... She says they know that if they turn the location sharing off they lose the phone so for now she has that "power". Tough time/age though.
I could barely eat what I had last night and yes there was peer pressure to order a full entree which I hardly touched after having a piece of a substantial appetizer and some salad. But DH's DD took what I didn't have for leftovers this week so at least they weren't wasted. I did lose about 5 pounds a few weeks ago but that seems to be it for now. I guess I have to reduce the eating a bit more to lose more. Sigh - I am trying to avoid "dieting" but when one is only 5'3", one can't ingest many calories and still lose weight.
This morning we are being lazy in the hotel room, but will leave by noon to have lunch at a NY deli, then visit some friends of DH's this afternoon. Onto Lake Gorge to check-in to our hotel there, then to Saratoga for dinner.
Have a tippy Tuesday!
Today my DS turns 28. Ah yes, the teenage years. Neither of my kids were big rule breakers, but my son really struggled in middle school. It was rough, and I'm still haunted by what I might have done differently to help him. It's beyond wonderful to see him grown up, confident, competent, and with a solid group of friends.
I'm not really scheduling anything for the next few days. Traveling this summer has been a great adventure, but I also like unstructured time to putz around. This week I'll do that. I did get to the grocery store for a few things yesterday.
This morning I weighed what I did the morning I left for Mexico. Wegovy assist. I'm hoping to see that number go down this fall.
Hard morning. Slept okay, but not enough and was awake far too early.
Have a call in for Keira. Hopefully, they will be able to accommodate her today. She is actively dying and while very stoic, I believe she is highly uncomfortable. I did some reading about renal failure in dogs and there can be pain involved - chest, bone and deep muscle. She was unable to keep down one of her favorite treats - plain pizza crust - last night. She hadn't had any food in well over 36 hours until this morning. She did eat a little chicken this morning. I know it is her time. I am very sad.
Lots of food at school to placate the stress of teacher preparations for the first day of school tomorrow. Today was a Chipotle Bowl Bar. All the fixings for a Burrito in a Bowl. Of course, mini (& decadent) cupcakes for dessert. I ate it all.... Given my emotional state, I'm okay with my choices.
Not much else.
Edit to add: Keira has an appointment at 5 pm.
Popping in quickly...... My last Wednesday is nearly half over - yay
I popped out and did some corporate clothes shopping. Early lunch & I have basically rarely taken a break in my 2 years here. Happy with what I got. Just need some more shoes but will sort that when Im back from Cairns.
Youngest DS is sick and Im hoping can shake the bug before we fly on Monday. I dropped over some VitC last night. Hoping rest will help him heal fast. I have a slight sore throat too so Im dosing up on VitC too
Pet Sitter comes over late afternoon again. Need to get all the instructions sorted- not that there is much. Will be nice to have piece of mind that they are ok
Mums healing ok- will take a while. Shes at the Drs getting her dressing changed now.
I had best run. Have a huge to do list. Its going to be a big few days
Take care all
