The day trip was fun yesterday, but who knew standing for 3 hours would be so painful! Honestly, I got home and needed a nap, but everything was cramping: my feet, my hip, my back, hands... I think dehydration played a part too. My carpool group was very nice and one woman I thought was particularly interesting and fun. So I'm glad I did it.

Today the interior designer is coming and bringing a contractor to look at the constructiony stuff that needs doing (floors in one room, drywall, new shower, vent in the kitchen). I still need to pick up around the house. I was not in a position to do it last night! The upside is my friend comes tomorrow (believe it when he makes it), so one clean up doing double duty.

I best get to it!

I hope your friend follows through this time!

We are waiting for transportation to the ship in about an hour. I think we actually stay in port or close to it for the first night. Below is the itinerary. The hotel here was beautiful in terms of the surroundings and the room. The staff was very pleasant though service was slow and the food rather over-cooked. Maybe just a difference in US expectations? Supposedly the service and food are top-notch on the ship. It will be nice to stay in one room for the next 2.5 weeks.

Remember that chest congestion I mentioned a couple of days ago? It seemed somehow familiar so I should have figured out what it was sooner. I have a darn sinus infection again (I always get upper chest congestion from post-nasal drip). I used to get them a lot years ago but they subsided for a while. But I had one about 4 months ago and here we go again. I have a slight suspicion that it may be related to the tooth that had to have work a few days ago. Regardless I am taking the antibiotics that the dentist had prescribed in case the tooth became infected. Should work for both...

Time to move along in paradise. Have a thrilling Thursday!

Watersports off the back of the ship, right? I'm so excited to cruise on Wind star in July, but we won't be using the watersports feature in the North Atlantic. Using it the South Pacific sounds beyond wonderful! I read they fit you with a snorkel to use for the duration of the cruise. My snorkel set came from Dicks Sporting Goods, not much of a custom fit. :)

Greetings all

Sun and more sun. DH even mowed some lawn.

Not much going on here and I like it that way. I prepared some tax estimates for us and got them to the post office. I also did the sales tax return for the gallery and paid the tax. Our first quarter sales are down quite a bit. Rain and power loss. Let's hope the tourists come back soon.

Also stopped in at the studio and made a few things. We have a ton of ceramic art books there and someone has decided we need to get rid of some to make space. They have been donated over the years. Some are classics with important technical information so I went through and made sure we kept those. We will sell the rest.

CC 3 hours of standing!! No wonder you were hurting. I don't know how people can do jobs where they stand 8 hours a day. Like hair dressers. At the studio we put down spongy flooring outside where the kilns are because that was concrete. Hope you feel better. Thats the kind of stuff that makes me wish I had a hot tub.

DD thanks for the list of books taught in high school. All good stuff and glad kids are still reading those things. I have not read the Bluest Eye but maybe I will. Sad that Atticus and Scout may be gone soon. I think we read Huckleberry Finn in high school - another book on the bad book list. Have a good rest of the week.

Liz wow what a schedule. Don't you love how a cruise ship sails at night and shows up at a new fun place in the day? Hope there is snorkeling. What a great looking trip.

I got some deli enchiladas for tonight. The health food store deli makes pretty good stuff and they generally are lots of meat. Guess it's what they do with their leftovers.

I was thinking that! How much it would hurt to work retail or doing hair standing all day!

Diane! Have you heard about Murphy the eagle at World Bird Sanctuary? You can look them up on Facebook.

Murphy is a 31 year old male flightless bald eagle who built a nest on the ground and has been incubating a rock all by himself for a while.

Last week they gave Murphy an abandoned eaglet (who fell with his nest and was injured) to see if he would adopt it and he did!! He's protecting it and feeding it.

I agree with Diane, 3 hours of standing is a lot. There are some music venues that are standing only, I just dread going to events there, but have, on occasion because one of my dear friends loves it. The last time we went, I raced in and sat on a half wall that separated a ramp from the main floor. Everyone else chose to stand. Suit yourself, I don't enjoy it. And concerts aren't usually 3 hours, that's a long time!

Diane, good you were there to sort the valuable books from the ones that can go. Purging and decluttering are awesome, but it can go too far.

I didn't enjoy work very much today, too much paperwork, too little students. Students are the best part.

Tomorrow another teacher and I have prep at the same time, and can go to the visitation for the student who passed away this week. The funeral is Saturday, but I will be out of town. Glad I can offer my condolences in person tomorrow.

No services set yet for my friend. The Facebook page for his brewery did have a memorial post (he was the CEO, and owned it with his adult children). Sad to read.

Most of the vacation weight is gone, leaving me a tiny bit less than I was this time last year. Endless attempts at dieting, including drugs, and I managed to lose 3 pounds in one year. I know it's better than gaining. All I can say is don't look to me for weight loss advice, I clearly have not untangled this knotty problem. :)

and I was the youngest there by far. Those are some hearty women who could stand that long! I was wondering if I was the only one hobbled or needing a nap after...
