Where was everyone yesterday? Just Diane S and I holding down the fort.

No win for us in mega millions except for $10. Sigh...

Yesterday's dinner at my home with DS, SIL, and DH was very enjoyable. I think DS misses us but we do like being alone. I ate too much though. Not so much meat and the grilled veggies were healthy, but the mashed potatoes were wonderful (and not so healthy).

Today a friend of DH's arrives for 2 days. Very nice guy, so it should be a good visit. DH is busy planning activities and meals. Might be lobster tonight. Yum!

Time to get our Justice walk in. Have a worry-free Wednesday!

One person in FL won. How surreal must that feel?

My new deck furniture came. Looks pretty! We had dinner out there last night. Happy to now seat 6 as before we had to haul out a folding table to do so outside.

Humid today. It would be nice if it meant rain, but no. Just doing laundry today, need to take the recycling to town, working on a puzzle. I might try to get some sun on the backs of my legs. I look like the top half of a hamburger bun - brown on one side, pasty white on the other.

I got a bunch of fabric samples from the decorator and, gulp, price list. Must go through that this week too.

Food hasn't been terrific. Probably why my interest in posting has waned. Ostrich mode. argh.

Anyway, hope you all have a great day!

It gets more and more difficult to get sun on the back - just too darn uncomfortable!

I had my first planning meeting of the school year yesterday, followed by a back to school hair cut (which is super duper short!), got home and sat down for 30 minutes and then Buster and I were off to a handling class. Got home around 9:30.

Overall, I am pleased with my schedule for the upcoming year. Each week will start with a heavy class load and will gradually ease up as the week goes on. I like that - get the busy days over with at the beginning of the week and have the "easy' days at the end when I can work on prep for the following week. All of my preps were put on Thursday so I have a 2 hour block of prep time Thursday afternoons. Can't ask for better than that!

All the sitting, a working lunch at a Thai restaurant and then fast food for dinner resulted in a 3 pound up tick in weight this morning. Oh well.... easy come, and easy go! It'll come off in a few days.

Lulu's finicky eating is worrisome for my BFF with whom Lulu now lives. It is stressing him out. I'm willing to take her back at any time, but I think secretly he enjoys having something to worry about and grousing. I just find the phone calls a bit annoying and stressful.

Trying to enjoy my last few days of "freedom" prior to returning to the ball and chain of teaching Monday.

The summer goes so fast particularly when school is involved!

PS - another summer has passed without the garage getting a thorough purge and organization. The HOARDERS LIVE ON!

Yeah I had thoughts of going through DH's linen closet - also the one at my house and starting to purge in the basement there. Hasn't happened so far.

Greetings all

Sunny and breezy here. I spent some time in the studio and it was almost warm there due to south windows. But not quite. Got some glazing done and various chores. No interesting gossip though.

Grilled veggies sounds good. Gonna think on that. However we have no grill. I love grilled food but have never been interested in acquiring a grill. As a kid it always seemed like way more work than just cooking in a kitchen. But I will gleefully eat what someone else grills.

Peps and DD GL on the approaching new school year. I think most people don't have a clue on what goes in to planning and prep.

And GL on the tanning CC and on the other home improvement tasks.

Whew I am out of energy today. Feel like napping. Did nothing to deserve it. My exercise was watching the housekeeper clean the house. The new floor is making more work for her since in needs to be both vacuumed and then damp mopped, unlike carpet. Its ok. She approves of our floor choice.

The fire on Maui is heartbreaking. Lahaina is gone. We honeymooned there a billion years ago.

Lobster Liz! Yay!

A tid bit of health news: My doctor told me that regularity of exercise is far more important than duration or intensity. (maybe this is just for old people)

I totally agree with your doctor's statement. My grandmother lived to almost 101 and she walked daily until perhaps the last couple of years. I always felt that one of the most important things to do health-wise was to emulate that practice. Conversely the people who seem to be unhealthy before their time are people who never go anywhere or do anything. Both DH and I have BILs like this, one in his 60's and one in his 70's. They spend all day every day planted on their rear-ends watching TV or playing on the computer. Both look and act way older than they are.
