Hello from Washington DC! We had a decent drive here yesterday. Google Maps brought us into the city on back streets avoiding the Baltimore area and approaching through Annapolis. Lots of lights to stop at, but much more pleasant than cut-throat stop and go on a highway.
We had a nice dinner with Mike's DS (tapas which Mike didn't love but I did). DS told us about the girlfriend who he apparently dated 6 years ago when she was just finding herself, then reconnecting a few months ago now that she is running her own business. Very nice to hear that he is happy.
We go to the Auto Train mid-day after we check out. It should be an interesting experience. In the meantime we are going to take a walk around the area. We are in Capital Hill near the Navy Yard/Ballpark. This area went through a revival and is very nicely laid out with lots of restaurants, etc.
Time to get cleaned up. Have a smart Saturday!
We did a family trip to DC about 9 years ago. Loved it. There's a lot to choose from, and I love that all the Smithsonians are free.
Beautiful day here. DH and I went out to our favorite coffee shop in St. Paul, one of the few places with clotted cream. I ate half a scone, and drank two pots of tea. I'll have a protein shake later to up the protein consumption. I'm drinking the Fair life Caramel with a shot of espresso, on ice. Tastes like an iced latte. I can drink the shakes as is, but I like them better with a little something extra. Sometimes I blend the chocolate ones with ice and half a banana. Pretty tasty!
Time to go get some bedding plants into the ground!
I love the Fair Life Caramel but I can only get it via Amazon.
We really enjoyed our short visit - we might come for longer during the next 9 months while DSS is here.

My first day I could sleep in and my bod was still on painter time and woke me up at 5:30. Nice that I didn't have to get out of it though.
Just finished a walk and then breakfast. The scale jumped up this morning. I think it was probably snacking. They were keto friendly, but snacking is snacking.
My plan is to loaf around for a bit, pack my overnight bag, then head south for the party.
Hope everyone has a super day and may your martinis be shaken and not stirred!
Photo of you and the Bond ensemble, please !

I went to bed early (for me) and slept late! Nice combination - especially since it is a dog show weekend. Blitz has done well so far today... Best of Breed and an Owner Handled Group 1. We are waiting for Best in Show....
Dad's doctor's appointment went well yesterday. The latest x-ray shows some healing and shows that the hip replacement done in 2015 is remaining stable after slipping. Both of these indicate that dad can avoid surgery for another 4 weeks. If the x-ray shows continued healing in 4 weeks then no surgery. If healing is too slow or unchanged, then he will have to have surgery to repair the break and have a partial hip replacement. Really hoping that won't need to happen.
Dad is more himself and actually remembered yesterday how he broke his leg. Yet, he still thinks each PT session is his first one ever. ...baby steps to recovery.
Hope everyone enjoys the weekend whether on a train, planting flowers, or wearing little black skirts at a party.....
Good news about your Dad potentially avoiding surgery and rebounding on his mental state! Also about Blitz. You must be so proud.
Greetings all
More overcast. Works for me since I don't yet have a t shirt wardrobe for this year. Not that I ever wear them out. Just change size.
Peps so glad for your Dad's progress. And glad no surgery warranted any time soon. And glad you are at a show. Fingers crossed.
Liz I am so intrigued by auto train. Must google it.
CC looking forward to hearing about the Bond party. Enjoy.
We watched a series on Netflix called Queen. 4 part story of a drag queen man *****discovers long lost family. Pretty good.
Drugstore visit and I got up the courage to get my second shingles shot. All done. They give you a form to ask whether you have had any of about 25 medical conditions. I answered no to all except the question that said "are you pregnant or planning on getting pregnant" I wrote Hell No. That was a joke I played on the pharmacist to see if she read the form. No, but we had a good laugh. I am sure grateful for this new independent pharmacy as our CVS has totally gone to hell.
Stopped by the studio and made some owls. Hoping the gallery business picks up soon.
Cheers. Diane S
Validation is so exciting !!!
