We are just back from a 4.4 mile walk including a beach run for Justice. He met/sniffed lots of new friends today! And as reported to Peps, he made it down the spiral staircase this morning on his own so he is getting very brave.
We stayed in last night and had leftover jambalaya. Boy that stuff is filling - must be the rice. So not too much overeating.
Today is going to be cloudy so we are going to drive over to Sea Pines/Harbourtown. There is a $9 entry fee but it is supposed to be nice there. We will probably rent bikes tomorrow or Wednesday. Maybe kayaks one day.
Time to get ready for the day. Have a melodious Monday!
Good morning from sunny and hot (climbing to 90) Austin Texas. We had a great time yesterday. A lot of walking, and I did fine, even with a cold. We did a double decker tour bus (was not hop on hop off) and got a great orientation to the city. The weather was awesome, the food was awesome, and we found a Blues bar on what is called dirty 6th. Incredible music!!! Only disappointment, sort of is we were close to the bridge where all the bats fly out at dusk, so we stopped and waited. No bats, or at least no swarm of bats. Consultation prize, we chatted with lots of nice folks, and the skyline of Austin was beautiful.
BIL is picking us up at noon, then we're going to his house. I enjoy hanging out with him in general, but he's hard for me to travel with. He doesn't like listening to music, swimming, nice restaurants (if it has something like shrimp scampi he thinks its too fancy), art museums... We don't have a lot of overlap. He claims he likes the ocean, we've never been there together, and are going to Galveston this week. That could be fun.
More later!
Can't wait to hear about Galveston! I'm glad you are managing with your cold.
BTW, we had lost sight of the fact that this is school vacation wee****il you and Peps mentioned it. VERY busy here in HH probably because of that. But we were able to secure a bike rental after a few calls for tomorrow, though the ones closest to us were booked up for the entire week.

I walked yesterday and ate according to plan. The scale moved up .4. It happens!
Today is another beautiful day, but cooler (yesterday was 70 tomorrow will be 45. Whiplash!). I got the wind event wrong. It's today and tonight, hence the 45 tomorrow. There was a fire last night with a lot of smoke. Apparently I didn't get quite far enough from CA! I thought it was close and worried about the coming wind, but it's down in the valley about 20 minute's drive south. The USFS took over the management of it with the winds coming. Very glowy last night. They always look larger and more impressive in the dark.
Another walk on tap today and I might see about driving GIANT cardboard boxes into town to the recycling drop off. I have recycling bins, but these held couches so they are big and would require carving up to even think about going out with the bin. If I can just drag them from my car though... I also have a non-working tv to discard, but that's down in the next town at the dump transfer station in the other direction.
Handing out good days all around! One for you... one for you...
Apparently I am being punished for more than last week's transgression.
Buster spiked a 104 temp last night and it didn't come down by this morning. I suspected an upper respiratory infection given the symptoms. Off to the doggy ER/urgent care because none of our regular clinics or vets could see him. He's on antibiotics now and should start perking up. Molly seems to be starting on a similar path, so I'm keeping the vet appointment I made for Buster for tomorrow at our regular vet. Hopefully, she won't need it, but better safe than sorry.
Next.... Thought we had a leak in a bathroom waste pipe. NOPE! Just clean standing water in the crawl space. So we'll have to have the water pumped out then wait to see if more water bubbles up from underground or dries out. If no water bubbles up, the issue is rain water so, we'll have to correct the drainage on that side of the house. If it bubbles up from underground that will mean we have a broken main under the house and it will have to be dug up and repaired.
I am feeling a little bit at my wit's end. At the moment, I am feeling a bit "done in".
I have been watching my intake and am happy to see the scale move back down into the very to of my "safe" range. Now, to lose a few more pounds would be very nice. Not sure what I can manage at the moment with my stress level.
It's always something, right?
Greetings Peeps and Peps
The sun is out though somehow it still manages to spit a bit of rain. I drove the 18 miles to Eureka and I think it started and stopped raining about 8 times. Go figure.
Things are terrible in eagle land. The Minnesota nest, that had a healthy chick, fell down from the tree yesterday and the chick died. They think it was all the snow there had been. The nest weighs 2000 pounds! The Redding eagle egg was due to hatch and then disappeared with no explanation. Maybe failed to hatch. The Big Bear eagles are heavily into nesting again so there might be a second clutch. I am way too invested in these eagles!
Liz nice that Justice made it down those stairs. Years ago I had Tesla at a show and we stayed at a motel with those open stairs. I had to carry her up and down. I tried to train her with some treats but no dice. Anyway, sounds like you all had a good beach day. Many years ago our law firm went to Hilton Head and it was great. We rode bikes. The others played golf.
Peps sorry the dogs are ailing. Good thing you were able to get into a vet office. And sorry to hear of the water issue. Most likely it is the rainwater but jeez who needs it. Stay safe and dry.
I went to the studio today and did some glazing. Place was packed - no where to park.
So studio buddy came over yesterday. She and DH spend 3 hours trying to do a docu-sign thing and failed to get it done. She gets really loud and emotional over stuff like this and I could see that it was making DH angry and upset as well. Bad Karma all around. It would be an interesting thing to study why people get so emotional over computer issues. Glad that day is over.
Pot pie last night and again tonight. I guess the guy at the health food store who makes them is back to work. According to the deli workers he was out with broken rib.
Cheers all. Diane S
I was sort of one of those computer "guys" when I worked and I get incredibly frustrated when things don't work as expected or aren't intuitive. Not unusual that your DH and studio buddy get that way - Mike gets very loud over frustrating stuff like that.

3 hours on a Docusign doc?!?! Your poor DH! I have lost count of the number of those I've signed in the last year (selling a house, buying a house, getting a mortgage, opening brokerage accounts, my CPA tax stuff, HOA docs, several more I'm forgetting)... none took more than a few minutes!
