Believe it or not we were bored yesterday (are you kidding you ask?). So today we are going snorkeling and trying to figure out how to avoid going to lunch with our friends. We enjoy their company but hate this restaurant that the husband raves about. You wait in line to buy fish or shrimp and they cook it in yucky oil for you. I don't like the shrimp and I don't like oily food. The place is cool. It used to be mostly locals and is on the water though it has been written up a lot so many tourists visit. I would go if DH wanted to but he went last year and didn't like it anymore than I did.

I am sure the rest of the week will go quickly - home on Saturday!

Abbott Elementary is a great show. Very funny but I think rooted in some truth that teachers will recognize. At the heart is that they are a group of mixed age/background teachers who want to do the best for their students. The main actress is tremendous but the rest of the cast is great too.

Time to get lotioned up and pack the snorkeling gear. Have a marvelous Monday!

Good morning! Looks like a beautiful week of weather here. After the record breaking snowfall this winter, it is turning into a summer of drought. Yesterday's rain was the proverbial drop in a bucket. Our lakes and rivers and aquifers are all topped off, but the crops and trees need some rainfall...

The visit to my parents house was pretty heavy. Aging, trapped in their house together day after day, it starts to resemble a scene from Who's Afraid of Virginia Wolf. They've always been turbulent together, bickering, fighting and then professions of great love. But ugh. I guess old age and illness can amplify who we really are ... I again must tell myself that they never lived a life of contentment or gratitude or peace, why would I expect it now. But man it gets ugly... I asked DH last night, What will I mourn when they eventually do pass? Because of course I love them "in all their flawed humanity " (Prince of Tides)...

Bright spot: my nephew and his family stopped by and I got to play with my great nephews. Good news, the floor is lava lives on.

Today, work out, some more packing, and housekeeping and maybe time to read. The packing was feeling a bit overwhelming, so I've been doing one or two categories a day, using packing cubes. So far I have summer weight sweaters, dresses, and scarves done. Meds also. Tops, pants, undergarments next, then final decisions about shoes.

Have a great kickoff to the week!

ACK! My dad called at 5:15 this morning. He couldn't find his walker so he couldn't get out of bed. I'm not sure where it was or where the care taker may have put it when Dad went to bed. Long and short is my dad didn't want to pee the bed so he peed on the floor from his bed. He had forgotten that he wears a pendent that he can call a medical assistant to come and help him. Sigh....

Lulu is going to spend a few days with my BFF to see if it's a good fit. Lulu loves him and his boy Ace needs a new companion since their Rosie died a few months ago. Always hard to let an adult go, but it is also in the dog's best interest. While I can provide a good life for any dog, in a home with fewer dogs she'll have much more individual attention.

Food, eating.... all good here. I'm not shaking off that 2+ pounds I found late last week, but c'est la vie!

Liz, you are so used to being busy, busy I can see that a quiet day would seem boring! LOL

DD, happy packing! I'm impressed by your organization. I tend to pack the day before I leave. I truly have perfected procrastination.

Hoping this turns out to be a great week for us all!!!!!

Aww, your poor Dad, problem solving the best he could. None of this stuff is easy...

Turned out to be 92 degrees today! The only sensible response was to bag all of our other plans and head to the beach. Very nice afternoon there. Now I am home, sitting on my shady front porch... 90 degrees when I'm in the shade with a cool drink feels about perfect to me ...

Greetings all

The sun is playing hide and seek today so I am in long sleeves. I prefer it to displaying my saggy arms. I so remember my middle school chorus teacher who always wore short sleeves and whose flabby arms could generate wind gusts. And then there were the lunch lady arms..... Now it's me.

Peps sorry your Dad had a bad morning. So many older people don't seem to be able to work those pendants or won't wear them or misplace them or whatever. Not a good morning for you. Can he practice using the device a few times? Probably annoying to staff - especially if everyone does it - but might take that to learn it.

Bored Liz? Well better than the greasy restaurant. I bet you don't stay bored long.

Yeah we really like Abbott Elementary. It kind of grows on you. First episode or two were ho hum but it pulls you in. The Halloween episode was a hoot.

We watched The Fablemans last night. It was decent but I didn't love it. Can't really say why except it just was not as compelling as Parasite. Has anyone watched The Whale? Great reviews but likely depressing.

DD glad you got a lake day. Nothing like a lake to swim in on a hot day. Cool lake and a cold drink. Yay.

Any balloons today CC? We used to get the goodyear blimp but I have not seen it in several years.

I stopped in the studio today after some gallery banking. Sales have really picked up there which is good because we were really lagging. So back to making more of my little creatures. I had a couple of items come out of the kiln which I had forgotten about.

So leftovers of the chicken and spinach tonight. Then there is steak for tomorrow.

Cheers. Diane S

I started to watch The Whale on one of our plane rides. I probably watched about a third of it but it was too depressing to watch more. Very good acting.
