Jus****ching the dolphins outside. So cool! They seem really small so DS (who loves to read about and watch nature shows) thinks that the mother dolphins bring the babies into our protected Marina to fish while they stay just outside in the more dangerous intracoastal waterway.

Today brings one more rearrangement of furniture along with a bunch of errands. We may poke around some local art galleries to find something for above the mantle. We took one picture from a department store to try out but it is blah so we are returning it today. Probably depends on how hot it is as to how long we sustain our poking. An alternative option is the beach for a couple of hours to sit under the umbrella and enjoy a seabreeze.

Justice seems to be settling in and enjoying the extreme warmth (he is a Florida dog after all). He has been good about not barking at people walking along the marina or in the lanai kitty corner to ours. We had been afraid he would define those areas as his property and do his usual warning barking accordingly.

I have been trying to keep to my small portions and not snack much. I think I actually lost about 5 pounds over the last couple of weeks. Water weight but I will take it. I shouldn't care about dropping weight specifically for my class reunion at the end of September but I do think my HBP would improve if I do, so I am using that as an incentive.

DH's son just determined his next posting. Starting in 10 months he will be based in Europe for 3 years. He has been spending a LOT of time with a young woman lately who he was previously friends with for several years. We wonder what will happen with that relationship. But we may be making at least one trip to Europe in a couple of years.

Time to get our walk in before it is too hot. Have a thriving Thursday!

Nice day yesterday with a walk and a boat ride and dinner out, but I noticed a bad chemical smell when we were leaving (I have a super sensitive smeller and the rest of my family seems to be hard of smelling). When we came back from dinner it was nauseatingly strong to all and phone calls were coming from people we know all over the area asking about the diesel smell. Turns out a freighter in Lake Michigan off the coast of us was leaking diesel and left a 1.6 mile long slick before it was noticed. The coast guard and NOAA got on it to quickly, but the stench was horrendous as the winds were blowing over it and onto us. Headaches, nausea and coughing were the order of the rest of the evening. I worry about the lake and its inhabitants.

Nothing else to report except my cousin forgot his passport so he needs to stay an extra day to wait for a friend to FedEx here. We're excited to get an extra day with him.

Where has the day gone!? Off to get lunch!

Good Morning All

I dont think I have ever been as thankful to know its Friday. This has been a very challenging week to say the least. Im truely exhausted!

I brought mum home from hospital yesterday. Poor thing had 2 hours broken sleep so was super tired. I stayed with her last night- she fell asleep in her chair at 8pm. I let her snooze while I got her washing all up to date then got her tucked in bed.She had a good sleep which will help her heal.

As I get older I am listening to my instincts more & more- sad to say my concerns about my directors reaction to my resignation have proved very warranted.

I had best get back to work. Head held high - comfort from knowing I will be moving onto better things after 28th August

Take care all

I'm so sorry that had to turn ugly after all your hard work there. He's panicking to be losing such a good employee who holds everything together and that panic is being directed at you in unpleasant ways it sounds like, but actually has nothing to do with you!

I am glad your Mum is home. Good that you're leaving this job with a director who would react that way. Life is too short to work with people like that.

Hi everyone! Trips to Europe sound great Liz!

CC that diesel spill is so sad. I hope it was contained quickly.

We got to Mexico fine. DH was really mad though, because as we scanned our boarding passes, they handed him a slip of paper. Half way down the ramp, he figures out they reassigned his seat on a completely full flight. It seems they were seating a husband and wife together, so they moved him, thus separating us after we had carefully booked the seats several months ago. Anyhow, I still had the aisle seat, so I traded with the woman who was in the middle seat by DH. Problem solved.

Today we went to a charming town by BFFs house. It is just outside the Mexico City metro area. It's a real gift to be able to see parts of Mexico that aren't heavily touristed. There are so many exceptional colonial cities in the interior of the country. It was a very nice day.

Tomorrow we pick DS up at the airport, and then are going to the Historic Center of Mexico City proper. Always a magical place, where there is a Cathedral that from 1573, built on top of ancient pyramids , that are carefully being excavated to not damage the Colonial buildings.

My sleeve is often very functional in Mexico. I think it's all the less processed, whole foods. A corn tortilla here fills me up faster than a more processed one at home. Something to keep in mind when I return to my "normal" life.

The food effect is quite interesting. Enjoy Mexico. I haven seen any of it other than resort spots. Lucky you to view the less touristy areas.

Greetings

quick late check in. Floors are done and they are great. The guys moved the furniture back this morning. Two young guys who were a comedy team. Later the plumber came to put the toilet and laundry back in order. Dh loves to follow tradesmen around so much he almost gets in the day. He has his guy lunch tomorrow so he gets out of the house.

so my desk is back together and I will be back to keyboard tomorrow. Had to follow up on some other business so it's not quite there.

liz I love that you have dolphin nursery. Beach all day!

shirl glad your mom is home and healing.

cc yuck on the fuel spill. Awful smell. Not cool.

scrambled eggs tonight. Store trip needed.

cheers. Diane s
