Tough night for Justice as he had 4 teeth removed. He was still very woozy when I picked him up at 4 yesterday and kept crying. DH and I went to Mission Impossible at the theatre 10 minutes away and I left Justice with DS but I came home partway through because he wouldn't stop crying and DS was concerned. He was better lying on me like a baby. This morning he is much improved but clearly not himself. I have liquid pain medication to give him for the next few days.

Today we may bring some stuff to DH's house and go to the beach and dinner there. We will bring Justice with us.

Below is the recipe for the pizza casserole with my notations on it. I do use turkey pepperoni and I add microwave precooked onions and peppers and triple the tomatoes as noted. This could be changed to a "white" pizza if the tomatoes are removed and almost any pre-cooked vegetable which one likes on a pizza could be added/substituted. I started making this a few months after my VSG and it has continued to be a favorite.

Have a thrifty Thursday!

Good morning! Back to Boston with reliable internet. I was going to try to be the first one posting this morning at 6:30 am, but just as I pulled out my tablet, the fire alarm sounded and we had to evacuate our room. All is good though, we had breakfast, and now we are getting ready to move from the airport hotel to DDs apartment.

I'll post more once I read everything I missed, looking forward to catching up on everyone's news.

Poor little Justice. Sounds rough for such a sweet guy. I thought of Justice when we were in Edinburgh. We drove by a Chihuahua Cafe! You know how some coffee shops have cats? This one featured Chihuahuas. I tried to take a picture, but we went by too quickly.

Good morning! Yesterday was busy and by the time I thought to post, I figured I should wait for today.

We met with the blinds guy and ordered Hunter Douglas shades for both houses (lots of windows). You don't want to know what that cost! My dad's comment was what do people who can't afford that do in a starter house? He said now he understands sheets hung in windows...

We fiddled with moving a tv into the barn gym (it uses my wifi), but the signal isn't quite strong enough. Need to find a way to boost it. Also went to the grocery store. I also set up my new tv that came yesterday to replace the broken one to make sure it works before tossing the boxes. It still needs to go on the wall, but the construction guys are going to do it for me.

Today I am meeting with a local upholstery woman to make new slipcovers for the main house dining chairs. The fabric I picked last time faded and wasn't thick enough.

Food hasn't been bad. I get a lot of steps here between the two houses and the barn, but could use some more committed walking.

Peps, I too dislike green peppers! Onions and tomatoes are fine but I prefer raw cherry tomatoes and cooked onions to their opposites.

Take care all...

Ah, the recipe is very much like a taco casserole or enchilada casserole. While I value lower carb eating I will never go KETO or Carnivore, so I immediate went to, "Oh, a bottom layer of polenta would make this an exquisite dish!" LOL!

I questioned Liz's referral to me as "fit" the other day. I have always thought of myself since I began working out as "strong", but never fit because of my size. So I asked the trainer what she considered fit. She paused a moment and said that she really considers fitness to be the level a person's mobility and the level at which our internal organs function and as we age, how many medications we take. She feels that hypertension meds and high cholesterol meds are enhancements to fitness and are usually needed as we age. So, she, like Liz, sees me as a fit person. So, I'm going to own FIT along with strong.

My Peps Method of eating is paying off. My weight continues to drop by ounces. It's kind of fun being able to eat my favorite treats and still watch the scale move on down.

Sure will be interesting to see how I manage eating at Disneyland next week. Yes, I'm going to Disneyland. It's been way too long since I've been. I love Disneyland. Tickets and wait times are all high tech now.... There is a damn app for everything now, isn't there?!?! One can even order food on the app and "wait in line" digitally.

Off to Carmel for the last dog show for many weeks. I'm actually looking forward to a little break. Yes, I love it, but it's work and it is tiring.

Hasta La Bye Bye!

Greetings all

Thanks Liz for posting that recipe. Looks good. I may even try it. Of course, like I do everything, I try to think of short cuts and ways to cheat..I might try a sweet red pepper instead of green. When I was younger I loved green peppers but now not so much. This is a good reminder that with fairly small effort I can begin to eat properly again.

Kudos Peps on the peps eating method. So often traditional dieting seems to result on food fixation which causes more issues. And speaking of issues, I am with Ocean Diane on being repulsed by all you can eat buffets. Yep it usually means low quality carb heavy food and none of it is any good. Years ago a good friend was occasionally dragged to Old Country Buffet by an elderly neighbor. My friend got sick every time. Sometimes I know I over eat because I am seeking a satisfying flavor and if nothing tastes that good I keep trying more stuff. I would also make all these food bargains with myself - ie if I don't eat ant of x then I am allowed to eat y.

Liz so sorry for Justice. Poor little guy. Hope he feels better soon.

Welcome back DD. Loved your travel posts. Looking forward to hearing more about the trip. Hope the aunt and uncle did well.

It's actually almost warm here today. Sun is out and I was content to be barefoot in the house. Usually it's too chilly. Not today. I made my rounds of banking and errands and then stopped in the studio to goof around. Even with the sun out I could see some fog rolling in off the ocean on the west side of the freeway. It's almost like the fog knows that the freeway is its boundary.

CC all those blinds! Tell your dad that people with starter homes go to garage sales and buy curtains like all the ugly ones that infested my house when I bought it. Immediately took them all down. All baby blue. Ick. Hope you get a good installer and that they arrive soon. Reminds me I need new ones for my sky lights. No telling how many spiders are up there (but no scorpions).

And yay for Disneyland. I love the place too though going through it with a bunch of phone apps sounds not so good.

Cheers. Diane S
