Mother's Day. May 14, 2023

Happy Mother's Day to the mamas in our group!
I finally had a day to sleep in and it was glorious as my aunt would say. Tomorrow the painters are coming at 6:30 and I have to get my car out of the garage so that will not be a sleep in day.
The scale was down a pound today, which was a nice surprise, so 11 altogether. It was probably the 4.1 mile hike yesterday which was fun, she was nice. It's a little warm and humid this week with the monsoon showing up early. We had thunderstorms yesterday afternoon, but didn't get more than a few drops at my house. It still was pretty to see in the sky.
I think I need to do some cleaning today and tidying up. One thing I need to figure out this week is what I'm going to wear to a fancy party at my friends house down in Paradise Valley. It's a James Bond theme and they are going all out. But I don't have anything in my closet that fits. I am definitely procrastinating, especially given that it's hard for me to find clothes that fit with all my weird issues of being overweight, a much larger upper half than lower, my height, long torso, long arms, fat upper arms... and shopping means going to Phoenix as there's nothing up here and shipping is slow to the boondocks. Sigh.
anyway, I think that's all that's happening here. I might go take a walk before it gets much hotter. Take care everyone and have a lovely day!
I hope you can find something that makes you feel awesome! Post Covid shopping has been challenging, last fall I shopped and shopped for a dress for a wedding, and the pickings were slim. I feel like this spring, things have improved, more things to choose from. Happy hunting! And yeah to sleeping in! One of life's great pleasures.
We are not Opera diehards. We have friends who have season tickets to the Opera season, and we have attended a few different Operas with them when their parents couldn't go, and gave us their tickets. We loved some, liked some, and disliked some. We've settled on going to the spring production every year, because it is always one of the big names, Carmen, LaBoheme, La Traviata, all of which we've enjoyed. Last night Don Giovanni was fantastic! All three hours! (Including the intermission).
This morning we picked up DD from the airport at 8:30am, and went out to breakfast. I had a slice of bacon, and 3 bites of pancake. Full. I enjoyed what I ate very much, so all was well.
CC you had mentioned how low carb gives many of the same outcomes as Wegovy. One time in my life, I successfully low carbed and lost 55 pounds. Besides surgery, that was my best outcome in "dieting". I remember being surprised that I got involved in projects and forgot to eat lunch. I cannot seem to recreate that low carb magic, even with a sleeve, but it was awesome when I was working it. I'm wondering if people *****spond best to low carb, or drugs like Wegovy (but are not diabetic) have a lot of insulin resistance, or some problem with insulin. That might account for why some people thrive on this medication, and others feel so awful.
Greetings all
It's a bright sunny day here. I have switched from flannel night gowns to sleep t shirts so that means it's summer or nearly so. I planted the sweet peas I had and stopped at the nursery for more. Also pansies. Boy did they perfume the car wonderfully. Nice little nursery in a nearby town. The big one near us is always packed and it takes forever to get in and out of there. At this point in life I put a high value on convenience. And ditto sleep. One of my favorite things.
Made steak in the new pan last night and it was great. Tonight it's going to be a sort of tuscan spinach chicken using a deli pre cooked chicken breast.
Hmm, what to wear to a James Bond party CC? You could always dress as a spy in a rain coat, big had and sunglasses but that might not be fun. Maybe a black Dianna Rigg type outfit. Not sure I would want to dress up like a "Bond Girl". Tell us what you find.
I stopped in the studio for awhile and made a few new things. Definitely in need of inspiration.
We have been watching a series called "Beef". Starts with two strangers who have a road rage incident and their lives get complicated when they seek revenge. Weird. I might have mentioned we watched the Cleopatra mini series the other night. Interesting.
Glad the opera was good DD. Good to hear of ventures into theaters and such these days.
Safe travels Liz.
Over and Out. Diane S
Good luck finding something for the James Bond party - it can be hard enough to find something for any party!
We are waiting for the last flight of our "Epic Honeymoon" (I may do a picture book with that title LOL). We left the hotel in Maui at 9 am, flew from Maui to Honolulu, and are now waiting for our flight to Boston which leaves in 45 minutes at 3 pm. All was relatively smooth except no one could check in for the flights today because of a new Hawaiian Airlines reservation system so the lines seemed endless. Luckily someone came over to help people like us trying to use the kiosks and we didn't have too long a delay. The security lines were empty probably because everyone was stuck in ticketing/bag drop. If all goes well we will be in Boston at just about 7 their time (in about 10.75 hours). I hope we sleep some.
Maybe I will post early tomorrow morning! Happy Mother's Day!!
