Good morning! Mostly recovered from the trials of yesterday. DD is attending a baby shower. While she's away DH and I plan on cleaning her porch/deck. There was some work done in the attic of the house (her apt. is the 3rd floor) and somehow this caused some dust and other stuff to end up on her deck. We'll "set it right in short order" as my uncle likes to say.
When DD gets back, we plan on going to a movie. I am very in favor of sitting in a dark, cool theater eating a bit of popcorn and enjoying an icy diet coke.
I haven't been able to weigh myself, but I would guess I gained a few pounds on the cruise. I didn't take my Wegovy shots for two weeks. I just did an injection on Thursday at the lowest dose. It is muting some of the cravings. Before vacation, I was on the next step up, that felt more effective. So anyhow, back to eating with more intention.
Too difficult to diet on vacation!
DH is golfing today so I am at the beach down the road from his house (which we moved to yesterday). Tiny beach when it is high tide. Annoying that larger groups spread out so broadly that smaller groups (like 1 in my case) are on top of one another. I like my Falmouth beaches better.
Also, I guess DH and family really are completely not handy. Very few tools and supplies like screws. His son-in-law mounted a door stop for the bathroom using 3M stickers but it has already pulled off taking the paint. I need to reattach it with screws (which I would have used in the first place). I have a few tasks I want to do here which require tools not available.
Time to spread out a little before there is no sand left. Have a super Sunday. See you tomorrow DD!
In addition to being a veterinarian, my Dad can build a house from the ground up, it's how he earned money in the summer when he was in vet school. Every house I lived in growing up except for 1, he built. 2 of my uncles are carpenters. DH is that way too, he can fix or build anything. He's a good mechanic too. So it's always a surprise to me when people aren't handy. But of course not everyone is, or who would hire my Uncles. One of my uncles likes to quote Red Green: If women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy :)
I am actually pretty handy - not like your Dad but I'll try a lot of things. Neither current nor deceased DH were handy at much other than calling a handyman.
WOW! Liz's comment: Too difficult to diet on vacation! hit me like a ton of bricks! That's why I love what i'm doing these days. There is no diet involved. It's simply eating with intention. At times the intention is nutrition, sometimes it is pleasure and sometimes it is satisfying a craving. Whatever the intention I can take this style of eating with me and not worry about going off a "diet". There is something so freeing about this mindset change. I no longer feel guilty when I eat a food that isn't considered 'diet appropriate'. I know this mindset would not work for everyone, especially if the main goal is to lose weight. My weight loss is SLOOOOOWWWWW. But it works for me and has helped me get comfortable with my body. That in itself is golden!
One more day of dog shows. Hoping for continued success. Fingers crossed. Home tonight and then will need to get my stuff together to leave bright and early for Disneyland on Tuesday. Yay!
More later!
Greetings Peeps and Peps
It's a sunny sunday and DH has been busily mowing and weed whacking in the back yard. I think the suggestion by the tree man that he also had a yard service we might need - that somehow bugged DH and he is busy at it. Whatever.
DD your heat adventure sounds icky. Cool theatre and cold drinks sounds like just the plan. Enjoy.
Peps you are on the right track food wise. Sustainable habits are key. There is an old book "Diets Don't Work" that is about intuitive eating. Eat when hungry, stop when no longer hungry and all that. But it's a pretty good thing. Sounds like you are on that path. Part of it is keeping occupied with stuff you enjoy so there is less recreational eating.
Liz I used to be fairly handy but not anymore. DH thinks he is handy but.....Some are, some aren't.
I have started in earnest to move stuff out of the great room ahead of the floor in a couple of weeks. It only demonstrates the magnitude of the task. Plus how much dust there is.
So I have a mink coat that belonged to my mother. I won't wear it - too fat plus it's not cold here. Trying to figure out a use. I offered it to the woman who nursed my mother as she is in cold climate and right size. Not sure she wants it. Internet says donate to person in cold climate. Might have to send it to the goodwill in Alaska. Nothing is simple. So much stuff that just needs to go.
Cheers all. Diane S
