Happy Earth Day! It is a balmy 32 degrees here, overcast, windy, with an overnight dusting of snow. Argh.

Happy hour was a delightful respite, and we had the quiet evening I was hoping for.

Today is the first Saturday in over a month we don't have any specific plans or obligations. I'm enjoying my chai tea, watching a local news show, under my covers. The furnace is running, it was 65 in the house when I got up. I'm more of a 72 degrees kind of gal.

Tomorrow we are driving out to my hometown to attend a program at the high school. Dear friend's father is being inducted into the Fine Arts Hall of Fame. He was our long time band teacher/director.

DH reports the Wegovy is working fine. His is a once a week injection. He said that appetite suppression starts to get weaker as the weak goes on. He's curious to see what the increased dose will bring. Each week the dose increases.

I can't get over how cold it still is there, DD! It's going to be 77 here, but apparently mostly cloudy (it isn't yet).

Despite having been nudged into it by my neighbor, we had such a nice time last evening! She brought pizza and salad. I had the beverages covered. Really nice conversation. I should have people over more often...

Well, the bats were unimpressed by the peppermint spray and made a mess all over the porch again. Argh. I think I will need to call Dave the Bat Guy who put up netting at my two neighbor's houses. But I think after it's painted next month. The ladies also said the paint over their scent can keep them from coming back.

I have no plans today and a more energy than I had with the cold, so perhaps it's a day to do something else on my list...

Take care all!

The bats that hung out in my umbrella were there for the first few years but then mysteriously disappeared. Must have found another place to hang out? ;)

Entertaining also makes me feel like that, after its done, I think that was fun, we should do this more often! But I don't like getting the house company clean. I really need to find some kind of cleaning service.

Well darn it, sorry the peppermint spray didn't work.

I am a 72 degree person too - when it is cold, I change the temperature on the Nest thermostat from my phone while still in bed and wait until it warms up a bit (I also have it preset based on the time we usually get up). I swapped back the old manual one in Florida before we left so I can install it in our new place. I have one on Cape Cod too.

Nice that Wegovy is working so well for DH. I expect he will have to stay on it indefinitely? I hope someday to have reasonably cost effective access to it.

Today we are in Fakarova in the Tuamoda islands (spelling?). We go on the e-bikes in a couple of hours. I have to admit that I am a bit nervous. Last week a woman fell off hers and ended up with bruised ribs, stitches over her eye, and a scraped up arm. When we got to Papeete she had to go to the hospital for a CT scan. But I will be careful!

I shall report back. Have a super Saturday!

Yes Liz, stay safe on your bike! I suspect due to all your daily walking and other activities that your fitness level is better than a lot of cruisers, and you will do awesome on the bikes.

Greetings all

Another slow but sunny day. We ended up watching the spring game for our Huskers football team. New coach (again). They have been through half a dozen in the last 15 years - each worse than the last. And they made a big deal of honoring a past coach - one that they previously fired for having a 9-3 season! Last good coach there was. I would have told them to stuff it. But its fun to check back on our midwestern roots.

DD glad you have a sleep in day with no plans. I used to love those days. Now it's every day and its about as good as you can imagine. Interesting about Wegovy. We want to hear more.

CC yeah I bet it takes painting to get rid of the bats. Wish there was a way to explain to them they are welcome but just a little ways away. Glad your dinner went well. Hope you cold gets lost soon.

Lunch today was 1/4 of a reuben sandwich DH brought home. That was quite enough.

So I am continuing to help my friend whose husband died suddenly. They had booked a huge cruise and purchased cancelation insurance but the cruise line and insurance company are giving her the run around. I think they will eventually pay but they are being jerks. Anyway I am doing what I can. There may be a complaint to the insurance dept. We shall see.

Birthday party next week at this one really fancy club locally. I have only been there once before. I am hyperventilating about what to wear since I only have sweats and can't stand the thought of shopping. I might drag out this one long dress I got for my own high school reunion a few years ago. Only worn once. Google The Ingemar Club in Eureka. Looks like the Adams family house.

Not much else. I think I will wander to the studio. Costco casserole tonight. Diane S

It wouldn't be Aon that is giving her the run around would it? My friend bought insurance for a trip from them and needed to cancel. The hoops they sent her through were outrageous. Doctor's letter, better doctor's letter, documentation request for things they'd already asked her for that she sent, etc... They were awful and it took 5 months for her to get her money back. And it was only a down payment, not the full trip cost.
