Peps article on survival rates of inactive vs. active people as they age was interesting. Though I don't think we all have to be quite as fit as Peps (unless we want to be), it does seem to make sense for us to stay as active as we can. The people I know who never go anywhere, not to take a walk, swim, or much of anything are way less healthy than those who do something physical on a regular basis.

I ended up with SILs cold from last weekend. Seems like a long incubation period. This is my second this year and I rarely get them. What the heck?

Eldest DD left for a week on Martha's Vineyard with other family this morning. It was a great visit. I hope she gets a break and doesn't have to cope with her Aunt's illness. Eldest DD is actually my stepdaughter from my prior marriage and the aunt is her birth mother's sister so I don't know her. The aunt is in the hospital in Boston for the second time in 2 weeks and there is no prediction on next steps since she is in severe liver failure and on the transplant list. A lot for DD to handle.

DH is playing golf this afternoon and I have no idea what I am doing. I probably need to think of something for dinner. Pressure!

Have a simple Sunday!

Good (late) morning from the CA Pacific North Coast. It is my last day here. I'm a bit sad that I was not able to make it to the beach. Some friends went with their dogs and noticed a small raft of Sea Lions following them and watching the dogs. Charming, right?

We did get sun in the afternoon here yesterday and the weather was really lovely. Today it is once again dreary, but the sun is threatening to make an appearance. I can only hope.

It was really nice to see Diane S. yesterday. However, I am damn envious that half an In 'n Out hamburger can fill Diane and her hubby. I can eat an entire double burger there, and I don't feel overly full. Though, to be honest, it's only about 4 oz of meat on the double.

Blitz has had a decent show weekend. Hoping for another group placement today. Fingers crossed.

Food has been on point since arriving in Ferndale. I planned ahead and brought steaks to grill. Friday dinner was steak and salad and a peach. Last night was a steak and an apple. Frankly, I could not have been more satisfied. It is so enjoyable to me to eat a cold, crispy, yet juicy sweet apple. Pair it with a well seasoned grilled steak.... FANTASTIC!

Not much else from me today... Hope everyone is enjoying a lovely Sunday (or Monday morning in Shirl's case).

Good job in food planning! I feel like that is one of the keys to healthy eating (but sometimes seems so difficult).

I agree! Plus, you travel so much and always seem to be on the go. That lifestyle makes it very difficult to plan. I find that at home I get so busy and don't even get around to thinking about dinner until 7 or 8 and by that time I'm tired and don't have the energy to cook up a healthy dinner. This is a specific habit I am trying to improve.

Greetings all

Sunny here on the north coast. DH got ambitious and did some weed whacking in the front and decided I should prune the princess bush that got nipped in the winter frost. So I did it to keep him from butchering it. Cut off the dead stuff without ugly looking gashes. It seems to be doing well except for the outer dead stuff so I am hoping it survives and flowers later in the summer.

Yeah I can only eat a half cheeseburger from in and out. Ate half for dinner last night and the rest today at mid day. But Peps, we ate a grilled ham and cheese at the dog show. That Lion's club food truck had good stuff. I saw the afghan was best in show. Nice dog but I was rooting for the airedale.

Interesting but not surprising that sedentary people don't do so well. I really do need to get off my azz. Why don't I? Because it hurts to move and I feel off balance. Answer: treadmill or pool.

Gallery duty tomorrow all day long. It will be slow because it's monday. I will try to do some squats and my tendonitis exercises.

Quick trip to the store which was delightfully uncrowded. Nothing gets me to the store faster than being out of half and half. Coffee without it is completely uncivilized.

BLT for dinner tonight. and there are still french fries from In and Out.
