Of course Peps is fit: Strong and fit!

No thanks to Disneyland at least not for a full day. I used to find those trips with the kids exhausting. Though I'd like to go back for perhaps a couple of half days. It annoys me that the tickets are so expensive.

Justice is doing better but still a bit slower than usual. He did eat and drink well yesterday. He is on pain medication for another 4 days.

Long day today. Awake at 3, up at 4:30, in the car with SILs on the way to Boston at 6. We are here for 1 SIL's appointments with her oncologist. We should be done by 1, then will probably go somewhere for lunch. To Worcester for a wedding shower at 5, then back to the Cape by about 8:30 or 9. Whew!

Mike and I booked a trip back to Florida for 7/28-8/5. We are finally over our travel fatigue and would like to get some things done around the new condo. Still no offers on the other Florida house other than a real low-ball one in the beginning. Very frustrating for Mike.

Have a fine Friday!

I have heard that Florida real estate picks up in the autumn when other markets start to drop. Maybe pull the condo off the market until September and then put it back on mid September for the snowbirds who are looking for Florida digs??????

That is probably true because most people don't want to be in Florida during the summer. In the fall the weather improves and people may be looking for places to be ready for the worst of the winter. I looked for and found my previous place in November.

Quick check in.... I'm in Carmel Valley (basically 2.5 miles inland from the Pacific) for a dog show. Gorgeous weather. It is super hot inland, with tomorrow reaching 105+ in some areas. Shouldn't be more than 80 here with lovely sea breezes. This is the weather I can get behind. Fog came in after I went to bed at 11:30 and was cleared up by about 9 am. I could manage this all summer! LOL! I love cool nights for good sleeping and warm days for wearing shorts and flip flops!

Had a great workout on Wednesday and am still feeling the sore this morning. It's funny.... when you work out enough you come to know that there is a good sore and a bad sore. This is definitely a good sore.

I am pleased with my eating and weight. I am very close to moving into a lower "decade" on the scale so am trying to focus on how nice that will be for me to accomplish without dieting.

Okay.... off to get Blitz gussied up....

Been doing nothing, kind of, and the day flies by. It was wonderful to see DD yesterday. While we were on our cruise, she was in Rome and London. I think I mentioned this before, she did a semester abroad 10 years ago in Rome, and formed a tribe of 11 women *****fer to themselves as "The Roma Girls". They have smaller yearly trips together like NYC, and every couple of years a big trip like Iceland, or this year Rome. In between they have zoom meetings and now are starting to have a lot of weddings in the group that bring them together. I just LOVE that they have stayed friends for 10 years now.

DD is in pretty good spirits as she had a lovely trip, and has more free time now, since she doesn't have an internship and only has 2 classes on Saturday, not 3. She told me she's nervous about this fall when she starts another internship, and coursework increases again. I told her she has tools now that she didn't have last winter. And always, always, she can home to regroup if it all gets to be too much. She can pause and restart later if needed. But I am optimistic she will be okay.

My Mom is having a fib and still retaining too much water, so she is back in the hospital. Her kidney function has not been good for years, so they have to consider that when prescribing diuretics. I'm wondering if they will need to do dialysis to pull the fluid off...

Not much going on today, I've cleaned up DDs kitchen (it makes me happy to help her and her roommates, they all work so hard, and one of them is also taking classes) and I'm hoping to get into a book soon. I didn't have any time to read on our trip.

Speaking of, we had an awesome time. Every place had su*****redible natural beauty, and history! Daily DH and I would look at each other and say, Can you believe we are in (insert location). My Uncle was amazing with his determination to keep going. Overall, he managed very well, and made some good choices about what was and wasn't safe. My Aunt has endless energy for an 80 year old woman, and can walk and walk. The small ship cruising concept worked so well, virtually no lining up for anything, and much more serene. Entertainment in the evening was a 4 piece band in a lovely lounge, which we really, really enjoyed. There were some academic talks about whiskey vs. Scotch, the future of the Royal family...we enjoyed those too.

