Liz, how do you start this every day, this is exhausting.

Day 6 of the cold. I'm getting a little better, but I sound worse. I have high hopes for tomorrow.

So I have a bat issue! They seem to like hanging out by my front door Under the entryway. I hosed off all of their guano yesterday and left the lights on all night since I read that might deter them. And today I have this!

There are at Least four, maybe five up there. Ew. I am very pro-bat, just not in my entryway.

Aside from that, I don't really have anything to report. I hope everyone is doing well! Take care all...

Bats are annoying but are actually useful creatures. They used to hang inside my deck umbrella which meant guano on my table - yuck!

I spoke on the phone with my son yesterday. Justice has been peeing on the wall so he is obviously having a hard time with the transition. And DS got 2 estimates to replace some siding on my house where woodpeckers have damaged it. LOTS of money and a long lead time because the cedar siding used on Cape Cod homes had been difficult and expensive since COVID. Just what I need when we have a home purchase coming up in a month. I thought the roof last year would be the last major repair for a while but no such luck! Home ownership is a challenge!

We had a great snorkel yesterday and are waiting to go again today. I wish we didn't have to go so early (8 am). Last night we had a dinner and show on a private island. Fabulous! Most people are leaving the ship tomorrow but we have another 11 days.

I wasn't sure my last post would make it as I pressed submit as we were walking down the hall to the tender!

Snorkeling today was amazing - so many more fish than yesterday. It felt like being in a gigantic fish tank.

Justice is with a Rover.com person at her home for the next couple of days and I already got 2 videos of him romping with another small dog. Hopefully that will make him happy and the additional exercise will calm him. I am feeling mother's guilt for leaving him.

Eating yesterday and today has been more careful than prior days. I need to keep in mind that there is no need to feast all the time.

Have a winning Wednesday!

Greetings all

Bats! Do cats eat bats? Do bats eat cats? CC I would not want the bats under my eaves but would be fine with bats around somewhere. Could you put up a bat house? maybe they would go there. I understand they hate mint smell. I think there are sonic bat deter devices. Always something. They are kind of cute but the poo is unacceptable.

Snorkeling sounds great Liz. Do more. All you can. We once saw this one weird fish that looked like it had red lipstick on. We called it the Estee Lauder fish. Enjoy.

Visit to the eye doctor today. New glasses needed - not a huge change but why not see as well as I can. Fairly plain frames for me - not the ones that look like high school guidance counselor!!! Home now minus $900.

Sun is out here and it's wonderful. Smoked sausage for dinner tonight. House is clean (ish) and all is well.

We added a bat house in MI and no bat has ever gone in there. Someone on Next Door said they tried and theirs has never been used either. So I wonder if bat houses are a housing choice bats are willing to make?

I think we can all be pro bat, but anti bat on the front porch. So many unexpected things in Arizona!

You're right Liz, homeownership is a big challenge sometimes. And the expensive repairs/improvements are necessary, but not that satisfying. A new deck, Yes!! A new furnace? Not sexy.

New prescription always makes me happy, once I get past the sticker shock of new glasses. Its literally seeing the world through new eyes when you slip them on. I so vividly remember my first pair of glasses in 6th grade. I thought everyone saw grass and trees as big smears of green. Suddenly I could see individual blades of grass, and each separate leaf. What a trippy day!!

Weather is terrible. The mood at work is tough. They still haven't put out the staffing for next year. It typically is posted around March 15. Other districts are interviewing and hiring. People who aren't sure if they will still have a job next year can't wait any longer, and are signing contracts. We already lost a great guy in our department this way. First it looked like he was going to be cut, now it looks like probably not. He couldn't risk it, he has signed with another district. By the time we get to hiring, all the teachers looking for jobs will have one.

Had a tough food day today. I was so hungry. Its like my body can't access my fat stores again. I read that Tamoxifen can increase insulin resistance, which is why it has weight gain, and difficulty losing weight as charming side effects. Oh, and blood clots. If I get cancer again, I'm going to be pissed I took this medication. Obviously, if it prevents cancer, it's worth it. Well like my PCP said, I don't have any patients who don't know they are on this med.

DH is doing pretty good with the Wegovy. He said he's feeling full longer and sooner. Some slight nausea. He says he could definitely see how overeating would make him feel sick, so that's an additional motivation to limit portions.

I also got my first glasses in 6th grade with the same amazing result. I could see!

Lucky DH that he can have Wegovy. I can't justify over $1000 a month to pay for it without insurance covering it.

You are so right! So many unexpected things in AZ!

Your school situation sounds incredibly stressful. What a mess they have created unnecessarily...
