I had a fabulous time in Vancouver with my daughter and son-in-law, but this is my heart home for sure !! They had exciting news... permanent residency, they purchased a condo, and my son-in-law was offered a three book deal, as a first time author !! I won't even go into my flight debacles... the flights out and back took two days each and required unanticipated overnight stays. I'm happy to share my mojo with them ! I'm out and back safely, that's all that really matters.

Two days each way traveling sounds dreadful! Glad you're home safe now!

I got the date wrong for my friend coming. I thought it was Friday but it's tomorrow. I wi**** had been Friday because my cold is not a good one and I think I need to be the canceller this time. I'm so bummed!! I was really looking forward to seeing him and showing him Sedona. He's never been. Waaaah! I will call and give him the choice, but he's a germaphobe so I think I know what the answer will be. I wouldn't want to catch it either...

I did get good news on my taxes yesterday. Normally I don't get excited about refunds because it just means you overpaid and gave the government a free loan, but when you are girding your loins to cough up more and you get told you're instead getting a lot of money back, it's kind of thrilling. I owe my financial advisor a big thank you for his advice to get my taxes down this year given the house sale capital gains.

An oriole just landed on my hummingbird feeder! We never got cool colored birds in Southern CA other than the wild parrots, but they are primarily green...

Update: I reported my cold to my friend and he immediately cancelled. Ha. I understand. I don't want it either. We'll reschedule yet again!

Foodwise, there isn't much here to get me into trouble, I wouldn't take my germs to the market, and the cold is diminishing my appetite. So that's good. No walks though as I would need to carry a box of kleenex with me and a trash bag...

Take care everyone and have a great day!

So sorry you don't feel well and your friend cancelled. Eventually your stars will align and you will both be healthy and ready to your Sedona. Such a magical place!

Sounds like a wonderful Vancouver trip! I really liked that city when I visited there briefly 10 years ago. Too bad your travel was so difficult. I guess Mike and I have been pretty lucky with most of our travels especially the 2 flights we took to get here. We arrived a day before our cruise just to make sure we made it on time and each flight actually landed early.

I will try to put some pictures up on FB (this darn internet is so slow/unreliable). We enjoyed Ra'i?tea yesterday. We tried to walk around the town next to the port in the morning but it was stinking hot - I had sweat dripping down my face. So I was a little apprehensive about how hot it would be kayaking but it was very comfortable! Beautiful paddle and our guide told us all about the trees and flowers along the way. There were only 6 of us in addition to the guide which was perfect. It did reinforce my feelings about double kayaks though. I don't like them especially when my partner likes to control as much as I do. LOL. Last night there was a BBQ on the pool deck with music and dancing. Lots of fun - we sat with a couple from Wyoming who we have spend some time with. Mike is reading a book by CJ Box and it turns out that the husband is friends with the author as they worked together as Game Wardens prior to retirement.

Today we are going to a private Motu (island) near Taha'a. We can swim, snorkel, kayak, etc. and there is a BBQ set up by the ship there. We are looking forward to it. Tonight there are Salsa dancing lessons and Mike says he will go which amazes me as he generally doesn't like to dance. Tomorrow we will be in Bora Bora and are taking a 4 wheel drive jeep tour.

Have a sunny Sunday!

OMG, I feel lucky to be home in one piece. The weather turned nasty on the way home. Snow was predicted, but we ended up on sections of highway with total white out from the blowing snow. Some of the worst weather driving I've experienced in my long life of enduring Minnesota winters. Time for bed, work tomorrow!
