Along the theme of "Strange how stuff 'disappears' when we put them away for safe-keeping": DH can't find his wallet. We searched for about 2 hours before we left for the funeral yesterday. He called the place where he remembered using it the prior day and the police. There are only credit cards and his license in it. Luckily he can still go to Aruba if it is still missing since he still has his passport, but he can't rent the car tomorrow or pay for anything while we are away via credit. He said he has this vague thought that he tucked it somewhere thinking it would be a safe place. Yup! Safe from EVERYONE!
I have now had 3 nights of being able to sleep on my side. The cortisone shot definitely is working wonders so far. I still have a snappy type pain in the front of my bicep periodically but maybe it will subside too as it can take up to a week for full effects. The constant deep ache and pain when moving my arm in any way is gone. I am crossing fingers that this lasts for a few months (my understanding is that one shouldn't have more than 3 of these a year).
So the good news is that the black pants I wore yesterday for the funeral were able to be buttoned and zipped and I didn't feel uncomfortable in them. So I likely haven't gained as much as I thought but I still feel fat and really want to get on a better eating track this summer. I also hope I get some of CC's benefits like reduced joint pain by cutting back on carbs. I did make a Bolognese sauce weigh****chers recipe the other night. Of course we put it on fettuccine. I used to eat it on riced cauliflower and enjoyed it just as well.
Today we have someone coming to turn on the sprinkler system and the carpenter is supposed to install the towel rack, grab bar and toilet paper holder in the bathroom. And we need to try to find DH's wallet again. He says he is going to retrace all steps today.
Time to get my second cup of coffee (I am back to 2, but I drink weak Keurig cups at home - when we were traveling on the ship they had espresso-like coffee and 2 cups was too much caffeine for me). Have a thoughtful Thursday!

The tile for my dad's room is being delivered today and they said they "might" be here before 7. Still not here. I was already awake as I had to run around and shut windows as the latest round of controlled burns started yesterday and the smoke was coming in. Nothing like the east coast though. They are getting a big dollop of CA during fire season! Lots of cries of climate change, but Canada has apparently done hardly any forest management (like is happening here now) to placate the eco-people. Add in some arsonists and lightning, and you have massive wildfires. So I complain about the smoke here, but if it prevents what is happening there, I'm all for it.
The scorpion is in the trash. I repeat, the scorpion is in the trash.
Update: the tile is here. The contractor is super chatty! They might do the demo in a week or two.
That?s all I?ve got. Take care all!
Thank goodness for scorpions in the trash vs eating grasshoppers while living in the hand vac!
Update: The wallet has been found! It was at the restaurant where DH last remembered taking it out to use his credit card. The bartender who answered the phone yesterday didn't look for it. When DH went in today (while retracing steps), it was right beside the register at the bar and the bartender (different one) was just about to call the police. Big relief!
Yeah to less achy shoulders, located wallets and dead scorpions!
A nice day with the students. I had a really great crew. Sad day as budget cuts mean saying goodbye to too many awesome co-workers tomorrow.
And goodbye to my team teacher. We have co taught, sometimes up to 3 hours a day, for 10 years. He is retiring. The good news is I will be teaming with another teacher who I like a lot and who will be easy to work with. But I will miss my friend.
So going out tonight with BFF who is back in town (but staying with my SIL right now) and another dear high school friend. There will be an empty chair, for the friend who passed away this spring. The four of us would get together several times a year, sometimes with spouses, sometimes just us. We're meeting at one of the restaurants his son owns. It will be bittersweet.
Wegovy hunt: I believe I have my next doses being delivered next week. I tried the mail order pharmacy run by my healthcare system. They had several of the doses in stock, but not the .5. I'm going to drop back to the .25 while I'm traveling, and then hopefully I can get a .5 again the end of July. I'll worry about that later :)
Is Wegovy like dieting? For me it is. It's a lot like having a sleeve at about 6 months out. You could eat junk, and you might even want to, but the sleeve gives you enough assist to say no. And I'm much more conscious of food choice, because, if I'm going to eat less, I'll never get enough protein unless I'm deliberate. I am actually hungry quite often, but there are 2 differences: I can weirdly ignore it, its like wow, I'm hungry, but its not time to eat yet, so I won't. This is a completely new thing to me. And the second is my capacity is back to being a newish sleeve, I get full faster than I have in the last few years.
I haven't tested how much I could actually eat, because I don't want to get sick. As soon as I feel full in any way, I stop. I don't have to work too hard to do that, the Wegovy seems to work on the reward center, and once the hunger is satiated, the urge to eat diminishes. They use Wegovy to help people with alcohol addiction. I find this very interesting!!!
I'm tolerating it well. I really do think that's the sleeve training. I'm careful about what I eat (memories of what didn't work well with a newish sleeve), I eat slower, I chew a lot before I swallow, I take Omeprazole in the morning and evening per my WLS doctor (which was something my sleeve no longer needed) and I've upped my water.
Since I couldn't lose, even with Weigh****chers and tracking, and a program called Omada etc, I am ecstatic that Wegovy helps me make the choices I need to drop my calories low enough to actually lose. I just couldn't sustain that in my new Tomaxofen driven metabolism. But I definitely have to work it, and can't be on auto pilot. The difference is, like my sleeve, the drug makes the possibility of "working it" a reality.
I am so glad it is working for you. Perhaps it does what "willpower" for us with different genetics or systems challenged by other chemicals can't do (help us to self-moderate)? In other words something chemically in our brain/body changes.
Good Morning All,
Popping in after I have just finished cleaning to office. Had another cuppa as Im super tired. I was up late working on my costume for my grandsons school fundraiser. Its a 90-'s themed Trivia night and our table is going as the Wiggles...... Im The Big Red Car - the things I sign myself up for. I will post some pics on TT - Im about 2/3 of the way thru. Needs some more paint and I will then finish cutting out the body. I will wear it with black underneath. Should be fun. I can step out of it to sit during the trivia part.
I then had to get back up at 12.45am so I could watch a live stream in Scotland of a close family friends funeral. I was back in bed by 2am but sleep took a while to come. Back up at 5.45am. Busy day then DH is collecting the boys from care and school. We are taking them up to the farm. My DSD and her partner will get there around 11pm. My DSS and his partner mid morning tommorrow then my DS and his partner around 11pm tomm night. So it will be a full shed/house. No rest this weekend thats for sure!
Liz - so glad that Mike found his wallet - thats an awful feeling.
Cec - Hope you get good news re Claudia and your Dad. Glad the scorpion has left the building
DD- So glad the injections are working. Im still mulling over Keto. Waiting to see if DH flys to Germany next Friday. I just dont have the extra energy at present to start. Queue EXCUSES
Love to all who follow. I had best keep going. I dare not sit still for too long today I might drop off
Have a wonderful weekend. We have a holiday on Monday so that will be nice. There is vacinating cattle/calves. drenching and making a bull calf a steer on our agenda at the farm. Always lots to do
