When I start the thread at 9:30 am PDT I always hope that nothing is amiss with the east coast peeps! So, Liz, I hope you are joyfully distracted today!
Oppenheimer was intense, but not haunting. It could have been quite a dry and boring story told in a different voice, but I think the way it was filmed and put together by the editor and director was very artistic and made Oppenheimer seem sympathetic. Clearly the man had a brilliant mind.
Weight is back down to my low after a little upswing after working out the other day. I have decided that I would seriously like to get into that next decade, so I am going to have to make a few more changes. We'll see how that goes. The main change I need to make is eliminate some of the nibbling I do. They aren't even snacks really. I will grab a few crackers and down those and then an hour later do the same. Those nibbles add up to needless processed carbs, which for me only make a subtle impact on inflammation, but those types of carbs do cause me blood sugar spikes and plunges - not good. A plunge always results in wanting more carbs. It is a vicious cycle. The second thing I must do is increase my water intake. It's just too low. I drink on average only 24-32 oz of water per day. Workout days a little more. Yesterday, hardly any....
I was pleased with my Procrastination Self yesterday. Once I got off my arse I was pretty productive. I got the master bath cleaned from ceiling to floor, vacuumed the master bedroom, moved the bed to get the dust bunnies that threatened to create creature habitats, moved all the dog crates to clean the floor and wall behind them, dusted the crates off, then washed all the baseboards and walls of doggie dirt. Entry way is cleaned and kitchen floor got done, too. This afternoon I plan on tackling more of the office junk (but only mine. I refuse to deal with Ron's clutter). Wish me luck on the office. It's one of the areas I keep "stuff".
Wishing a magical Monday to all that follow.
I'm here! I was dealing with a broken thermostat this morning among other things. I had previously purchased a new wi-fi enabled thermostat but hadn't installed it yet. The old one was getting more and more difficult to adjust the temperature on and this morning it just decided to keep the AC running endlessly. So installation of the new one was required pronto. Luckily it was very simple to accomplish. I also had to arrange for someone to come Wednesday to replace the old TV on the wall with the newer one we had brought but weren't using. The old one won't change input sources or volume. Good to get these things done now anyway. The other thing we did was pick up a picture to try over the mantle and go food shopping for condiments and some food to make this week.
Yesterday it was scorchingly hot but luckily there was a breeze at the ocean. So as long as we stayed under the umbrella it was bearable.
Did I tell you that it appears that we have little baby dolphins feeding in the Marina in front of the condo? Usually they are a lot bigger than these little guys gliding around.
Time to do my shoulder exercises. I had missed a couple of days so I am trying to get back on the bandwagon again. Have a marvelous Monday!
Not the joyful morning I had hoped you were having, but I'm glad you got those things done. It's nice getting those types of chores accomplished.
As for eating at home.... I bet you would lose weight just by doing that. Restaurant food is usually quite high in sodium and unhealthy fats. I know when I cook at home my weight comes down far more easily. Would Mike be okay with not going out as often? It seems he really likes eating out.
We BOTH like eating out - too lazy to cook and it is kind of an "event". But yes, we should make an effort to cook and eat at home a lot more.
Hello all ! I'll post a picture of my "balcony evening" view last night, on FB. We swam first, so it was a cool and relaxing pot luck with super friends. After donating most of my professional clothes, my first court date is 08/30/23, so I'm working on layered "court clothes" for hot weather and cold AC. I also need some comfy closed toe shoes, as apparently judges down here don't like to see toes! Who knew !? I tested negative for H Pylori, but my gut is still off, making me want pretzels and crackers. I'll work through it ! Has anyone heard from Shirl ?

Peps sounds like you got so much done. I am not good at deep cleaning. I really should hire a housekeeping service, but they are so pricey here.
DH and went out for brunch (we haven't really stocked up on food either, since we're leaving on Wednesday), did some banking, more laundry. Now he's returning some Amazon packages DD accidentally shipped here when she meant to have them delivered to her home in Boston.
I sent an email to my new boss (Special Ed Director, I have a lot of bosses) at the end of school in June outlining some barriers to a new, monumental task we are now assigned. I did it as my role of Department Chair, with the hopes that some guidance would be provided how to accomplish this task when school begins. This week, he sends me an email he wants to meet with me. I'm not able to. I resent this intrusion into my summer, I'm not the department chair any longer... So now I am going to have to set up a meeting during the precious workshop week time. And so it begins...
My Aussie sister is on her way to visit my parents. (She lives in Utah) She will spend tomorrow night at our house, bring us to the airport Wednesday, and then drive onto my parent's house. So excited to see her, I was worried our paths wouldn't cross at all this trip. But then she's coming back in September, to bring her son and his family, who will be traveling from Australia. So also very excited to see my Aussie nephew, his wife and his little boy soon.
Greetings from floor central. Most of the great room is done and it looks great. Poppy seems afraid of the new floor. I guess it no longer smells like dog pee.
this crew is very good but boy are they noisy! They wear ear protection and shout at each other over the pounding.
stay safe and cool all. More when I have a keyboard.
