Winter illness - not fun. My DH and I both need to get on keto or some similar plan too as soon as possible. It is time!
So sorry about your sister. You lost her when she was just a few years older than my DD when she passed. It is the loss of their future that always hurts the most. I feel the sadness that your Mom and you feel
Lovely day here! Spent some time reading on the porch, planted the remaining bedding plants (which means I can go get more! ) DH grilled hamburgers, ate on the deck, got my little fountain going... I'm happy.
Liz, does my Mom have untreated mental illness? Yes, all her life. So, once I can step back again, I tell myself, why would you expect the last years to be lived any differently than the previous?
Peps, I agree kindness, not bluntness, is called for. My Mom talks all the time about how if she could just get a mobility scooter, she could go out on her own. She cannot lift a small laundry basket, how would she get a scooter in or out of a car? I just nod and say non committal things. Let her have her hope...
Ocean Diane, hope you are feeling better in the boob area. DH likes to talk about body parts gone awry...he rates theater seats by how long it takes before his butt, his words: is clinically dead. As in, these seats are terrible, my butt was clinically dead well before intermission. Hope your boob is not "clinically dead".
CC you're leaving for Michigan soon? Low carb/lower carb does a lot to tame cravings. I admire your focus right now! Is the blood sugar monitor still giving you interesting feedback?
Shirl, so good to hear from you, hope your hubby is better soon.
Liz, so much understanding about the place you find yourself right now. Temptation everywhere, you're having fun, entertaining, appetite and capacity increases...none of this is easy.
You are so lucky that you have been able to build a life that sustains you enough to see your Mom realistically and to help her where you can. DH and you are good people!
