Yesterday we didn't do the beach after all but went to Chatham instead to look at pictures to put over the mantle in Florida. Of course the one I liked best was $4200, LOL.

We stopped at Chatham Bars Inn to have a drink at the outdoor bar and the weather was perfect at that point. What a beautiful resort! While we were there we received notice of the sudden death of one of the new members in our Florida Community at the age of 58. He and his wife had just bought a home this winter. I met his wife when they were renting while looking for their home, and she was trying to meet new people. What a complete shock! Life can be so short and unpredictable.

Today Mike is golfing so I may go to the beach or might poke around the town next to ours. There isn't much in our town.

Time to take a Justice beach walk. Have a winning Wednesday!

I graduated from high school with a famous Cape Cod artist, Jim Holland. Was it his studio, by chance ? I am an official Guardian ad Litem, awaiting her first assignment !! Sadie is NOT enjoying the humidity ! Half way through our usual walk, there is a path that circles back to the parking lot. Even at 7AM, she is signaling that choice.

Off to set up my GAL phone !

It was not Tom Holland though he has a gallery near here (in Orleans).

Congratulations on your GAL status!

So sad for your Florida friend! Another poignant lesson that we need to live now, and not just think, someday.

Still hot and steamy in Boston. Yesterday DH and I browsed through the stores in Jamaica Plain. We rode the subway for one stop, so that cut down a bit on the walking. Ordinarily I wouldn't bother with entering the subway and waiting for a train for just one stop, but it was worth it in this heat.

Evita was very well performed. It's a tough, tough part for the performer who plays Evita, some say it is the hardest score in any musical. This actress killed it.

Today we are meeting up with BFF and her boyfriend. She has been in a long distance romance for many years with a man who lives in Massachusetts, not far from Liz actually. We are rarely in Massachusetts at the same time, but this visit we are overlapping. I like her boyfriend, he's very kind, but he is much older than us, and has no money,( he gave up everything to get divorced,) he is in his 70s and still needs to work, and lives in an efficiency apartment. So he can't be a real partner in life. She says she is happy this way, that she doesn't want to have a man living with her full-time. They see each other every 2 or 3 months. He does treat her well, which is quite change from her husband. Anyhow, we're going to try a Columbian restaurant in JP, and then have some wine and visit on DDs lovely back porch.

Tomorrow we go to Amherst to visit my Aunt and Uncle. DD had class on Saturday, DH and I might take the commuter train up to Rockport Massachusetts, one of my favorite coastal towns.

It sounds like the heat isn't hindering you too much. Our morning walk this morning was incredibly steamy even on the beach.

Hi all! Dad is back from Mayo with a good report. He no longer meets with his oncologist as he doesn't have active cancer, but he likes him quite a bit. The doctor calls him to check in personally every once in a while because the admiration is mutual. Anyway, they made plans to meet while he was there. My dad says he is not aging well and looks very tired. He is planning to retire in 3 years. His job is filled with giving bad news, patients who direct their anger at facing death toward him, and fewer good outcomes. Imagine a job where you lose more than you win. At Mayo, it's often patients who are there as a last ditch effort where others have not been able to save them. So people like my dad who are beating odds worse than pancreatic cancer are probably such a highlight. He had so many questions for my dad. "Tell me about your life?.." I think it's so rare someone like my dad makes it (he originally said he may live 2 years back in 2016) that he likes to hear they are using their gifted time wisely. He thanked him for saving his life. I hope he can see how many lives saving one has affected - me, Claudia, all the people who love my dad...

Today I have some treasurer stuff to do. Blech. Otherwise, maybe reading outside for a while.

Love hearing about each and every one of your days, whether you have big things going on (congrats on the GAL, Diane O! Go Blitz and Peps!), or little things like scoring a pot pie or shopping for art or seeing shows. I would love to do a get together! You all all welcome in Sedona or if it ended up being somewhere else more central, I will travel!

Greetings all

Early check in for me but I am still doing coffee in pjs. The floor event is looming and there is so much to be done. I decided I would start on the kitchen stuff which is in a couple of bookshelves that have to be moved. But just the thought is tiring. I am gonna call the university here that has students willing to do odd jobs.

Last night's meeting was not too bad. Oddly there was not a lot of arguing about the art work presented. There was more argument about one of the applicants who has an annoying personality. Kind of a bulldozer person who never shuts up. Then we ended up in an argument about the by laws and what constitutes a quorum and what vote is needed for a new member. no one had a current by law copy at the meeting so I was asked to review it and reach some conclusions. Short answer is majority vote of all members to admit a new member and not just majority of quorum present. Some people take this stuff really personally and get all cranky. We just had some people spend a lot of energy revising the by laws but they are really not any better. Just nit picky. And there is one member who wants to quote the by laws all the time and infer that people aren't doing their jobs in the process. But I think it all ended well. There is also the case of one guy who was suspended for a bit and his returning to the gallery. I thought he should be allowed to return and this did happen. So tempest in teapot reasonably calm. I am likely to see Miss Bulldozer at the other studio and not looking forward to that but I will live. Who needs a controversy club??

So dinner last night was delayed and I didn't get bacon made. Just ate some deli tuna salad. Hoping for better tonight.

Lord this heat wave! People on an airplane waiting in las vegas had no ac and people fainted and were hospitalized. Be careful everyone. 60 degrees here. (snicker).

Congrats Ocean D for being GAL. A very important service.

Liz sorry for the sudden death of friend. Live life indeed.

DD glad you got to see BFF. Stay cool out there.

Not much else. Gotta get after those cookbooks!
