We are back in Florida! We stayed for either the last night or next to last night in Mike's place. Boy did we sleep soundly after the train ride. I will miss this bed. I hope the new one is just as comfortable - it is actually newer. It will be best to start staying there quickly as we don't want to unpack any of the stuff already packed for the household. We just have bare bones essentials here now.
We sign papers at 10 and are picking up the keys and more boxes from the former owners following that. I bought champagne yesterday afternoon and have champagne glasses ready to bring over. The first thing I want to do is assess whether the small number of furnishings I want to bring will fit properly. I think so as I feel the master bedroom and living room are a bit under-furnished. I am bringing a tape measure and floor tape in case I need to measure and mark space.
We had dinner with the former owner last night at the clubhouse (his wife couldn't come as she was with her mother at the hospital). Interesting to hear how they were doing with the new place. It is around the corner from ours but much larger. Their new place is 50% bigger than the one we are buying and has 1 more bathroom but that is much bigger than we would ever want. They have had a tough time finding new furniture (the wife had wanted to get new stuff and we were happy to buy it furnished). He said it had gotten to the point where they have returned to previously visited stores and bought what they originally thought was overpriced because they were tired of looking. Apparently some of the salespeople remembered their name after a while LOL. They are having the countertop in the kitchen replaced by granite and 2 bathrooms completely redone, as well as the lanai enclosed. And the husband misses the old kitchen which is very bright LOL. I am SO GLAD we don't have to do any major changes. Maybe some paint and ceiling light changes but nothing else seems to be needed at this point. Except I have already purchased about $500 in bedding because the new place has king size beds and we formerly had queen. I forgot how much stuff one needs to outfit a bed!
Time to get my act together. I just finished my one cup of coffee. I cut back to one over our travels as I felt it gave me intestinal distress. I think the coffee on the ship was way stronger than I am used to which might have been part of it but now I am on a one cup routine. I don't want to lie - I miss that second cup in many ways including keeping me company while I read the news in the morning.
Have a morale boosting Monday!
We closed and were at the new place by 11. Mike is amazed by how much room we have (he imagined is smaller).
Time to get packing material, move small stuff, then pack!

Your new place sounds great!
My sleep continues to be thwarted. The landscapers were here weeding at 6. But it really needed it! They are also digging for 4 extra trees. That's 15 new trees all together. 2.6 flat acres just swallows up trees.
I made a quick stop at the grocery store for things to eat. My weight went up 4.2 pounds! Guess the low carb was keeping water weight down. One night of eating carbs did some damage.
Bat update. I bought the ultrasonic bat devices the painter recommended and knock on wood, they seem to be working. A few droppings (versus piles) and a few of their favorite moth's wings means they are hanging there briefly to eat, but not staying. A win in my book.
Have a good day!
Liz, the pictures you posted on FB, well, are amazing! So much brighter than your other unit, and the water view is wonderful. I bet you two will be very happy there. (Also, I'm pro King Bed).
CC, I think we have a bat hanging (haha) out on our porch now. There's droppings in the corner, and the other night something flew away when we went on the porch late. But I'm confused, because no bat is living there in the day, or we would definitely see it, it's not a high porch roof. So it must come around in the evening after it wakes up and eats?
The Botcelli concert was outstanding, even if the venue was suspect. It was fun, lots of people dressed up, even a few men in tuxes. We go to a lot of theater, some opera etc and we're very satisfied by what we hear/see. But oh my gosh, to listen to performers, who are some of the best of the best in the world, was mind blowing.
Tonight, a gathering at the home of DH's BFF, so he and his family can see our DD before she returns to Boston. How's that for acronyms?
Acronyms are initials that create words, rather than initials that we say letter by letter, e.g. BFF, OMG, PDQ, etc..., which you now know are initialisms.
An example of an acronym is NASA for National Aeronautics and Space Administration or OPEC for Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries or SARS for Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome
Make sense?
Greetings all
It's a lovely Monday. Can't believe I am saying that but I guess it's because I have been retired a long time. I like Mondays now because it's kiln open day plus certain tv shows.
Liz that new place is awesome. Love the light and view. You are gonna love it. What does Justice think? Hope the packing is not too hard. Moving is one way to abandon furniture you don't want anymore. Enjoy.
DD that concert sounds wonderful. and people dressed up!! So nice.
So I made some fried rice from shrimp last night. Pretty good. I so wish there was one carb thing I could eat without weight issues. I guess it could be wild rice but that would get old.
Stopped in the studio for the kiln opening. I had about 6 things, some of which I had forgotten about. All came out.
So far I have not killed the sweet peas. I would not say they are thriving but they are not dead.
More fried rice with japanese bbq sauce which is kind of glorified soy sauce. Good though.
Peps hope your dad is improving.
We started a series last night "The last thing he told me". Pretty good mystery. More tonight.
Not much new. Cheers all. Diane S
