Friday and Saturday were both what I call perfect Cape days: Sunny, warm, breezy and not too humid. Today it is rainy and muggy. The perfect days stand out because they are smaller in number than hot humid or rainy days. Today we need to pack up for a week away and clean the house. DH's daughters and friends will be here while we are gone.

I made an appointment to see the orthopedist the day we get back. Though he may want to keep trying repeat cortisone injections he might start talking more seriously about shoulder replacement. After my prior appointment I have accepted the fact that it is probably inevitable. The problem is that I will be non-functional for 4-6 weeks following it so finding a good time to do it is difficult. Next year I need to get my Cape house on the market which means cleaning out excess junk, then packing and moving. I obviously can't be recovering from shoulder surgery during this but unless I can get pain relief a lot of the work will be extremely difficult for me to do. As DH says, getting old is harder than we expected.

Hopefully the rain will stop by mid-day so Justice can get his long walk. Right now he is happy lounging in my lap. Have a super Sunday!

I sat out on the deck last night with a blanke****ching the Perseid meteor shower. Very cool! Lots of streaking white "shooting stars". Cloudier today with rain coming tomorrow, so not sure the conditions will be as good here tonight to see them again.

Had our pancakes and bacon this morning as usual on a Sunday. It's tasty, but I know it's not what I need to be eating. Peer pressure eating is a real thing.

It's feeling more fall like this week here. The sun angle and therefore the light is changing, it's more crisp, rain coming... but I did see temps in the 80s in the 10 day forecast, so summer isn't gone yet!

Liz, I wonder if your shoulder is a just get it over with thing. There will always be events and reasons not to and never a "good" time, but life after you get it done and go through the requisite healing period will be vastly improved.

Anyway, hope you all have a good day!

I more or less agree with your recommendation unless the orthopedist wants to wait another year or so to determine whether the cortisone injections can help for a while longer. DH and I were thinking that around Christmas might be best. I have actually been trying to determine what I can do with only my left arm. Some of it may take practice as I have always been extremely right-handed. I can actually do a lot except bra fastening, some clothing fastening (may dictate what I wear LOL), eyeliner, and any refined hair drying. But I guess I could mostly function (especially with help). Poor DH!

I agree with peer pressure on eating! Eating smaller portions is doable but the content of the meal may not be controllable at times.

Good morning! Off to the airport. CC I'm hoping to see the meteor showers. DS was born August 15, I like to think he came through to this life amidst falling stars.

Liz, it is difficult to find a time to be out of commission. Sometimes life chooses for you. I know if and when you have the surgery your outcome will be the best possible because of your discipline and get it done attitude.

Diane, DH should absolutely be in charge of dinner the days you are at the studio! Although this policy at our house has led to lots of frozen pizza, I'm still a fan :)

Peer Pressure Eating.... We should just call it PPE (LOL reminds me of Covid and masks...) because it is such a prevalent thing among people who struggle with eating.

Liz, there is never a good time to have surgery (or get a puppy). I love the idea of having a surgery around the Christmas holiday. You can get whatever it is you need to do done right after Thanksgiving and then relax and heal over Christmas and New Year. I sent at text to a friend who's girlfriend/common law wife (they've been together for 40 unwed years!) had shoulder replacement done last year asking how long it really took to recover. I will let you know what I hear back.

I cancelled all my client grooming for this weekend. I just couldn't manage other people's dogs when I'm having trouble motivating myself just to get my own dogs trimmed that absolutely must be trimmed with deadlines fast approaching. I have pretty much frittered away my morning with not much activity.... Got the dogs fed. Keira is requiring hand feeding and is only eating meat. I tried adding a little canned puppy food, which is known here as "puppy crack", but she turned her nose up at it. I picked out the clean chicken and she ate that. I can tell we are coming down to the wire with her. Makes me sad, but it is part of the natural order of things. She is almost 14.5 years old, after all, and that is truly ancient for an Airedale.

Weight is finally beginning to drop back down. Shee****'s taking a while. But, I have not been all that stellar the past week in my food choices. After the up tick I went a little too carb heavy and that always spikes the water retention, too. Vicious, vicious cycle.

Tomorrow will be my first real day back for the school year. UGH.... 30 down, 2 to go! I totally got this! LOL! I don't know why I'm even entertaining negativity. My job is absolutely delightful in comparison to being a regular classroom teacher.

Happy MONDAY SHIRL! New job yet?????

Greetings all

Sunny today as yesterday was until the fog rolled in late afternoon. So much for the meteor shower though I had forgotten about it.

Spent today putting books back in the shelves after the floor experience. I did not get that far but its a start. I found some interesting old pictures and things that I will send to my niece. Pictures of her dad when he was about the age of her son now. They look so much alike.

Liz I can't imagine getting a house ready with a bad shoulder. No fun. I say take all the cortisone you can get. Dr. will probably make you go through a routine of so many shots etc before surgery. I agree with Peps. Get surgery close to Christmas and then rest on your laurels for the holidays. Sometimes you just have to do it. But glad there are some nice days there now.

Yeah CC. peer pressure eating is a thing. Jewish mothers aside, it's everywhere. At least at restaurants you can order healthy sometimes but pancakes are the mother lode of carbs. I have heard that the protein pancake mix is pretty good though. I have forgotten the name of that stuff. Glad you saw meteors.

Peps sorry your old dog is fading. Yep feed chicken and spoil her.

And yay for having two years to go until retirement. Well earned.

DD hope you got some meteor viewing in as well. Guess you are prepping for school so best wishes.

Yoo Hoo Shirley!!

Not much else. Kiln opens tomorrow and so trip to gallery warranted. Our summer has been excellent thus far.

Not much else. We will have the rest of the tuna salad wrap tonight. Fine with me. Routine starts again tomorrow of investigating the deli for suitable dinner items. I am hoping to find salmon or a pot pie.

Found an old high school year book while reshelving stuff. Funny. Also some notes from people I don't remember. Someone wrote that my hair was a fine dust mop but pretty. geez.

The description of your hair begs for a picture...
