Believe it or not most unpacking is done except for the kitchen. We had to stop in the afternoon to run errands and then we were too tired mentally and physically to continue. Especially with kitchen unpacking which cannot be done mindlessly. BTW, I have to use a short ladder to do the kitchen because the cabinets are tall. Reminds me of when we bought our first home and close friends helped us move. The wife who is 6 feet tall started to unpack the kitchen. I thanked her profusely but said I preferred to do it myself. After they left I had to redo it completely (using a ladder) because for my friend the top shelf is as accessible as all other shelves. When one is 5'3", the top shelf is filled with things used rarely and sometimes becomes a mystery shelf LOL.
I was thinking about DD's frustrations in helping her parents which Peps also dealt with to some extent with his Dad in the past. Often older people are adamant about staying independent even though they may not be fully capable of it. It made me think about some of the musing DH and I have about our kids. We definitely feel quite capable of being independent but some things are getting difficult such as mowing lawns and packing/unpacking homes. We wish our kids would help us with things like that but they don't offer and we don't ask. Possibly because we are afraid they will start to think we are losing our abilities? I like to think that we learn from other stubborn, independent people who won't let others help them as they age but I think we are kidding ourselves. We don't want our kids to think we need help though we do. What a conundrum!
Anyway, my one coffee is done (I would dearly love a second one). We might take a walk this morning for the first time since we arrived. It would be so nice to feel back on a routine again.
Have a phenomenal Friday!

I don't think kids like to think of their parents as needing more help as they get older. It's scary. It's generally when we are confronted with reality that it sinks in they may need us more. I do wonder what I will do when I reach that stage with no one to know I need more help!
Lunch with my realtor friend was nice yesterday, but I was cranky toward the end of the day and just got into bed really early. I must have needed it as I slept until fairly late for me (these days).
Despite lunch out, the scale was down .2 today. Maybe some dehydration happening from going to bed so early. I chose a kale salad with caesar dressing, bacon, chicken, cheese, avocado and left off the shoestring potato topping, which I'm sure would have been delicious.
Today I have a hair appointment, but that's it. Hope you all have a nice day!