So no big plans until Monday when DH and I are meeting up with our Massachusetts tribe member before she takes off on another trip! :)

Busy day yesterday. We had people over and one is in a wheelchair, so lots of extra work to get the outside fit for him as the house is old and raised and there is no way for him to get inside. We had a nice time and my dinner was a hit.

The tv saga continues as I scheduled the Fed Ex pick up for today. The time frame is from 8 to 8. Knowing my folks sometimes sleep in especially after a busy day, I asked my dad's wife who could be a weatherwoman if it was supposed to rain. She was adamant that it wasn't. The forecast agreed. We are in a severe drought here (only 1.1 inches of rain since June 1 (foreshadowing, before last night...)!) So we hauled the tv in front of their house. At 5am the skies opened up!! Argh! We got 0.8" inches in 30 minutes. On the radar is was a tiny storm and the only one on Lake MI. Right over our house. In the morning, I checked the box and it was complete mush. So I reboxed it in the box that the replacement tv came in and threw a tarp over it. We've had 2 more storms pop up out of nowhere for another 0.5". I can't bring myself to look under the tarp to see if water seeped under. It just needs to leave and then I'm no longer responsible for it. And it's broken for goodness sake. A lot of effort for a tv they can't resell!

I got my hair colored today and have one unpleasant task left to go pick up checks from a woman I greatly dislike to be able to deposit them. Then I'm free.

In the meantime, I'm online browsing for new deck furniture...

Food is okay, but not stupendous. Still fighting my demons.

Hope you all have a great day!

I find that having access to choices online is great and frustrating at the same time. Sometimes it seems difficult to narrow down the selections presented to the features you want. And unless there are a lot of reviews or you already know the brand it can be hard to judge the quality. I have been looking for a table for our lanai and have had to spend many hours searching through stuff.

It was great to read all of todays posts so far ! We are a tremendous tribe for sure !! Yesterday afternoon, my insurance company called to tell me my collision and comprehensive coverages were being suspended as of tomorrow because I hadn't had my car inspected in NY within 30 days. I've never purchased a car out of state before, and when you purchase a brand new car with less than 1,000 miles in NY from a dealer, you get your first NYS inspection sticker. The woman in the title department of my dealership down here took the bull by the horns and straightened everything out, so she has an Edible Arrangement being delivered. I love it when people go out of their way to help !! I just completed a LGBTQ training for my Guardian ad Litem certification, and it was powerful and enlightening !

Stay cool and dry !!

I'm glad you had help to clear up the car insurance issue. So confusing to figure out the different rules from state to state.

Greetings all

Another sunny day here. But I drove to Arcata to the bank and such and on return there was a wall of fog at my exit. It did not make it to our house. It might get to 70 today.

The excitement du jour is that I had the tree man come and estimate tree trimming. The maple in the front is getting quite large and it's lovely but it may engulf the house plus the neighbors yard. So he is going to limb it up, thin in, and decrease the silhouette by about a third. This is the tree that DH keeps watering and I tell him to stop because I don't want it to keep growing. It's a great shade tree. Also he will do the birch trees in the back which are reaching over the fence. They will cut the wood up and chip it and we could have it except we have no fire place. I told him to keep it. I guess I could put the chips in the garden but sounds like work. Work to be done in late august.

And speaking of the outdoors, a bear was spotted in someones backyard at the end of our block! Merrily having his way with the trash. So we have to worry about that!

CC I am with you on the tv. Why bother to send it back if it's beyond repair. And nuts on the rainstorm that came just on your house.

DH brought some pizza home for lunch. But next time I cook I am going to try your recipe Liz. Looks good. Bet it would work with fresh tomatoes if they were skinned.

Peps Carmel valley sounds great. Go say hello to Clint Eastwood. Hope the show goes well. I have only been there once but what a great place!

Ocean Diane I am glad to hear they have LGBTQ training with your ad litum program. Makes sense. I never thought of that factor in child custody but of course it is.

Welcome back DD. Glad the trip was good. Also glad your DD is doing better and you are helping her. So great she has the girl tribe. I am still in touch with my high school clique after over 50 years. Runs deep.

Not much else. Stay cool all. Diane S
