Late start here today!

I was out of the house early for a dental cleaning. Always nice to have that done and out of the way. Yesterday I had PT and I am sore today. I am like Goldilocks with my pillows and can't find one I can sleep on all night comfortably. So lots of waking up to switch pillows because it hurts. Between pillows, my lingering neck injury and PT to fix it, my neck is tired today.

On the glucose monitor front, it's becoming clear I'm pre-diabetic. Awful to confront, but every morning waking up fasted, my glucose is over 100 (103-107). Anything from 100 to 125 is pre and over 125 is diabetic. And that's with eating hardly any carbs. Good that I am refocused on losing the weight and eating way less carbs. The other two facets to getting out of pre-diabetes range are exercise (I walked the 2.2 miles again yesterday. Need to do that every day) and sleep, which is crappy right now because of my neck and the extra weight means I snore more and wouldn't be surprised if I had some sleep apnea. I guess it's not just ill-fitting clothes. Facing reality is painful!

I lost another .6, so that's 9 all together in two weeks. My BMI is overweight, but no longer in the obese range. 32.4 pound to normal. That doesn't feel so terrible a job left to do.

You know what else spikes your blood glucose? Raspberries after dinner. They suggest that if I am going to have carbs to have them earlier in the day so my body has a chance to burn them off. Eating sugar before bed, it just sits in your system and makes blood sugar spikey through the night. It even warns you that you are spiking and to go for a walk in the next 10 minutes to mediate the spike. Interesting.

On that note, I think a walk now is a good idea as I just had a big salad for lunch.

Take care my friends!

Wow! That monitor is providing so much feedback! It is good as you point out, to be getting this information now. So next data points, if you couple carbs (like the raspberries) with a fat or protein, does it minimize the spike?

Last night DH and I had a little bonfire, on the 2 day streak of sun. Because its going to rain again!

Yesterday I was really dragging. Today is better, so I'm going to go workout.

Today's eating: omg, donuts for teacher appreciation. I took one (habit), took a few bites, thought, that's enough, and threw the rest away (victory). Other than that, a Chobani yogurt, 1/2 of a quarter pound cheeseburger. Right now I'm having a Fair life protein drink, and then we will have bacon and eggs.

I took the Wegovy on Thursday. The appetite suppression is fading a little, but I can still feel some effect. More data to come, as I get ready for my 2nd dose.

My raspberries had a tablespoon of heavy cream on them. So either it would have been worse without it or it didn't help...?

Greetings all

The sun is out and I even got DH to pull grasses out of the planters so i can do the sweet peas. Yay. And I did scrabble winning one and losing two. Last game was a total bust. Then I got an Asian sub which is my new fixation but I can only eat about 1/4 at once.

Hmmm CC you are sure getting lots of information from the monitor. did your doctor tell you to do that? I did not realize what the range. was. Who knew what raspberries would do? And it's interesting what the walk did.

I really must find some easy meals that are low carb. Unfortunately, carbs = convenience at least for me.

DD sounds like you are doing well on the protein front.

Not much else. I feel like a nap. Diane S

She didn't. It's been a while since my last general checkup and blood test. It's time.

I was doing it because I saw that some companies were cropping up to provide them to people interested in controlling their blood sugar who weren't diabetic. They are the same brands (Dexcom, Free Libre, etc) that are prescribed to diabetics to keep them from having to do all the finger stick testing and a doctor's prescription is part of the program.

I thought I could learn a few things, but didn't think I had a blood sugar problem. Fortuitous, I guess.

Wow - great insight! I bet as you lose more it will get in a better range. I think possibly we all hover there and maybe that's why drugs like Wegovy work?

That's a good thought! I was thinking it would be good to go see my doctor and see if something like Metformin would make sense since I think Wegovy etc are probably not good for me? Or do I just keep up with lifestyle changes and wait for it to lower on it's own?

It might be worth discussing with your doctor to get his/her opinion?
