Happy Birthday DD!!!!! Enjoy your day! I hope Shirl's current boss was accepting of her resignation. And Diane S: Great progress on getting ready for floors!
Barbie was totally different than expected and so much fun! The entire theatre laughed through the whole thing. Ryan Gosling looked like he was having a hard time being serious in some of the scenes too. Worth seeing at least for females!
Today I have a cardiologist appointment and packing. We don't have to leave for the airport in the morning until around 8 so at least it will be a manageable day.
Have a thought provoking Thursday!
Yes, 8am is much better than 5am! Hope all appointments go well.
The Barbie movie surprised me. It had more heart than I expected, I loved the scene when she sits by the older woman on the bus bench and days, you're beautiful.
Off to the beach, heading towards 97 today, with real feel temp of 105. We probably won't stay real long.
Happy birthday DD ! Shirl, eager to hear about what the new job will be. Everyone who I know who has seen Barbie movie has loved it ! Had my physical yesterday and upper GI is still an issue. My Dr. tested me for H Pylori before scheduling an endoscopy. Awaiting results. I received my judicial appointment for my first GAL case. Getting started this afternoon.

Happy B'day, DiamondD! Hope you have a fun day, though it sounds a bit warm even for the beach!
Today my brother and I got the details sorted out for my "retirement" trip/celebration. We are getting it booked now to take advantage of Viking's 25th anniversary deal. We also decided to take a different cruise than previously planned (and cancelled due to the pandemic). We are taking the "Grand European Tour" which is a cruise from Amsterdam to Budapest.
Food/eating remains stable. I am nicely sore this morning from yesterday's workout.
Yesterday I got a lot of business done - renegotiating my cable service so the bill is lower (remember when network TV was FREE?), car registrations paid, and discovered I had an unpaid medical bill from last summer for my annual labs that went to collections!!!!! Damn! How did that happen??? So I got that paid and cleared up. I would have sworn on a stack of bibles that I had paid that bill, but I combed through my bank statements and found no proof of payment, so I paid the bill with my tail tucked between my legs. I have no excuse other than forgetfulness, I suppose! Sigh....
I need to make my life clutter free. It is hard. I have things that I have saved since I was young that are sentimental, but in reality have no value beyond that. When I was in college I had a job as a cashier and waiter in a restaurant. Most of us had pins all over our aprons. I still have most of those pins in a box. Do I need them? Of course not, but for some reason it is hard for me to part with them because they represent me in my youth! I also have rolled up posters from my teens and early 20s that I'm sure I will never hang again, but loathe to part with.... For example I have an original 1944 lobby poster for Meet Me in St. Louis. At least my Douglas Fairbanks Thief of Bagdad poster is framed and hanging. I have had that since I was a teen.... Then, of course, there is the garage....
I think there is some truth to my belief that we spend the first part of our lives accumulating and the last part of our life discarding and simplifying our lives.
See what you did Liz? Got me thinking about clutter! LOL

Happy birthday, DD!
Peps, your pins make me think of the movie Office Space and the restaurant servers' 15 pieces of "flair..."
Crazy day. Starting with Big Mike the construction guy knocking on my door at 8 without anyone telling me he was coming. I was in some Mariana Trench-deep level of sleep I rare reach that I had trouble swimming out of. I was seriously GROGGY and it showed! And true to MI, he did the knock/enter/holler arrival. I never heard the knocking. Everyone just walks in here. I have never lived anywhere else where anyone would think to do that! But it is totally agreed upon behavior here.
Anyway, Big Mike put some knobs on my cupboards (I miss counted when I ordered the first time), glued my countertop down, and put some intense caulking on my shower floor where it cracked to hold me over until the shower can be redone. He also consulted with the main contractor Tim about hanging my tv. No consensus yet, but they will figure it out. Of course I didn't pick a normal tv... I never pick easy stuff.
Given the caulk was drying in my shower, I had to shower in the guest bath. Why did no one tell me that showerhead in there was terrible and broken!? So off I went to the hardware store to buy new showerheads for both bathrooms (this time with handheld heads which makes cleaning the shower so much easier) and a new curved shower rod (the one in there was junk). I also picked up a stick-on shower caddy as there was nowhere to put my shampoo (I know better than to not use other rooms to make sure they are guest friendly and still didn't!). On the way home, I impulsively stopped at the garden store and picked up two gorgeous planted flower pots that were $20 off given the season is ending for them. Score!
This evening has been putting in the bathroom stuff. I have a quiche in the oven.
Anyway, hope you all had a productive day that didn't involve being woken from a comatose state!
Take care!
Greetings all
Happy birthday DD! Enjoy the surf and sun. Mexico right? Love the place.
So the junk moving continues. Boxes and boxes in the back bedroom. They are probably going to end up in the master bedroom as well which means we will be boxed in like rats in a maze for 5 days. Warning to all: get rid of junk now. You will just end up getting rid of it later. Remember the 18 dump trucks it took to clear my mom's house. We are going to have stuff out on the deck covered with tarps by the time this is all done. What is all this crap!!??
CC sorry you had a rude awakening. A forced early awakening can really put you off for the whole day. Glad you found new bathroom stuff. At least the other chores are done.
Enchiladas tonight. They have loads of chicken, no doubt from all the unsold roast chickens at the deli.
Sunny windy day. Our newly trimmed tree is "pitiful" according to DH. I agree. Not sure why the trimmer went overboard. Hope it recovers.
I have a secret bag of trash that I am going to take to the studio and toss in the dumpster there. Keeps DH from going through it and pulling stuff out.
I had tried to get a storage unit for a short time but looks like none are available. So it goes.
Glad to hear the barbie movie was fun Not sure what to expect. I want to see Oppenheimer.
We watched the last episode of A Small Light last night. Really good. We all know what happened to Ann Frank but this story was more about the people who helped them and what became of them. Worth seeing. We also started a series called "bear" about a fancy chef who takes over his family sandwich shop in Chicago. It's interesting but really intense. These people yelling at each other in a kitchen all day.
Good Luck Shirley on the job transition.
Read the fine print on the cruise Peps. My widowed friend had a significant amount of money paid for a Vantage cruise. Vantage is now in bankruptcy and the travel insurance company is saying they are only responsible for events and injury after the cruise starts and the pre cruise cancelation coverage is the responsibility of vantage which is broke. The paperwork is really confusing between the two entities. Buyer beware.
Studio board meeting today. Not much business to do - mostly scheduling for a party for a member who is moving away.
Lab work early tomorrow. At least DH will drive.

The secret bag of trash made me chuckle. When we were getting ready to sell our 20 year home I was separating the keep vs throw stuff in the garage and DH kept moving things from the throw pile to the keep pile (I moved them back when he didn't see). Things like bottles of car cleaner with 1/2 inch left in the bottom even though there were 1-2 full ones.
Former chef DS really liked Bear but I also found it too intense.
