Day 3 of the move. 5% done Monday (in the car), another 75% yesterday (in the truck). Hopefully we are done after today. The property manager/realtor arranged for a painter to do touch-ups in the old place, a housekeeper will clean tomorrow, and it will be listed on Friday. Cross your fingers!

Last night we were exhausted. All my joints and muscles ached and Mike was having spasms in his arm. Eight years ago when I did my last major move I said I would never do it without a mover but somehow DH (Mike) convinced me that we didn't need one because we only had 4 heavy items (cedar blanket chest, large coffee table, gate-leg table and grill). But there were LOTS of boxes. I was already tired from packing the boxes before we had to load and unload the truck. Luckily not much is left - just some stuff in the garage, decorative accessories too large to pack, and a bunch of boxes for Habitat. I do have to say it was nice to have a functional DH to work with. My deceased DH was unable to help last time. He would just sit and look at a closet or a bookshelf no matter how much instruction he received.

Even with all the body aches, I woke up feeling well - the bed is really comfortable.

Obviously no snacking has been in the mix (no time), but dinners been less than stellar this week. We had pizza last night though I was happy to only have 2 small slices. I need to get motivated like several of the rest of you! Maybe I am wrong to wait until after our last trip of the season, but I just feel like I would fail if I started before and then it would take even longer to get restarted.

BTW, did you know that woodpeckers make a huge amount of noise when they peck on gutters??? One just scared the heck out of me. My house on Cape Cod needs some wood siding repaired due to a woodpecker making a fist sized hole. They may be pretty but boy are they destructive!

Time to get ready for what is hopefully the last day of moving. Have a wonderful Wednesday!

I lost a huge post yesterday and don't have the initiative to recreate it ! After five months in the new home, I am finally down to tweaking ! The furnishings, rugs, art etc. are all what I want and where I want it. When I see minor adjustments I try to do them in real time. I have a small table in my office I "allow" piles on, as well as a chair in my bedroom where some clothing finds short term storage.

Yesterday I did a big clean of my screened porch, whi*****luded three sets of pollen filled sheers. I vacuumed every surface (laundered the sheers). When I was done, I took my vacuum apart to clean out the pollen, dog hair and dust that had built up in the cannister once totally emptied. Why is is so easy to remove a few screws here and there when cleaning, then so challenging to put all of the parts back together when dry ?

Sadie and I have been invited to a doggy birthday party this afternoon. We'll do a long walk this sunny morning. The weekend is supposed to be torrential rain and rough seas.

LOL I am just like you in it taking time to get things in a location where they work best, then minor tweaking.

Pretty good sleep last night! There is a small fire a few miles up a canyon from my house and during the day you see the smoke, but can't smell it, but at night the smoke lays down and slides down to our houses. It's all the stink of a campfire in the middle of the living room with none of the s'mores. So I haven't been able to sleep with the sliders open to cool things off. Last night I turned the a/c on in my room. Heaven. I think they are jus****ching it and letting it burn slowly as it's not threatening any structures and is pretty remote (lightning started it).

Another fairly lazy day yesterday, but with a walk and cleaning of the outside kitchen. The red dust around here is astounding. I think a good bit is because of the house next door under construction. Today I need to clean the house as my bff is finally coming to Sedona tomorrow and should be here by 9am. I also have PT midday.

The scale dropped another 0.8 this morning. 1.6 left to resume my previous progress.

Bat update: those ultrasonic boxes are working! The sound they put out isn't entirely pleasant for humans either, but no bats makes it worth it! I got them at Ace Hardware for around $40.

Okay, enough stalling... Need to get cleaning.

Take care all!

Hi all. Everyone working so hard to get their place orderly. I'm living in shabby chic land! My office was just so for a long time; it was my sanctuary. Its a mess right now, but I will get it back in order when summer break starts.

I remember my house 36 years ago when everything was crisp and new. Now I look at the outlets and think would it be crazy to switch them out because they've yellowed? Probably not, but there are other more pressing chores.

I organized a happy hour for my department, and it went well. Pleasant evening. Thank heavens, because everything at school was getting on my very last nerve today. I think its just the repetition of the same, same ... Things I could normally be patient with, but wear you down the 1000th time. I hope I'm more together tomorrow.

This weekend we're going to my parents house and hope to do some cleaning and sorting. They're drowning in stuff, and just can't keep up. My goal is to get one room in order. It doesn't sound like much, but it is actually ambitious. Not really looking forward to it, but it will feel good to know they have at least one room to sit in that's not piled high with junk.

If this helps on the outlet front, when I had one go out in my last house, the electrician said they have a lifespan of about 20 years. And then there's the yellowing. Maybe a good honey do project?
