Yesterday I had a sense of gloom all day. I don't know why. I did cook last night and made my pizza casserole which DH and I love. DS wanted to know why I didn't add more salt or cheese. I said because it tasted great and was more healthy. He agreed. It has Turkey sausage, diced tomatoes, onions, peppers, mushrooms, basil, oregano, mozzarella, and Turkey pepperoni in it.

I have to take Justice for his teeth cleaning (and nail clipping while under) in 1/2 hour and I have PT just before lunch. Hopefully Justice will be ready for pickup after that. He usually wakes up fairly quickly after anesthesia.

Not much else on the agenda. We may eat the rest of the casserole tonight but possibly tomorrow if there are any other ideas tonight. DH is staying here with me until Friday when he goes golfing again and I leave early to spend the day with SILs. Justice and I will join him at his house on Saturday.

It is another beautiful day like yesterday today - the extended forecast looks like a chance of showers for all remaining days showing so we shall see.

Have a winning Wednesday!

That "pizza" does sound good ! I had an interesting experience last night. The five of us in our Mahjongg group take turns hosting and picking the restaurant for supper first. The location selected for last night was an all you can eat buffet, which I didn't know until we got there (I usually check the menu online first). I have not been to an all you can eat buffet since VSG !! All of our other outings have offered a range of healthy options. This was all fried and crappy carbs, except for salad bar portion. My attention was drawn to the plates and plates and plates loaded with food and shoveled in at an alarming rate. How different my life is now.

Age: 64; 5' 5"; High weight: 345; Start weight: 271 (01/05/15); Surgery weight: 218 (05/27/15); Pre-Op (-53); M 1 (-18); M 2 (-1.5); M 3 (-13.5 ); M 4 (-13); M 5 (- 8); M 6 (-12) M 7 (-5, Xmas); M 8 (- 9) Under surgeon's goal and REACHED HEALTHY BMI 12/07/15!! Yeah, buffets are rather alarming aren't they?

From the cool of the northern CA coast to the inferno of East Bay and Central Valley! It's been over 90 the past two days and we are on the rise to 105 on Saturday. That's what I get for being a bit out of sorts about the summer chill in Ferndale. I am regretting my unwelcoming attitude toward the fog and chilly breeze! LOL!

I am happily "stuck" 7 pounds below my red line weight. I would still absolutely LOVE if I could find the wherewithal to lose an additional 13 pounds before October. However, I am dedicated to not triggering the eating disorder to do it, so I shall only do what is in my best interest long term.

I posted this on FB the other day, but it came out of my monthly therapy session: It's far more comfortable accepting myself for who I am, than berating myself for what I am not. I realize how much more accepting I have become of who I am at the moment and far less critical of what I am not. It's a very freeing turn of attitude. I know Diamond Diane has embraced this, as have a number of you. I'm just arriving to this place. It's really quite a nice place to be.

Today is house cleaning day. I didn't get nearly done what I had aspired to yesterday. That's okay, though. I'm looking at it as a self care day. Got a haircut, got my shopping done, got to the cleaners, got the kitchen cleaning started, and decided to treat myself to a massage. (I generally get one per month, but decided to splurge a little yesterday!)

I had to laugh at my reaction to Liz's pizza casserole - YUCK! But that is because it contains three of my most hated vegetables that everyone else seems to consider staples in cooking: diced tomatoes, peppers (I'm assuming green bell peppers), and mushrooms. One of the things I have always hated about the weight loss programs like Weigh****chers is that they focus on the inclusion of those three ingredients. I can manage, if I absolutely have to, green peppers and mushrooms in moderation, but the diced tomatoes are an absolute turn off. The texture and the taste.... (I wonder if it's a gene thing, you know like cilantro? If you don't have the "cilantro gene" apparently you cannot abide the flavor!) I am curious though, Liz, what is the binding agent in the casserole, or is there one?

Not much else going on. Hope you all got to see Blitz's ad on FB. I'm pretty proud of my boy! And thanks to Diane S. for posting some of the pics she took at the show.

There are 2 cups of mozzarella cheese which is sort of a binder but it really kind of falls apart. They were yellow and orange peppers but the same idea. Funny that you hate tomatoes because I LOVE them. I actually triple the quantity called for in the recipe which by the way can be totally tweaked to take out or add what you want. The original does not have onions or peppers in it (and only a small amount of tomatoes). You could remove the tomatoes and some of the veggies and add other ones. I also love cilantro btw.

You are doing great with your acceptance and losing weight (or stabilizing) without dieting. Very healthy for you!

You know how I could manage the recipe? I would change out the diced tomatoes for a marinara sauce. Not quite as healthy, but would be tasty. I can handle tomato sauces (as long as they are pureed and well seasoned). Red and Yellow peppers are fine. They are ripe and the taste does not bother me in the same way a green bell pepper does. The mushrooms would be left out altogether!

I LOVE Cilantro, too!!!!!

I don't know what it is with me and vegetables. I am the only one in my entire family who does not really delight in vegetables. My father does not like legumes of any sort, but eats all vegetables as long as they "undercooked". My mom would eat anything, as does my brother. Both my brother and mother can/could eat tomatoes like an apple. YUCK!

I am like a bad version of my father or a kid who never learned to like most vegetables that are hated as a child. When I grill zucchini I scrape out the seed part because I hate the watery mush in the middle. As a kid I went through a stage where at one time I would only eat broccoli stalks. Then it was only broccoli florets. Now I'm partial to to the florets, but happily eat the stalks - again must be not be overcooked. I don't like well cooked broccoli of any sort. Don't like broccoli in soup - cream of broccoli is completely gagalicious!

Funny how our likes and dislikes developed from childhood. I HATE beets - my mother never served them so the first time I had them I was over served canned beets by a friends mother because I finished the first serving (cleaning my plate as I was taught).

MIL used to hate anything with cheese or cream in it. Except for ice cream and whipped cream LOL. Her children hated a lot of those things too since she never served them.

Greetings all

A cool nice day here on the north coast. Sun could not make up its mind to come out.

Stopped in at the studio after housekeeper came. I am lucky to have such a nice trustworthy person to clean and she house sits if we ever go anywhere which we don't.

Liz that pizza casserole sounds great. Love all that stuff. All the best to Justice. We put some stuff in our dogs water to keep their breath fresh but I swear it helps keep teeth cleaner. Pet shop product.

Did some glazing at the studio. Place was packed due to some kind of glass fusing workshop. Then I stopped at the hippie grocery to get hamburger for the dogs. They get a spoon full each day on their kibble. Throwback to the days when I made homemade diet for old Chip.

Lordy the weather in other parts of our nation sounds horrific. Heat and floods. No thanks. Everyone inland comes here when it's hot. Hence a huge sale day at our gallery which is always good news. We are beginning to catch up on sales after a lousy winter when it rained so much and the power was out.

I am enjoying my two new tie dyed shirts I bought in ferndale. Tie dye is epidemic here. Lots of old hippies.

Not much else. Chicken tonight. Cheers.
