Muggy again! But not raining and the sun is hiding so it was the perfect day to do some outdoor stuff: front door screen replaced, outdoor shower cleaned, deck cleaned and furniture put out, and the Solo fire pit is out. The only thing not done is the screen porch under the deck but we have had enough for today.

We are meeting a friend I used to work with and her husband for dinner where an old friend of DH's is playing music later this afternoon. In between, hopefully it will be dry enough for a Justice walk. But he is happy sitting out on the deck with us.

No progress on trying to rein in eating. My lifestyle is not conducive to cutting back. Too many social engagements around food!

Have a super Sunday!

It's 10:30pm, and we had another busy, full day. We've walked more than 12,000 steps each day. This is incredible, as my Uncle has Parkinson's, but he is doing so well. He did a lot of work with a PT before the trip, and is using a walking stick.

More later, but whew! Tired.

I bet you are exhausted. I hope your uncle can keep it up.

I made it safely! This morning's drive was frankly terrifying at the start. Lots of thunderstorms in IL and I couldn't see at all. A car spun out in front of me. I got off and parked at a gas station until it let up some. I was shaking all over. Gah.

But it's lovely here! And 68 versus 101 degrees. My house turned out great. I'm really pleased. The internet isn't up yet, which is a bummer, but the electrician needs to do some work on the cable outlet.

I spent the afternoon putting my kitchen stuff away and washing mattress pads and cushion covers that got dirty. The house needs a good clean even though they did their best to get the construction dust cleaned up. Gives me something to do.

Must go make beds and unpack. Take care everyone!

I am glad you made it safely! Are you sure driving causes less stress than flying?

Not when I don't plan it out! Driving eliminates the packing issues, timing issues, airport and logistical stress (getting there and home when I live more than 2 hours away and flying east means 6am flights and 10pm arrivals and someone needs to come get me in MI and that's an hour and a half drive both ways when it's late).

But driving is slower and comes with weather issues. Mostly I enjoy it when I know I have someplace to stay and don't run into scary storms!

I guess the pain of flying is over faster than the lesser but longer pain of driving?

Definitely pros and cons of both! I was sick of driving to Florida 5 years ago but then I met Mike who always drove. Now he is sick of it too and we plan to fly from now on. We would love to fly directly to our Florida town but the only airline that flys there departs from an airport 2 hours away up here and leaves at 6 am. Yuck! So we drive an hour on this end and 1.5 hours on the other with a 3 hour flight in the middle but we can time it whenever works best during the day.

Greetings all

It finally feels like summer. ie no socks needed at night. We went to friends today for the July 4 party - early but who cares. It was nice to gather but it's nice to be home. Hotdogs grilled outside are certainly more delicious. I brought a made up fruit tray and cheese crisps and wine. Dessert was a sundae bar with about 20 different toppings. I had a small amount. Sleeve still is on patrol. I found myself sort of envying friends who could eat more. Wishing I could eat a whole ear of sweet corn. Oh well. I am better off.

CC glad you made it. Yeah for some reason in Illinois the sky opened and means business. Wise of you to stop.

We have watched Citadel, a spy thriller. Rather violent and not my favorite. But we are done with it now.

Not much else. Still sort of in denial to have to move all the junk but it will be what it is.

Cheers. Diane S

You can't eat an ear of corn? Interesting. I definitely can.
